Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/13/18 Welcome to Friday Baseball! We have a weird 2-game early slate available, but the real meat and potatoes is with the 13 main slate games. We have a few different pitchers worth considering and a ton of different offenses. Let's get to it! Pitcher Gerrit Cole FD 10000 DK 12100 Opponent - TEX (Mike Minor) Park - HOUFD - 18.89 DK - 7.13 We’ll kick things off with one of the more pleasant surprises of the early 2018 season. The Pirates are surely happy with Jameson Taillon as their perspective ace, but Gerrit Cole isn’t a guy you can possibly be comfortable letting go. He’s an ace by every measure of the word and looks to be turning a corner this season. The only problem spot for Cole is his .335 wOBA against lefties, but that’s expected to drop. He’s started the campaign on fire, tossing 22 K’s in 14 innings over just two starts. One of those game was against this Rangers squad, who are projected to score just 3.08 runs in Minute Maid Park. The lineup has some big names, but they’re better against lefties and can strikeout with the best of them. Cole is going to be expensive, but he’s worth it if you expect an encore of his first couple games. Vince Velasquez FD 6700 DK 7900 Opponent - TB (Jacob Faria) Park - TBFD - 13.82 DK - 4.39 If you're wanting to pay down, you have a pretty solid option in Vince Velasquez. If you have been playing DFS, you're well aware of Vince Velasquez. He was a gem in 2016, posting a 10+ K/9 and was one of the biggest surprises of the season. He then came back in 2017 and struggled mightily, but still struck out 8.5 batters per nine innings. He's now extremely cheap and gets to face off with one of the absolute worst offenses in all of baseball. The Tampa Bay Rays are projected just 3.94 runs and if you look at the order, there isn't a single lefty to be afraid of. They strikeout over 22% of the time against righties and I think Velasquez is somewhat safe for the price. First Base/Catcher Francisco Cervelli FD 2400 DK 3400 Opponent - MIA (Dillon Peters) Park - MIAFD -...

Pitcher Early Lance McCullers Jr. FD 8800 DK 11100 Opponent - MIN (Kyle Gibson) Park - MIN FD - 34.85 DK - 18.5 This early slate isn’t the greatest in terms of pitching. We definitely have some solid options, but nothing that really stands out. Lance McCullers has pitched well to start the season but just has to iron out some wrinkles. Over just 10.1 innings, McCullers has struck out 17 batters and given up four runs. He can put 10 K’s in the box with ease and this match-up is another favorable one. The Twins have ranked 21st against righties this year and while its way too early to use that number, the lineup backs it up. They have a lot of volatile bats and while they can hit homers, they can also go down easy and give away a game. McCullers is also volatile, but he at least has those 6+ strikeouts guaranteed. He’s my favorite play in all formats on the slate and I’ll probably have him everywhere. The only other way I could see going is James Paxton, but I hate his pitch count for the match-up he’s in. I’ll stick to the best curveball in baseball. Main Zack Wheeler FD 6000 DK 7500 Opponent - MIA (Jarlin Garcia) Park - MIA FD - 30.47 DK - 15.75 The top point per dollar play on the night is Zack Wheeler. If you're looking to pay up, Lester, Tanaka, Price, and Wood all have upside. They are just not in great match-ups and could easily bust. Wheeler is facing the Marlins, whose putrid lineup has an identical run total to those that the stars are facing, if not even lower (3.76). Wheeler was one of the biggest prospects in baseball for a few years and just kept getting injured. He's always electric when pitching and will sometimes just lose control. If he's on his game against the Marlins, 7+ strikeouts is easy. The leash is around 90-100 pitches and the price is just too low. Look at this lineup. Outside of Justin Bour and Dietrich, they have zero above average hitters against righties. The ballpark is huge and the ball doesn't fly all that well at night. Wheeler is a great option in all formats and is...

Pitcher Max Scherzer FD 11100 DK 12600 Opponent - ATL (Julio Teheran) Park - WSH FD - 45.21 DK - 25.1 Welcome to MLB Monday! We’re going to kick this article off with two of the five best pitchers on this planet. Max Scherzer is the lead dog and who the MLB optimizer prefers on both FD and DK. He gets another match-up with the Braves, who are fresh out of Coors Field. He faced these same Braves last time out and disappointed. His defense screwed up and he gave up 3 unearned runs to start, and it just unwound from there. His strikeouts were still there and he walked away with seven in just five innings of work. He’ll now get to host the Braves in Nationals Parks, where he’s a whole lot more comfortable. He’s held a 10+ K/9 and boasts a combined wOBA under .240. Dominant is the only word to describe Max Scherzer. Outside of Freddie Freeman, this Braves lineup is weak. They’ll also strikeout a lot more this season than they did last. Scherzer is expensive, but he should go lower owned because of that last start and has just as much upside and safety as ever. Noah Syndergaard FD 10800 DK 12300 Opponent - MIA (Jose Urena) Park - MIA FD - 40.66 DK - 22.6 For me, Scherzer and Syndergaard are equal. I have both of them in 50% of lineups as of now and will likely lean one way by the time lock comes. He's actually been somewhat meh this year, allowing six runs combined in his first two starts. His strikeout stuff has still been there and as someone who watched both starts, he seems fine. He seems a lot better than when he was struggling last season for many different reasons. These first two games were just variance and we're still looking at the elite Noah Syndergaard that can put up seven innings and ten strikeouts without blinking. This match-up against the Marlins couldn't be any better. The Marlins are projected at just 3.02 runs, which is easily the lowest on the day. They're expected to put up just two or three lefties and Syndergaard strikes out righties at a 30.7% clip. I don't think you can go wrong with either of...

Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 4/8/18

Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/8/18   Welcome to Sunday baseball! With 15 games on our hands, there’s a whole lot to look at. FanDuel has done is a favor and cut it back to 10, pushing away the games that start after 3:00. I actually really like what FD did, getting rid of Coors Field and Clayton Kershaw in the process, who would’ve made the slate a little more chalky. I much prefer what we’re working with now, so let’s just jump in. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! First time with MLB? Be sure to read our free MLB Ebooks on building lineups, general strategy and more. We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Charlie Morton FD 9100 DK 11500 Opponent - SD (Tyson Ross) Park - SD FD - 36.95 DK - 19.68 Charlie Morton is the most expensive pitcher on both sites and certainly worth footing the bill for. He went six innings in his first start and ended up striking out six and grabbing the W. Morton was a bit weird in 2017, struggling against righties (.345 wOBA) and demolishing lefties (.229 wOBA). For a righty, those numbers are very extreme. Morton also upped his K rate to over 10 innings per 9. Tonight, he sees a phenomenal match-up with the San Diego Padres. They’re a team who’s lumped in with the Marlins and White Sox as a bottom tier offense. When you look at the order, it’s not hard to see why. Here’s the top 4 - Manuel Margot, Jose Pirela, Eric Hosmer, Christian Villanueva. You can figure how good the rest of the order is when those are the four scariest. The strikeouts won’t be tough to come by and neither should the win. Morton is extremely safe in all formats and the top pitcher on the day if salary wasn’t a thing. Also to note, Morton is incredibly expensive on DK, so don’t be afraid to pivot to one of these next two options. Jake Arrieta FD 8900 DK 9700 Opponent - MIA (Trevor Richards) Park - MIA FD - 30.95 DK - 16.13 Here we have another very solid match-up on the high-end. Priced just a little bit under Charlie Morton, he’s worth pivoting to if you prefer the spot. Arrieta and the Phillies will host the worst offense in baseball, the Miami Marlins. Starlin Castro and Justin Bour are MLB-quality hitters. Brinson and Dietrich stink, but are serviceable. The other four position guys should be in AAA,...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. FD 7900 DK 12300 Opponent - SD (Luis Perdomo) Park - HOU FD - 36.82 DK - 19.54 Welcome to Friday baseball! We have 7 fun games on the board with another two in a mini-slate that starts at 4. There are some options at pitcher, but I don’t think any one option is superior or a must in cash games. I do think Lance McCullers is the best play, though. He went just 5.1 innings last game, but struck out 10 and grabbed the W, eeking himself to 45 FanDuel points. He now draws a match-up against a Padres squad that’s expected to rank in the bottom five against righties. They also strikeout a ton (26.5%) and don’t do much walking. If you look at the order, you'll learn a lot from seeing Eric Hosmer in the 3-hole and rookie Christian Villanueva at cleanup. The bottom of the order is AAA caliber and McCuller should have some fun with them. He's posted a 3.11 xFIP and 9.87 K/9 in Minute Maid and is truly an elite pitcher when in that ballpark. Facing what may be the worst offense in baseball, he should be able to coast to another 8+ Ks and the ‘Stros should have the win locked up, making McCullers the safest option on the board with a ton of upside. Luis Castillo FD 7200 DK 8700 Opponent - PIT (Trevor Williams) Park - PIT FD - 32.24 DK - 16.89 If you’re looking to go a little bit cheaper, Luis Castillo is a guy that we will be targeting all season long. He has the type of strikeout upside that can win you a tournament or keep you in a game. In his first start, he gave up six runs to the Washington Nationals. You can’t blame him as they are one of the two or three toughest lineups on paper to face. He still got his strikeouts, though, and they will always be there at over 1 per inning. Tonight, Castillo is seeing a much friendlier match-up against the Pirates, who were middle of the road against righties in ‘17 and only lost good hitters. They have some decent bats up to the 5 (still K a lot) with Corey Dickerson, but...
