The series now heads to Circuit of the Americas as the NextGen car will be debuted at its first road course race of the season. Last year was COTA's debut in NASCAR and it saw the series' top road course racer, Chase Elliott, take home the checkered flag and the race produced almost double the passing of any of the six road courses used last season. For fantasy, while track position is always important at a road course, we can't ignore the possibility of multiple drivers tallying double-digit place differential and thus pushing into the optimal lineups. At the end of the day, however, it comes down to qualifying which comes right after the 50-minute practice session. Stay tuned to the cheatsheet for updates along with my final targets and rankings in my player pool. Then join me on YouTube channel Sunday morning for my raceday live show at 12:30 pm ET. With all that said, let's now take a look at some early targets based on early-season success, track history, and road course history. Targets Chase Elliott/Kyle Larson It would...

This is also a huge week for teams and their notebooks as this will be the third straight season with Phoenix raceway hosting the Championship Race. The track is a 1.022-mile Tri-Oval short track with 11 degrees of banking in turns 1 & 2 and 9 degrees of banking in turns 3 & 4. Also of note, when breaking down track history, is that the track was reconstructed after the spring race in 2018 with the start/finish line being moved from the backstretch to the entry of the dogleg(old turn 2). One thing that hasn't changed over the years at Phoenix is the importance of track position as it ranks 1st, 1st, 4th in my model looking at the correlation of qualifying positon and finishing position over the last 2, 5, and 10 races at all tracks. The only race that has seen a correlation under .500 since the reconfiguration was the first race after which was the playoff race in 2018 and it was insane with six accidents including nine cars. When looking at dominator points, there have been multiple drivers to...

NASCAR is now headed to it's fourth different track(including the Coliseum) and as they figure things out track time is going to be key. This is where the biggest change comes in as instead of the 15-minute group practices this week in Las Vegas, teams will all practice together in a 35-minute session before then breaking into two groups for single-car qualifying. Las Vegas Motor Speedway has been on the schedule since 1998 and adopted a second race back in 2018. The track is a 1.5-mile D-shaped oval with 20 degrees of progressive banking and 1st in my quality pass metric when looking at mile and a half tracks. Whether that continues with the new car remains to be seen but Fontana saw its second-most quality passes over the last 10 races there so I am positive we see a good race in Sin City. I have also put together a track position importance research tool for 2022 which pretty much looks at the correlation from starting position to finishing position. Las Vegas ranks #1 when looking at mile and a half tracks and #2 overall in terms of...

Track Information Auto Club Speedway Track Type - Two-Mile Oval 14° of Banking Last Six Winners at Auto Club Speedway 2020 - Alex Bowman(started 3rd) 2019 - Kyle Busch(started 4th) 2018 - Martin Truex Jr.(started 1st) 2017 - Kyle Larson(started 1st) 2016 - Jimmie Johnson(started 19th) After a jam-packed week in Daytona, the NASCAR Cup Series heads back West for a three-week stretch that starts at Auto Club Speedway for the Wise Power 400. The track is a two-mile D-shaped oval that I categorize with Michigan in my track type database with the only real difference between the two being the banking as Michigan is slightly steeper at 18 degrees. Both tracks are high on the driver's list and it comes down to speed and the fact there are multiple lanes to try and generate speed. Combine all that with the new NextGen car and we should get another exciting race on Sunday. While we were blessed with four practices for the Daytona 500 last week, things are somewhat rushed and shortened here in Cali this week. This will mark the start of the new practice and qualifying structure in place for the 2022 season. Before we go any further let's have a look at how it will play out. Qualifying position has proven to be very important here at Fontana as displayed above with the winner coming from a Top 5 starting position in four straight years including from the pole twice. Looking at it from an entire field perspective, Auto Club Speedway has also posted one of the highest correlations from start to finish of all tracks in the series(can find this data on my NASCAR sheet). Despite needing qualifying data to finalize...

While the 2022 season gets underway at Daytona this upcoming week, we got a glimpse into the new NextGen car last week at the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum. There will definitely be some tweaks throughout the season and the race was on a unique one-off track but man I was impressed with what I saw in the racing. Now, with points on the line, we will find out how the new cars perform on one of the most famous tracks in the world, Daytona International Speedway. With the rolling out of the NextGen car this season, that also brings back weekly practice and qualifying. Before we go any further, let's take a look at how that plays out at different tracks. While having practice and qualifying back for the entire season is very exciting, the Daytona 500 continues to have its own unique setup. It starts with two practice sessions on Tuesday, February 15 followed by single-car qualifying on Wednesday, February 16. That qualifying session will only set the front row for the big race with the remainder of the starting positions being set by the two Duel races on Thursday evening. All qualified drivers and teams will then get two more practice sessions(Friday...
NFL Best Ball ADP Value Picks for the 2021 Season
NFL Best Ball ADP Value Picks for the 2021 Season Earlier this summer, I put together a Best Ball Strategy Article looking at everything from roster construction, to draft types, to draft strategies. Now, after completing a bunch of fast and slow drafts I wanted to bring you three of my top ADP value plays. These are players I feel can deliver value much higher than they are going in drafts. Chase Edmonds Position - RB Team - Arizona Cardinals ADP - 6th/7th Round I may be putting this out a little late as I was getting him in Rounds 7-8 as recent as 1-2 weeks ago but I still feel there is value here to outperform a 6th round pick. He is the #1 on the depth chart and while Conners will take some snaps away, there isn't really anyone behind them and Conners also has an injury history so I feel Edmonds is safe for 15 touches per game with the upside of 20 per game. What I really like about Edmonds is that despite the timeshare in 2020, he was 7th in overall in team target share(12.3%) among all running backs and had a 79% catch rate on 67 targets. This is a great baseline for this year and as I mentioned above there is a ton of opportunity for him to perform like an RB1 at an RB3 price. I also like Edmonds even more on teams where I have stacked Kyler Murray with DeAndre Hopkins early on or Kyler with a later-round WR on the Cards. Antonio Brown Position - WR Team - Tampa Bay Buccaneers ADP - 7th/8th Round While he missed the first eight games last year, he ended up leading the team in targets per game(7.8) and actually had one more double-digit target game than Godwin. He was also very efficient catching 73% of his targets(80% in the redzone) and had the highest yards per catch(5.6) of all Bucs wideouts. There are a ton of mouths to feed in Tampa Bay but it's clear Brown and Brady were on the same page in the second half of the season and I with even more time to prep I see that connection continuing to grow. Not that Godwin and Evans don't have more overall upside but both are going in the 3rd/4th round while we can snag Brown in the 7th/8th. Salvon Ahmed Position - RB Team - Miami Dolphins ADP - 19th/20th Round While...
