DFS NBA Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – Sunday 10/30
FanDuel NBA Picks and DraftKings NBA Picks - Sunday, 10/30/22 I just finished watching the late games on Saturday, and it was a heck of a basketball night. Utah pulled out another shocking win over Memphis, while OKC overcame a 16-point deficit in the final five minutes to upset Dallas. Seeing random players on these bad teams is something I love about the NBA because there's so much talent littered throughout the league. That's why I love the NBA because these guys play basketball at an unfathomable level. With that in mind, let's kick things with one of the most ridiculous players in the league. Point Guard Luka Doncic FD - $12000 DK - $12200 Opponent - ORL Proj Pts FD - 62.6 DK - 67.42 We have a ton of value plays on this slate, so getting a guy like Doncic into your lineup is imperative. This has been the best player in fantasy, and it's likely to continue when you see his league-leading 40 percent usage rate. Dallas wants Doncic to do everything for this offense right now, scoring at least 66 fantasy points in four of five games. He's also leading the NBA with 69 DraftKings points per game, averaging 35.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 9.4 assists. That's why he's earned this $12K price tag, but it's also why he needs to be in every lineup out there. Orlando is an outstanding matchup, too, with the Magic ranked 19th in defensive efficiency ratings. They're also missing all of their guards, and Doncic should feast against what's possibly the worst roster in the league. Tre Jones FD - $6000 DK - $6100 Opponent - MIN Proj Pts FD - 34.25 DK - 33.84 The Josh Primo situation in San Antonio is unfortunate, but it's giving Jones full reign on the point guard position. He's started every game, averaging 29 DraftKings points per game across 31 minutes a night. That's the guy we saw last season, with Tre totaling a 31-point average as a starter last year. He's taking over the Dejounte Murray role in this San Antonio offense, and he's only going to get better at the age of 22. Devin Vassell being out of the lineup is another boost to his value,...
DFS NBA Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – Wednesday, 10/26
FanDuel NBA Picks and DraftKings NBA Picks - Wednesday, 10/26/22 Tuesday's slate was a rough on in terms of late-game news, and it looks like this is the new NBA. Teams will rest players whether they're tanking or not, which can be frustrating for DFS managers. The most important aspect of DFS is following the news up to first tip. It's essential to follow up after as well because mid-slate adjustments could bank you a massive GPP. Knowing which players will step up in those circumstances is one of the most important things when evaluating these articles, and we'll keep sending value plays your way! We've got you completely covered. Point Guard Tre Jones FD - $6300 DK - $5500 Opponent - MIN Proj Pts FD - 32.42 DK - 31.86 Why are these DFS sites still sleeping on Jones? This is the new starting point guard in Popovich's system, and he's played at a $7K level in this role. Tre started in 11 games last season, averaging 33.2 DraftKings points per game. That's essentially the guy we've seen this year, posting a 30-point average through the opening week. The simple fact is, this is the primary ball-handler for this underwhelming offense, and he should continue to produce as long as he's playing 30-35 minutes a night. His role should rise even more here in the absence of Devin Vassell, which is awesome since Minnesota is surrendering the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing PGs. Dennis Smith Jr. FD - $6500 DK - $6000 Opponent - NY Proj Pts FD - 37.65 DK - 36.02 How wild is it that we're recommending Smith Jr this early into the season? That shows how badly Charlotte has been bit by the injury bug, playing without LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, and Miles Bridges. That has forced DSJ into the starting lineup, dropping 37 DK points across 33 minutes in this expanded role on Sunday. He scored at least 31 DK points in all four games he played at least 25 minutes last year, and we know he can produce whenever given the opportunity. New York didn't give him that chance, and you know he'll be motivated in this revenge game. With all that said, DSJ is a tough sell if Rozier...
DFS NBA Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – Sunday 10/23/22
FanDuel NBA Picks and DraftKings NBA Picks - Sunday, 10/23/22 This opening week of the NBA season has been magical. I'm one of the few people who prefer to watch the NBA over the NFL, and it has me pegged as your Sunday writer for the rest of the season. The prize pools always tend to be smaller, but it's an excellent time to capitalize on some of the amateur players. We also tend to have smaller slates, and that's certainly the case with this seven-game card. With that in mind, let's get started with one of the best guards in the NBA! Head on over for your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our NBA FanDuel and DraftKings optimizer, our MLB Optimizer, and NHL Projections as well. Plus, our new player lab! We've got you completely covered. Point Guard Trae Young FD - $8700 DK - $9700 Opponent - CHA Proj Pts FD - 48.98 DK - 52.7 We weren't so sure what to expect from this Young-Murray backcourt, but it looks like these are the exact same All-Star players. The reason we love them for DFS is that these sites clearly overreacted to that move, making these guys about $1,000 cheaper than last year. That makes no sense, with Young scoring at least 50 DraftKings points in both games this season. The assists are what had DFS managers concerned, but he's handed out 13 a night with Dejounte. Getting to face Charlotte is sensational, too, with the Hornets ranked fifth in pace and 22nd in defensive efficiency last year. In their final three matchups last season, Trae averaged 46 fantasy points per game! Dennis Smith Jr. FD - $5200 DK - $5400 Opponent - ATL Proj Pts FD - 31.16 DK - 29.93 How crazy is it that we have DSJ in here in the opening week of the season? Many people weren't even sure Smith would play in the NBA this season, but he's been one of their best guards through the opening week. The former Top-10 pick has 25 and 29 DK points in the first two games of the year, playing 22 minutes a night. He's done that damage off the bench, but we anticipate him playing 35 minutes as the starting point guard here. We say that because LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, and Miles Bridges are all out of the lineup. Those were the three best players last year, and we...

