Pitchers Carlos Carrasco FD 8900 DK 11100 Opponent - MIN (Gibson) Park - @MINFD - 35.73 DK - 23.62 We touched on Yu Darvish and Marcus Stroman in the main picks article. They remain my top 2 options in both cash games and tournaments. With that being said, there is a very, very close 3rd in Carlos Carrasco. Carrasco is a better pither than Stroman, but doesn't have as good of a match-up. Carrasco is facing ff with the Twins, who are very average against righties. They've ranked 17th in the league with a .321 wOBA and a 22.1% K rate. They are basically whatever the pitcher wants to make out of them. If a pitcher is off, the Twins will let you know. If a pitcher is dealing, they won't do much to stop it. Carrasco is kind of the same way. You will know exactly how your night will turn out aftr the 2nd inning. If he's walking batters and going 3-2 to a catcher, it'll be a quick night. He'll hit 100 pitches after 6 innings and get yanked. There's also the possibility of Carrasco being on his game and mowing this team down. Absolutely nobody would be surprised to see Carrasco as the highest scorer on the slate. He's still my 3rd option, but I'll have plenty on 2 pitcher sites like DK. John Lackey FD 7300 DK 6900 Opponent - CIN (Bailey) Park - @CHCFD - 33.55 DK - 22.01 After Darvish, Stroman, and Carrasco, the steep fall to number 4 may be deeper than the grand canyon. I will not roster John Lackey. I won't roster anyone that isn't in that top 3. However, if you forced my hand, I'm going to Lackey. He's the only guy I can trust to work through 5 or 6 innings and limit the damage. he's at home in Wrigley Field and facing off with the lowly Reds. The Reds K nearly 23% of the time and while there are some bats that will give him trouble, find me a pitcher without them. Lackey has been a bit better...

Pitcher Yu Darvish FD 9800 DK 13700 Opponent - CHW (Rodon) Park - @LAD FD - 44.62 DK - 29.43 The baseball gods have been throwing some very interesting slates at us and it won't stop today. To start us off, we have a very intriguing 6 game early slate that will draw interest. Starting at the typical 7 PM slate time, we have a 9 game slate. A slate that consists of just 3 teams projected to score under 4.20 runs. The offenses should run rampant on this slate and a good pitcher will be at a premium in both cash games and tournaments. The safest of them all is Yu Darvish. Darvish and the Dodgers host the White Sox, who have been one of the bottom barrel teams in the sport against righties. Since the start of the season, they have ranked 3rd worst with a .305 wOBA and 23% strikeout rate. They now move into a pitcher-friendly Dodger Stadium where Darvish figures to dominate. They're projected for just 2.71 runs, at the lowest by far. We know how good Darvish can be, but he's also shown consistency this season. A 3.64 xFIP and 10.15 K/9 are extremely impressive in Globe Life Park and with him moving to one of the top pitcher parks in the game, I fully expect Darvish to make that leap to top-end elite starting pitchers. As for tonight, play him. Marcus Stroman FD 8300 DK 11600 Opponent - TB (Faria) Park - @TOR FD - 33.53 DK - 22.15 As your SP2 on DK or pivot on FD, both Carrasco and Stroman are worth considering. The projection system is slightly leaning Marcus Stroman and I definitely agree. While Salazar showed the exact upside Carrasco can have against the Twins just tonight, I don't think it's nearly the match-up Stroman has. Stroman and the Jays move to Tampa to face off with the god-awful Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays strikeout 25.2% of the time and have given up some monster performances on the season. Stroman is a guy you don't want to go out of your way to target, but also don't want to ignore when in the right match-up. He can go for an easy 7...

