GOALIE EARLY Devan Dubnyk FD - $8700 DK - $8100 Opponent - COL Proj Pts FD - 13.9 DK - 3.47 The goalie position is tough for the early slate today, as we have some poor goalies, as well as some good goalies in very tough matchups. Enter Dubnyk who falls into the latter category as Colorado is ranked 6th offensively while scoring 3.40 goals per game. The veteran tender has allowed 12 goals in his last three games, but Minnesota's offense has been on fire lately and he had an amazing three shutouts in a row previously, which gives him a 6-0-1 record in his last seven games. Dubnyk has been notoriously better on home-ice in his career and he is my top goalie in all formats for the early slate. Also Consider: Martin Jones (SJ) GPP formats only. LATE Sergei Bobrovsky FD - $9000 DK - $8100 Opponent - OTT Proj Pts FD - 14.85 DK - 4.32 I thought there was no way that anyone could slow the flames down until two nights ago when goalie Bob slammed the door on them while surrendering only a single goal. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner has now won his last five starts with a stifling 0.79 GAA and two shutouts. The Senators have scored only three goals in their last three games and Bobvrovsky leads the league with a 2.02 GAA and a .933 save %. GOALIE Ben Bishop FD - $8600 DK - $7800 Opponent - MON Proj Pts FD - 15.85 DK - 3.96 This pick is more about tonight's opponent and not who is between the pipes for the Stars, although it looks like Bishop will get the start and after two awful performances, he stopped all 18 shots last game in a relief victory. The Canadiens are a mess right now as they just lost 6-0 to the Maple Leafs and they score only 2.38 goals per game, which is second worst in the league. Everything points to a Stars victory this evening and Bishop is my top goalie in all formats. Also Consider: Jake Allen (Stl) CENTERS Sean Couturier FD - $6700 DK - $6600 Opponent - VAN Proj Pts FD - 12 DK - 3.34 The young Canadian seems to have a permanent role on the top line for the Flyers and he already has 12 goals this season, which is second best among centers and he has a powerplay goal in each of his last two games while firing ten shots on goal. The Canucks have allowed nine goals in their last two games, so fire Couturier up with confidence in all formats. GOALIE Henrik Lundqvist FD - $8900 DK - $7800 Opponent - OTT Proj Pts FD - 15.4 DK - 3.85 The goalie spot isn't the easiest to decipher today especially since there are no Vegas odds available at the time of this writing. On that note, though, there are a couple of veteran goalies that have been playing well and they both have home matchups against teams who will be playing in back-to-back games. Let's start with King Henrik who stopped 40 of 42 shots last game and even though he's lost his last two starts, he's been playing awesome and he had six wins in a row previously. Ottawa is solid offensively, but they will be tired and Lundqvist is a solid play in all formats. Jimmy Howard FD - $8000 DK - $8000 Opponent - COL Proj Pts FD - 13.07 DK - 3.27 I'm thinking that it may be a good idea to split our exposure to these two tenders today. Howard has been stellar in his last four starts as he is 3-0-1 while allowing only six goals in those four starts. The Av's are also solid offensively, but they will also be tired this evening and they only scored two goals on Saturday in Nashville. I am planning on using both of these guys in cash games, but I slightly prefer Howard in GPP lineups because I feel that he won't be as popular as King Henrik. GOALIE Early Mike Condon FD - $7400 DK - $8200 Opponent - ARI Proj Pts FD - 13.69 DK - 3.42 I'm not in love with this pick, but anyone who gets between the pipes against the Coyotes and their league-worst offense deserves consideration and today it's Mike Condon who is 1-0-1 in three starts, but he has a below average 3.01 GAA and a .906 save percentage. I'm willing to ignore his sub-par numbers today though and side with the Vegas odds which are currently -195 in favor of the Senators. Condon is a fine cash game play for the early slate. Also Consider: Ben Bishop (Dal) GPP formats Late Andrei Vasilevskiy FD - $9500 DK - $8100 Opponent - NYI Proj Pts FD - 15.21 DK - 3.8 It isn't only Tampa Bay's offense that has been spectacular, their defensive play and especially their goaltending has been phenomenal as well. This young tender has yet to lose a game in regulation time on home ice and he has a ridiculous record of 14-1-1 and he has only allowed one goal in each of his last three games. Las Vegas thinks that the Lightning will win tonight as they are currently listed as -185 favorites and Vasilevskiy is completely matchup proof until proven otherwise. The Russian goalie is my top choice in cash game formats for the evening slate. GOALIE John Gibson FD - $8500 DK - $8200 Opponent - BOS Proj Pts FD - 17.64 DK - 4.41 This is a tough slate with only three games, so we have to play with the cards that we have been dealt with. There is no such thing as "safety" involved with today's picks, so let's start with Gibson who hasn't been great lately as he has given up nine goals in his last three games, but he stopped 35 of 37 shots that came his way in his last game in a tough loss against a very powerful Lightning squad. The Bruins are ranked 22nd in offense with only 2.75 goals scored per game, so he looks like our best option today for our GPP lineups. Also Consider: Corey Crawford(CHI) CENTERS Sean Monahan FD - $7600 DK - $7100 Opponent - DET Proj Pts FD - 15.07 DK - 4.27 Like I said above, this is a tough slate for safety, so let's keep focusing on some core GPP plays. Monahan had only two shots on goal last game, but he was on a six-game point streak before that as he recorded three goals to go along with five assists and even though Detroit is solid defensively, this young man and his linemates seem to be firing on cylinders, so starting your lineups with him feels like a good choice today.
