Pitchers Jacob deGrom FD 9800 DK 10600 Opponent - WSH (Ross) Park - @NYM FD - 34.57 DK - 22.85 We touched on Robbie Ray and Yu Darvish in the main picks article, who remain elite plays at the high-end of starting pitching. DeGrom isn't really too far off, but is still a slight step down. He is coming in around $10K on both sites and deserves to be owned in all formats. He's been the only arm that has somewhat been consistent, other than Matt Harvey consistently stinking. He's holding a combined .320 wOBA, albeit a BABIP of .340 will not help. We will see that number come down and the wOBA will always follow. He will stay home in Citi Field and introduce the Nationals. The Nationals can swing the damn stick. We know that. The top 5 of this order are extremely dangerous and not guys I'm ever really looking to target. The thing is that Jacob DeGrom is just as good of an equalizer when healthy, so you never really know how things are going to go. DeGrom is far more talented than most pitchers on the day and that alone can ride you to the promise land on a slate like this. Robbie Ray and Yu Darvish both have better match-ups, which is why it's tough to like DeGrom over them in cash games. Still, if DeGrom is able to work through the order quickly the first and second time, he will have similar upside to Ray and Darvish. Personally, Ray and Darvish are my 2 favorites with DeGrom a distant 3rd. Buck Farmer FD 6400 DK 5800 Opponent - TB (Faria) Park - @DET FD - 26.13 DK - 17.53 I don't really have a great reason why, but I have rostered Buck Farmer in each of his last 2 great starts. He was extremely cheap and doesn't really have bad numbers. Farmer was up last year and pitched well, covering for Justin Verlander when he was injured. I think Farmer deserves a shot in the rotation and it looks like everybody is seeing that....

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Robbie Ray FD 10600 DK 13500 Opponent - PHI (Lively) Park - @PHI FD - 35.64 DK - 23.63 Wow, Robbie Ray is going crazy. Ray has never profiled as a guy with this type of consistent upside, but it looks like he is the real deal. He's been undoubtedly one of the top pitchers in the entire league so far and while that may not be at all sustainable, we have a real ace in this kid. At just 25 years old, he's striking out over 11 batters per 9 innings, while holding lefties and righties to a combined .249 wOBA. Ray is complete death against lefties and has been nearly as dominant against right-handers. This move into Citizens Bank Park would be a downgrade to most pitchers, but not to Robbie Ray. Ray is used to pitching in Chase Field, which is easily the 2nd best park in baseball for hitting. There is no reason to think he won't be able to handle a ballpark that is much bigger. The actual team inside the ballpark isn't great either. Against lefties, they've held a putrid .299 wOBA against and a 23% strikeout rate. Maikel Franco and Tommy Joseph are both dangerous against southpaws, but strike out far more often and against Robbie Ray, the K's are inevitable. All in all, Ray is the top option in all formats. It's still a bit weird to look at his name, back at the price and then be ok with it, but that's part of growing with the game. It should hopefully keep his ownership just a bit. Yu Darvish FD 9900 DK 12000 Opponent - SEA (Bergman) Park - @TEX FD - 34.88 DK - 23.17 If you told me last season that Robbie Ray would be more expensive than Yu Darvish and we would still like Robbie Ray more, I would call you nuts. Still, Darvish is in a fantastic spot at home against the Mariners. Darvish has sported a .280 wOBA against both sides of the plate and is currently striking out almost 10 batters per 9. His peripherals are dream-worthy. With a 30% hard contact rate, 21% line drive rate, and 18% HR/FB rate, Darvish has actually been very unlucky....

