It looks like Matt Cain will start instead, who is the polar opposite of Bumgarner. That leaves us with only 1 expensive option on the entire day. Max Scherzer. Scherzer and the Nats will face-off with the Phillies, who are one of the more underwhelming offenses in the league. Odubel Herrera and Michael Saunders are both great against righties and are the only 2 guys that can give Scherzer some issues. It's a reach though, as not many guys can get to Scherzer. Righties are a lost cause. In 2016, Scherzer allowed a .206 wOBA, which is lowest among qualified starters. Lefties hit Scherzer a little bit better, but nothing to write home about. Scherzer is far and away the top option at pitcher and is a lock for cash games. He is a top 3-5 pitcher in baseball and on a slate with such uncertainty, there's something to be said for a safe, high-upside pitching target. Outside of Scherzer, you will be relying upon tournament options and "what if's" to produce. In cash games, I wouldn't get too cute on this slate. Scherzer is going to produce and I will be taking the sure thing. Zack Wheeler FD 6500 DK 8000 Opponent - MIA (Chen) Park - @NYM FD - 34.62 DK - 22.73 If you aren't a big MLB fan, the name Zach Wheeler may not mean too much for you. If you do pay attention to the Mets and prospects, you definitely know who Wheeler is. Wheeler pitched 100+ innings in 2013, before twirling 180 in 2014. He then got hurt about 5 different times and only managed to pitch 1 single A inning over the last 2 seasons. When Wheeler was pitching well, he dominated righties and held down lefties pretty well. In 2014, Wheeler sported a ..291 combined wOBA to go along with a 29% hard contact rate and a 9.51 K/9. The Mets will definitely be careful with Wheeler, as they can't have him getting hurt again. We saw Harvey dominate and only get 70 pitches...

What We Know Rajon Rondo has been ruled out against the 76ers Rondo has been a huge part of the Bulls offense as of late, so this will be interesting to see. Jerian Grant will get the start and definitely deserves some ownership in tournaments. Jimmy Butler will also play a lot of point guard and we will get to him later. Nikola Mirotic could also see an uptick in usage. What We're Waiting to Know Paul Millsap is likely to play against the Celtics Millsap came back and played 26 minutes last game. he should see around 30 in this one and if he plays, I will avoid him. If Millsap is out, Dwight Howard is a solid option.Schroder would also pick up some usage and be interesting against Isaiah Thomas. Sean Kilpatrick is questionable against the Magic The Nets have a million different guards, so nobody will see extra minutes either way. The Nets have been spreading minutes out like crazy and I have no interest in anyone besides Jeremy Lin. The "Every Lineup" Guys Isaiah Thomas Isaiah and the Celtics got destroyed by LeBron in crew last game and ended up playing only a portion of his regular minutes. The Celtics want the 1 seed and Thomas will see a ton of minutes here. Dennis Schroder is one of the worst PG defenders in the league and the Hawks have ranked 27th since the ASB against PG's. Thomas is the only real reliable offensive option on the C's and they will rely on him heavily in this one. Jimmy Butler With Rajon Rondo already confirmed out, you have to think Jimmy Butler will be playing a ton of point guard here. The 6'ers are obviously not the team to slow down Butler, who has been on fire as of late. The Bulls are in must-win mode and Butler is the only guy who can score on a consistent basis. While Butler is...

We've got you completely covered. Pitchers Marcus Stroman FD 7500 DK 8700 Opponent - TB (Snell) Park - @TBFD - 31.94 DK - 20.97 I touched on a few guys in the main picks article, so these are secondary plays. On the late slate however, I think Stroman may be the best GPP option. Matt Harvey is facing off with the Braves and has the upside to go crazy in any start. He also has the downside to get nickel and dimed to death by a lineup that doesn't strikeout against righties. Marcus Stroman will face-off with the Rays, who have struggled against right-handed pitching dating back to 2014. They have a few guys with huge K rates and a few more that just aren't good hitters. Kevin Kiermaier and Corey Dickerson are the only real bats I'm worried about. They both hit righties well and Kiermaier presents a big issue on the basepaths. Stroman was quite good in 2016, allowing a combined .311 wOBA to match his 3.25 xFIP. This game will be played in Tropicana Field, which s one of the best parks in the league for pitching. Stroman may not be the safe option Matt Harvey is, bu he has the upside and the price is depressed. Eduardo Rodriguez FD 7100 DK 7100 Opponent - PIT (Kuhl) Park - @BOSFD - 31.36 DK - 20.67 After Stroman, it gets very ugly. Eduardo ROdriguezis a longshot GPP call and I wouldn't touch him in cash games. He struggled for the better part of 2 years but believes he knows why. He was tipping pitches. Since the start of 2016, Rodriguez has fixed a lot. He ended up allowing a .3018 wOBA to lefties and a .312 to righties. He did have some HR trouble but that's expected in Fenway Park. While the Pirates do have some intimidating bats, they can strike out a lot and g cold with ease. Like I said, this is a tournament only option. Rodriguez can easily get shelled here if McCutchen or Marte is swinging the bat well. If for some reason ROdridgiez can get them on their heels...