Pitcher Jose Quintana FD 8400 DK 11600 Opponent - CIN (Wojciechowski) Park - @CHC FD - 35.37 DK - 23.17 When we have a slate like yesterday with numerous aces on the hill, you're bound to run into a few days like this. Our only true ace on this hill (Greinke) is in Chase Field facing off with the best offense in baseball. While he has as much upside as ever, I can't see an argument for Greinke in cash games. Instead, we'll move down a bit and focus on Jose Quintana, the newly acquired Cub. Quintana would be the ace in a lot of rotations and has the ability to be a top 15 pitcher. He played in front of a bad defense in the White Sox and will make some head turns on the north side. As a lefty, he is virtually unhittable against same-side bats (.259 wOBA, 9.58 K/9) and has limited righties to a .323 wOBA. This match-up with the Reds is solid one, considering they come in at 17th in the league with a 90 wRC+. They are far worse on the road and struggle more against lefties than righties. Eugenio Suarez and Zack Cozart are the 2 big lefty killers to maneuver around, but I don't think he'll have much trouble. While I'm hesitant to say I feel safe with any of these options, Quintana is as closes as you will find. Price-wise, he's great on FanDuel. DraftKings is a whole different story at a staggering $11.6k. It will be interesting to see how the rise in price will affect his ownership across different formats. As for me, Quintana will be in 100% of my cash games and most of the tournaments. Jerad Eickhoff FD 7400 DK 8000 Opponent - SD (Wood) Park - @SD FD - 27.92 DK - 18.59 Jerad Eickhoff is a good pitcher. On this slate, there's something to be said for that. Pitching is absolutely barren on this slate and the opportunity to pay down for Eickhoff is something that needs to be considered. First things first, Eickhoff is no slouch running into good luck. He's a strong young pitcher who is expected to be a long-term rotation arm in Philly behind Nola....

We've got you completely covered. Kansas City Royals The White Sox rotation is just embarrassing. Without Jose Quintana, it's like a bunch of different faulty pitching machines that can't be figured out. Today, it's Derek Holland once again. As a lefty, Holland has been one of the worst pitchers in the league against righties with a .397 wOBA. He's allowed 23 homers to righties and while I don't think it should be possible, it will only go up. There's a chance he might actually work with one of those charities who give money away when an HR is hit. Giving up HR's is certainly his best skill against righties and faces off with some guys who have to hit in Kauffman Stadium. Kepp in mind, a guy like Lorenzo Cain is suppressed mightily by the ballpark. He is one of the best OF's in this league and in Guaranteed ate Field, has the opportunity to show that. He's my favorite Royal and my favorite overall bat on the slate. After him, you can go anywhere. If we think Holland will be knocked out early, don't be afraid to jump on a few lefties. They will be 5-10% owned and could easily see 2 or 3 bats against a righty bullpen arm. Main Stack - Lorenzo Cain, Whit Merrifield, Melky Cabrera, Jorge Bonifacio Sneaky Stack - Lorenzo Cain, Melky Cabrera, Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas Milwuakee Brewers As a Cubs fan, I hate this entire team. As a DFS player, I love them. They have a ton of power against right-handed pitching and can steal bases as well. They have the ability to put up a lot of runs and they seem to do in a blink of an eye. Today, they face off with Sal Romano. Romano is not a big prospect and isn't expected to be long for the majors. While he's only pitched 30 innings and it's far too low to judge anything off, what we have seen is not encouraging. He's given up 4 homers and a .371 combined wOBA against some pretty lackluster teams. He now moves into face a Brewers...

Pitchers Chris Sale FD 11300 DK 14200 Opponent - NYY (Montgomery) Park - @NYYFD - 40.09 DK - 26.36 In the main picks article, I touched on Corey Kluber and Max Scherzer. In my opinion, they are the top 2 options. They have better match-ups than Sale and are just as good of pitchers. With that being said, we know the type of upside Chris Sale can bring to the table. Tonight, he'll cap the night off and face the Yankees on Sunday Night Baseball. We know the Yankees have some pizzaz and power, but they also strikeout 23% of the time. This Yankees team can go cold and be shut down. We've seen much worse pitchers do it many times to this same squad. Sale is having his best season yet, sporting a .237 wOBA and 12.14 K/9. That's just crazy. His price is high on both sites and I do think he goes a bit under-owned. On DK, Sale should be around 10%. On FD, look for around 15-20%. This isn't the perfect match-up for Sale, but when he's on, there's no such thing as a bad match-up. If his pitches are moving like they're capable of, it doesn't matter who is standing in the box. Kenta Maeda FD 8900 DK 8300 Opponent - SD (Perdomo) Park - @LADFD - 33.97 DK - 22.18 While I personally won't be moving off of Scherzer, Sale, and Kluber, there is a lot of merit in paying down a bit. First things first, Maeda is a very safe option and just as big as a favorite as the top dogs. His price is in the $8K's, which will let you pay up for another 2 or 3 bats. On a slate like this, 2 or 3 bats can be all the difference. Maeda has had a super rocky career, but seems to be consistent for the most part. He's held a .294 combined wOBA on the season and doesn't have trouble with any one particular type of hitter. Instead, he runs into trouble with free-swinging teams that jump on his early-count strikes....
