Not as good matchup here against the Raptors but the Pacers still have one of the highest totals on the slate for a reason. Meanwhile, Buddy Hield got the start over Bennedict Mathurin on Tuesday and made good use of it, going 9-11 from the field and 6-6 from three in 31 minutes. That’s out-of-the-box efficiency that isn’t likely to be replicated, but starting and playing minutes in the 30s is a recipe for value at his current price points. He’s an especially good FanDuel bargain. LaMelo Ball FD - $9900 DK - $10200Opponent - WASProj Pts FD - 51.02 DK - 56.16 The game to really keep an eye on tonight is the Hornets and Wizards who come in with the highest over/under on the slate at 242.5. I don’t think we see the same heights as Hawks-Pacers, but this one should be up and down the court with little to no defense as well. LaMelo Ball has been locked into about a 36-37 minute rotation of late and over the last month is averaging 29 points, eight assists, and 5.5 rebounds while also adding some defensive stats as well. He’s in the same tier as Haliburton and choosing between them on this slate could be tough. The pace should be ultra-fast, Hali has been playing huge minutes and is averaging 23.5 points and 11.6 assists on 51/43/94 splits. Trae Young FD - $9200 DK - $9100Opponent - INDProj Pts FD - 49.66 DK - 54.63 Speaking of the game with a ridiculous total, on the other side we have the Hawks with their own backcourt to roster. Again, with pricing, this gets a little tough because there is only so much salary. But if there was a game to really try to make it all fit and get cheaper plays in elsewhere, this is the one. Trae’s three-point shooting has been off this season, going only 28% from deep with the overall FG% way down off his career numbers as well. That’s definitely a concern, but the usage is still there and he’s getting to the line more this season as well. Bennedict Mathurin FD - $5400 DK - $5300Opponent - ATLProj Pts FD - 31.36 DK - 33.74 We had a little window last week when it seemed like Bennedict Mathurin was going to be a mid-30s minutes guy going forward. But as it seems to happen with Indiana, the rotations just can kind of get wonky and it’s tough to trust anything beyond Haliburton. That being said, with this game likely going the way we think, getting Mathurin in the middle tier (because of the lower minutes of late), then it’s worth it to take the risk. It seemed to pay dividends with LA finally getting a win in the James Harden era and the latter put up solid numbers. He finished with 29 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists when it was all said and done. Now he’ll face the Spurs who are playing the second-worst defense in the league and the Clips come in with one of the highest totals. Harden isn’t priced correctly on either site, but is an especially good deal on FanDuel. De'Aaron Fox FD - $9900 DK - $9300Opponent - NOProj Pts FD - 49.09 DK - 52.33 Almost no matter what, we are going to be paying up for some guards on this slate with the way things are currently shaking out. De'Aaron Fox has been out of his mind this season, and over his last four games is averaging 32 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds while running major minutes. The price on DraftKings hasn’t really caught up to the production which is running a bit on the hot side, but not a ton. San Antonio has the second-worst defensive efficiency in the NBA, giving up huge point totals seemingly every single night. They also get blown out a ton, so there’s risk here with the Sac guys. Fox hasn’t had any minutes restrictions since coming back from injury and has dropped 28 points in each of the last two games. Pray this one stays close and light the Beam with the Kings in cash. That’s one of the higher numbers you will see and makes him a pretty easy play here. While Chicago might be in blow-it-up mode coming sooner than later, we can still play some of their guys in the short-term when the getting is good. For starters, Zach Lavine sees an obvious bump in production with DDR off the court, leading the team with a 30% usage in these situations so far this season. He’s scoring dependent for sure, but the price on both sites is totally reasonable considering the context. Meanwhile, Coby White sees the usage climb to 26.8% and the assist rate bumps up as well. I think his minutes are ultra-safe right now considering the Bulls are playing without DDR and will likely be without Alex Caruso as well. For White, these are the kind of situations we are waiting for when it comes to cash games. The big news with LaMelo Ball last game, in addition to the 30 points, 13 assists, 10 rebound triple-double was that he pushed the minutes to 39. He’s a lock for cash on this slate at these prices. Tyus Jones FD - $5800 DK - $5600Opponent - CHAProj Pts FD - 30.11 DK - 32.21 Jordan Poole FD - $6700 DK - $7400Opponent - CHAProj Pts FD - 35.37 DK - 38.34 This is an interesting spot for the Wizards tonight. They aren’t at a massive risk of getting blown out, coming in at just three-point underdogs to the Hornets. That could mean the minutes are actually on the safer side for Tyus Jones and Jordan Poole. It hasn’t been the case lately, but this game is a different beast. What you are relying on with both of these Wizards guards is that the minutes will be there up and over 30 and that they won’t get buzzed off even in a close game. That’s not a guarantee with Washington in full tank mode this season. But the usage is there for both, this game has a massive total and neither of them are all that expensive for what they offer. Strongly consider Tyrese Haliburton (FD 10000 DK 9800) who has been amazing of late. This game also has a big total and his minutes are ultra-safe in a close one.