We've got you completely covered. Detroit Tigers The Tigers are the lucky crew that gets to take on James Shields for the first time of the year. If you read the picks article, I touched on a few of these guys. James Shields is absolutely atrocious against both sides of the plate and hasn't shown any signs of improvement. In 2016, Shields allowed a .384 wOBA to righties and a .370 to lefties. Both of those numbers are absolutely horrible and close to league-bottom for qualified starters. His increasing age and decreasing velocity suggests things may only get worse for Shields. The Tigers definitely aren't the team to mess with. While they do have some uncertain bats in the back of the order, the top half is great. Victor Martinez is catcher-eligible on FanDuel and is a guy you should be playing. Miggy Cabrera is still a top 3 pure hitter in baseball and can easily take Shields deep here. After those 2, I don't mind mixing and matching a little bit. Ian Kinsler and Castellanos is where I would go for cash. In tournaments, McCann and Collins are really cheap and have good match-ups. U.S. Cellular Field is a + hitters park and the Tigers should put on a show today. Main Stack - Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, Ian Kinsler, Nick Castellanos Contrarian Stack - Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, Tyler Collins, James McCann Los Angeles Dodgers This one is pretty simple. Whatever team Jered Weaver is facing every 5 days is a near-lock to make this article. Jered Weaver and James Shields similar in one way. They are both extremely bad against everyone. Like Shields, Weaver gave up crazy numbers to both sides of the plate in 2016. With an exact .365 wOBA against both sides of the plate, you can have your choosing with this Dodgers lineup. Corey Seager and Adrian Gonzalez are the two main cash game plays. They are both extremely solid against right-handed pitching and won't be fooled in the slightest by Weaver. Andrew Toles and Justin Turner are the 2 next safest options, but will be highly owned....

Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 4/6/17

Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/6/17 The MLB throws us the first curveball of the season with this weird all-day slate. While I love baseball all day long, I would prefer 1 or 2-time slots where a majority start. Still, it's pretty cool to have so many options. Remember, we are in the 3rd/4th game for most of these teams, so the gas cans are coming out to play. We have a whole bunch of gas cans on the mound today with only a couple somewhat reliable arms. Let's take a look at the top plays from each position. Feel free to comment below or join the live chat at the bottom of the page. You can also find me on twitter @ VarneyDFS. We've got you completely covered.   Pitcher Early Brandon McCarthy FD 6300 DK 7200 Opponent - SD (Weaver) Park - @LAD FD - 34.52 DK - 22.57 The Padres are a team we will be targeting a lot with pitchers this year. If you play NBA DFS, think the Nets. The Padres only have 1 or 2 guys in positive match-ups each night and even those guys aren't great. Brandon McCarthy isn't great either. He's a slightly above-average pitcher with a whole lot to prove this year. He returned from Tommy John last year, but only pitched 40 innings. It will be interesting to see how he can handle a fresh season from start to finish. However, fatigue shouldn't be a problem today. McCarthy is a very smart pitcher and should be able to work around this lineup extremely easily. He's worse against lefties, but not by much. The Padres currently have the lowest implied team total on the all-day slate at 3.13, which is barely less than the Braves at 3.36. When Matt Harvey is facing a team as bad as the Braves and the Padres STILL have a lower total, you know how bad they are. McCarthy is a superior cash game play in the early slate and makes sense in tournaments on a slate with no good pitching. Gio Gonzalez FD 8400 DK 8400 Opponent - MIA (Koehler) Park - @WSH FD - 31.12 DK - 20.51 Pitching on this early slate is absolutely horrible. I don't really like Gio Gonzalez and neither does the optimizer. With that...
