The floor and ceiling are both outrageous against the Timberwolves, who have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing point guards this season. Malachi Flynn FD - $5500 DK - $5700 Opponent - CHI Proj Pts FD - 28.65 DK - 29.07 With basically the entire Raptors team ruled out for Thursday, we get the chance to run Malachi Flynn as close to a one-man band. He's paid nearly 6x points per dollar in each of his last two games, and the Raptors are even thinner tonight than they were then. It's a league-average match-up, but this is a straight-up price and opportunity mismatch that we're happy to take advantage of. Also considered: Ben Simmons. Shooting Guard Devin Booker FD - $7500 DK - $8300 Opponent - POR Proj Pts FD - 45.19 DK - 47.31 Now if this isn't a marquee match-up, I'm not sure what is. The Trail Blazers are battling tooth and nail to stay out of the play-in game, and the Suns are battling for the #1 seed. Great stuff. Booker has been solid on these prices all season, and has been cresting toward 39-40 minute rotations as the Suns stay hungry down the stretch. Portland, meanwhile, will be on the second half of a back-to-back after facing the actual #1 seed Jazz on Wednesday. I love Booker as a cash game option here. In his last four games, he's averaged 22.25 points, 18.75 assists, and 17.25 rebounds. Those are literal video game numbers, and with the Wizards crushing right now it's hard to imagine Russ slowing down. Atlanta is a bottom 10 defense this season, and Westbrook should have no problem putting up his typically huge numbers. Did I mention that Beal has already been ruled out? Yeah, this is a "Westbrook everywhere" situation. Trae Young FD - $8400 DK - $9300 Opponent - WAS Proj Pts FD - 45.75 DK - 48.49 While Russ has been fantastic offensively recently, the Wizards remain an all-world match-up for opposing DFS studs. They've allowed the fifth most fantasy points per game to opposing point guards this season, and have allowed a minimum of 125 points in their last 5 games. Young is playing 35+ minute rotations, and the amount of extra possessions in this game should give him a fantastic floor for cash games. Don't sleep on Raul Neto with Beal already ruled out of this one. Shooting Guard C.J. McCollum FD - $7600 DK - $7800 Opponent - HOU Proj Pts FD - 42.96 DK - 44.24 McCollum is a well-known commodity at this point, averaging almost exactly 5x points per dollar on these prices on relatively consistent opportunity this season. We'd be intrigued by McCollum in even a normal match-up, but this one is anything but. The Rockets have been the very most generous teams to opposing shooting guards this season, allowing a league-leading 45.1 FanDuel points a game to them. I love McCollum in the mid-tier price range today. He has better peripherals (nearly 1 extra K/9, and an xFIP a whole run lower), he's cheaper, and he arguably has the better match-up. The Rangers have the 6th highest K rate this season, and a wOBA .006 points behind the Giants. I'll grab Wood, and the savings, and feel pretty good about it. Tyler Mahle FD - P 8900 DK - SP 9400 Opponent - PIT (Mitch Keller) Park - PIT FD - 30.5 DK - 15.98 Speaking of incredible stories to start the season, have you glanced at Tyler Mahle's line so far? He's not going deep into games, but he's averaging 12+ K/9 with a 3.53 xFIP. That's incredible production. He's also got a great match-up with the Pirates, who have managed just a .291 wOBA this season, good for 2nd worst in the Majors. I think Wood is a little safer given the longer track record, but don't be surprised to see big Mahle ownership as well. Catcher/First Base C.J. Cron FD - 1B 3400 DK - 1B 4100 Opponent - SD (Dinelson Lamet) Park - COL FD - 10.32 DK - 7.78 First base is pretty thin today, and while it isn't exactly accurate to say we're reaching to play a first baseman in Coors, it feels that way to some degree. Cron has fulfilled his sleeper status this season, raking to the tune of a .999 OPS at home this year. Dinelson Lamet doesn't present a great match-up on paper, but he only threw 30 pitches last game as the Padres continue to stretch him out. There is plenty of time for Cron to pay these paltry prices, and I'm fine taking his floor on a day like today. Yuli Gurriel FD - 1B 3400 DK - 1B 5100 Opponent - LAA (Alex Cobb) Park - HOU FD - 9.04 DK - 6.93 Why are we running a 36 year old who came up at age 31 in a match-up where he doesn't even have the platoon in his favor? It's tough for the Dubs to blow people out without Curry's offense, though, so I think he's a great play regardless of the game script. Alex Caruso FD - $3900 DK - $4100 Opponent - LAC Proj Pts FD - 20.83 DK - 20.38 This is truly an easy one. With Schroder still in the Covid protocol, Caruso is a near lock for 26+ minutes in what rates to be a tight contest with the Clippers. He paid 6x on these prices last game, and honestly, there is upside for more, even in a tough match-up. Also considered: Reggie Jackson. Shooting Guard Fred VanVleet FD - $8000 DK - $8000 Opponent - WAS Proj Pts FD - 43.18 DK - 43.75 VanVleet is a funny recommendation because while the recent game log paints a picture of a fantastic value at these prices, it's easy to forget that both of those games were without Lowry. With Lowry left off the injury report for tonight's game, we can't expect FVV to be at quite those levels, so what do we do? Well, we readjust our expectations for the match-up. The Wizards have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing shooting guards this season, and this game has the second-highest total on the slate. There isn't huge upside here, but there is enough floor that you can run him in cash. Damian Lillard FD - $8900 DK - $9200 Opponent - ATL Proj Pts FD - 45.8 DK - 48.37,p> It's looking like a day to pay up at point guard, with Lillard sliding into the number two spot in our point guard rankings tonight. This is the rare opportunity where an expensive option can be a value play, with Lillard being largely priced to a slightly limited post-injury role. Well, he broke out in a big way against Brooklyn (including that ridiculous logo shot), and if he's firing on all cylinders, he's probably 10% too cheap. A Trae Young-led backcourt defense isn't going to scare Dame either, and you can bet he'll be looking to knock this young'n down a peg. Also considered: Ben Simmons, if you think the Bulls can keep it close. Shooting Guard Jordan Clarkson FD - $6500 DK - $7300 Opponent - SA Proj Pts FD - 34.5 DK - 36.53 Some people will take a "once bitten, twice shy" approach with Clarkson, but not me. No, he didn't live up to the DFS community's lofty expectations for him against Toronto with Conley and Mitchell out, but it very easily could have broken differently for him.