We've got you completely covered. San Francisco Giants / Colorado Rockies Of course, Coors Field is always going to be in play. We have 2 average to bad pitchers on the mound and an over/under currently sitting at 12.5! The Rockies are expected to score 6.96 runs, which is the highest implied run total I can remember on the season. Matt Cain is very bad and I doubt he lasts any longer than 4 or 5 innings. He's allowed a .355 wOBA to both lefties and righties, while striking out just under 6 batters per 9 innings. The Rockies are the top raw offense on the slate and if you can afford them, get some exposure. Carlos Gonzalez and Nolan Arenado are the top 2 options, with Charlie Blackmon and Ian Desmond coming up next. Matt Cain doesn't really care about who is hitting homers off of them, so don't worry about lefty/righty in the stack. On the Giants side, they face off with a lefty in Kyle Freeland. Freeland is worse against lefties and we all know who to target from the Giants. Buster Posey and Hunter Pence are elite options, destroying lefties for years now. Eduardo Nunez and Aaron Hill are the other 2 righties in this lineup, but Brandon Belt can hit lefties as well. This game is surely going to have some runs and you should definitely get some exposure if possible. Giants Stack - Buster Posey, Hunter Pence, Eduardo Nunez, Brandon Belt Rockies Stack - Charlie Blackmon, Nolan Arenado, Carlos Gonzalez, Ian Desmond Los Angeles Dodgers Asher Wojciechowski is bad. bad. bad. He's 28 years-old and has been struggling in the minors for many many years. I actually remember watching this guy get blown up in person just 3 years ago in A+ Hammerheads baseball. Through just 18 innings, he has been atrocious against both righties and lefties. He has been notoriously worse against lefties, so I would prefer them a bit more. The Dodgers are one of the top offenses in baseball against righties and move into a top 5 ballpark. Great American Ballpark ranked 3rd in 2016...

We've got you completely covered. Pitchers Chris Archer FD 10400 DK 12400 Opponent - DET (Fulmer) Park - @DET FD - 33.16 DK - 22.15 We touched on Strasburg, Stroman, and Arrieta in the main picks article, and they all remain great plays. All 3 of those guys have solid match-ups and can be played in any format. However, there are a few more guys to consider. Chris Archer is priced just as high as Strasburg and arguably has more upside. Archer is striking out over 11 batters per inning and walking close to 3. He's actually been unlucky this season, allowing a .356 BABIP to righties. That number will inevitably fall and Archer will see his numbers get even better, which is just crazy. One thing that does worry me a bit is the road game. Archer is a lot more consistent at home, but has just as much upside on the road if his slider is working. This Tigers lineup is full of righties and if Archer does have his slider working, double-digit strikeouts are an easy possibility. Comerica Park is a pitcher's park and ranked in the bottom 10 for both lefties and righties in 2016. The Tigers obviously have some dangerous bats that can do a lot of damage. Miguel Cabrera and J.D. Martinez are 2 of the top 10 hitters in the game, but can strikeout a ton against right-handers. You then get into guys like Justin Upton and Nick Castellanos, who strikeout A TON (26%+) against righties. Victor Martinez will be out of the lineup, so don't worry about his annoying, 11-pitch at-bats. Archer has as much upside as anyone on the slate and should be a lot lower owned than Strasburg. In cash games, this isn't a spot I love. The Tigers are a good offense and can get to a guy if at all off their game. Masahiro Tanaka FD 8400 DK 8600 Opponent - OAK (Hahn) Park - @OAK FD - 31.62 DK - 20.95 We liked Tanaka last week, when he finally came out and had a solid performance against the Angels in Anaheim. We've got you completely covered. Pitchers Johnny Cueto FD 9800 DK 11700 Opponent - KC (Hammel) Park - @SF FD - 37.62 DK - 24.78 We touched on Corey Kluber and Michael Pineda in the main picks article, who are still preferred as the top 2 options in cash games and tournaments. We now touch on a guy we can use in all formats and a guy that is only a GPP option. Starting with Cueto, he's expensive and should be a bit overlooked with most on Kluber and Pineda. We know how good Johnny Cueto is and how great he pitches at home. We also know he has struggled a bit as of late and hasn't displayed his dominant 9 innings, 10 strikeout performance that he usually shows a few times each year. He hasn't been horrible, either. Cueto currently sports a .320 wOBA and is striking out 9 batters per 9 innings. This is still the same ace we love and know and the big performances will come. This isn't a bad game for it to happen in, facing off with the Royals at home in AT&T Park. The Royals are the league's 2nd worst team against righties, sporting a .296 wOBA. They strikeout 22% of the time against righties and have the league's lowest OPS. This is a very weak team and I would be surprised if anyone is able to do much 1 swing damage here. Cueto has to avoid the "death by single" inning, which is how the Royals do most of their damage. Cueto is the best pitcher in the league at holding runners and he will completely take away any threat Escobar or Merrifield brings. All in all, Cueto is fine in all formats, but I do prefer Kluber and Pineda. Francisco Liriano FD 7300 DK 5800 Opponent - TB (Odorizzi) Park - @TOR FD - 31.4 DK - 20.84 Never roster Francisco Liriano in a cash game. I don't care if he's facing a little league team. He can walk 10 batters and have 90 pitches by the 4th inning. In all seriousness, I've gone through it...