Guards Luka Doncic FD - $10800 DK - $10700 Opponent - MEM Proj Pts FD - 55.06 DK - 57.17 The two most expensive guards on the slate face off against one another tonight and both provide an elite floor/ceiling combination. With Memphis playing on a back-to-back, I slightly lean Luka here coming off 50+ fantasy performance in game one and h wasn't even that efficient shooting 10 for 23 but made up for it going 13 for 13 from the free throw line while adding nine rebounds and six assists. He now faces a Grizzlies team that I mentioned is playing on a back-to-back and has given up over 110 points in both of their games. As long as the price remains under $11K, Luka is going to be a core play for me in all formats. Tyler Herro FD - $6200 DK - $6300 Opponent - TOR Proj Pts FD - 33.12 DK - 35.44 This will be the third time writing up Tyler Herro this season for the DFSR crew and it continues to baffle us why the price hasn't gone up yet. He was excellent on opening night giving USA 6x return on both sites and was even better last night putting up a near 7x return. He led the Heat with 21 shots putting gup 25 points and adding six rebounds and three assists while playing 36 minutes. The matchup doesn't jump off the page as the Raptors are an above-average defense but considering they are playing a back-to-back on the road and Herro's is just coming way too cheap, I am on board in all formats. Donovan Mitchell FD - $8500 DK - $9200 Opponent - CHI Proj Pts FD - 41.98 DK - 43.79 While the Cavs ended up losing their first game, management had to be thrilled about their huge off-season deal for Donovan Mitchell. He led the team with 21 shots and a 36% usage rate while posting a monster 50-point fantasy game. The price has gone up on DraftKings but if he continues to play at this level there is a good chance he will be a consistent 10K player on both sites this season. Tonight, he faces a Bulls team that is playing on a back-to-back while the Cavs have had a day to rest. Mitchell is a core play...

Guards Tyrese Maxey FD - $6600 DK - $5200 Opponent - MIL Proj Pts FD - 30.55 DK - 31.07 Like opening night, we have another small two-game slate so we are going to need some value and for me, that comes at the guard position with much more intriguing payups at the forward/center positions. Let's start with Tyrese Maxey who Doug mentioned on Tuesday was underpriced for his potential role and that continues here as the price only came up slightly on both sites. He played 38 minutes on opening night and took the second-most shots(16) on the team finishing with 30 fantasy points which at these prices is a terrific return, especially on DraftKings at nearly 6x. He is very shooting dependant but I feel we need to continue to buy low early in the season. He is in play on both sites but his best value comes on DraftKings in the low $5K range. Russell Westbrook FD - $7200 DK - $7000 Opponent - LAC Proj Pts FD - 30.37 DK - 31.51 It wasn't clear whether Westbrook would start for the Lakers on opening night but that ended up being the case as he played 31 minutes and finished third in shots behind the two usage monsters AD and Bron. There is always risk he just turns the ball over a ton but there is also no denying the high floor/high ceiling with his contributions in multiple categories. He showed this on opening night with his first double-double of the season and the best part is that this is a guy that we got used to paying 8-9K for in the past. At these prices, it makes sense to load up in all formats if he is back in the starting lineup. Grayson Allen FD - $3800 DK - $4600 Opponent - PHI Proj Pts FD - 20.38 DK - 21.33 Let's close out the guard section by going way down the board with a player that really help us to a stars and scrubs type build. Allen is going to cede a lot of the shots to Giannis and Holiday in the offense but was solid in his three preseason starts shooting 48% on nine shots a game and it also helps he is going to provide us with around 4-6 rebounds, as well. That is...

We've got you completely covered. Point Guard Marcus Smart FD - $5900 DK - $5200Opponent - PHIProj Pts FD - 27.97 DK - 30.56 There’s word that the Warriors’ core group of guys (Curry, Klay, Draymond) aren’t ready to play 30 minutes in games yet. That’s going to really cut down on the options for cash games on this slate, making really anyone from that team a tough sell. Smart meanwhile is going to be pretty crucial for the Celtics defending the Harden/ Maxey backcourt combination. The usage is always going to be low when Tatum and Brown are on the court, and Brogdon likely cuts into this as well. But he’s not priced over $6K on either site and I think the minutes will be there. Derrick White FD - $4400 DK - $4100Opponent - PHIProj Pts FD - 25.58 DK - 27.78 On a short slate of games, we typically will end up taking something of a stars and scrubs approach. That’s because getting the superstars, or at least a couple, takes high priority. That’s the case here and why getting White so cheap should be the play. With Robert Williams on the shelf, the Celtics are going to move Al Horford to the five and start White in the backcourt. That’s about all you need to know considering these price points, and he works in as close to a punt as you’ll see in the opening slate of games. Strongly consider James Harden (FD 8900 DK 8900) under $9K on both sites, but I’m a bit concerned about his value with Maxey looking so good and taking so many shots. Shooting Guard Tyrese Maxey FD - $6500 DK - $5000Opponent - BOSProj Pts FD - 26.96 DK - 29.18 Maxey took the same number of shots as Harden over his last three preseason games and is poised for a breakout season for sure. He needs to score to hit value, which is always going to be a little dicey, but they should be able to stagger his minutes to run the second unit as well, which helps the floor some. He’s likely to be...
