LOW THREAT OF A PPD; LOW TO MODERATE THREAT OF A DELAY It is always seems rain threatens COL but they are able to play through it and tonight is not an exception as CIN visits the Rockies. Here are the simulated radars for 8 and 9 PM: Tonight the activity, for a lack of a better word, looks pretty wimpy. I will keep an eye on the region but right now it does not look very threatening. EXTREMELY LOW CHANCE OF A PPD; LOW CHANCE OF A DELAY   Good Hitting Environments: -WSH at PHL will experience warm temperatures and a light breeze blowing out to left. -Expect warm temps, high levels of humidity and a light breeze blowing out for SF at ATL.  -LAD at CHC will see mild temperatures and a light breeze blowing out to right. -CIN at COL will see a wind blowing out to left as well as extreme low air density. Poor Hitting Environments: -Temps remain on the cool side for DET at LAA -NYY at TOR will see rather cool temps and  light breeze blowing in from right IF the roof is open.  -Unusually dry air and a light breeze blowing in from left for TB at KC.  Thirsty for more weather? Here is the 7 PM simulated radar: PPD RISK VERY LOW, LOW TO MODERATE DELAY RISK The SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has both Kansas City and Chicago in the risk area for tstorms tonight. LAD at CHC. Here is the simulated radar for 8 PM:  Looks somewhat bad but thinking is that this may be overdone. Let's look at the surface map for this time: A stationary front is to their north while a cold front is to their west. Basically, there is no surface features right on top of them, they are just in a warm and humid airmass with thunderstorms moving well out ahead of the cold front. This generally means that the rain is NOT steady and tstorms will weaken after the sun sets until the cold front is closer to them. Thus, while this area needs to be watched carefully, I think they will be able to play. LOW TO MODERATE CHANCE OF PPD; MODERATE TO HIGH CHANCE OF DELAYS TB at KC is a higher threat for a PPD than the game in Chicago. The cold front is right on top of them this evening. That means tstorms will be numerous. Let's look at a simulated radar for 8 PM: The short term model I use the most really does not agree with my statement that this game is more worrisome. However, this model, which is better in the medium range, agrees: But even this model shows that the back edge is near KC and that they should be able to play. LOW TO MAYBE MODERATE CHANCE OF A PPD; MODERATE CHANCE OF ANY TYPE OF DELAY(S)   CIN at COL...

We've got you completely covered. Check out last night's MLB Picks to get you started Brief Summary: PPD Threat: TEX, COL (both low) Delay Threat: CLE, WSH, KC, NYM (all 4 slight) BLT at CLE will see a few showers or thunderstorms around. Here is the simulated radar for 4 PM (yes I know the game starts at 1:10) The reason why I am showing this rather late time is because before this, the simulated radars are very quiet, widely scattered. This is the 1st time frame, according to this model, where CLE see organized rain nearby. So while it looks like most, if not all, of the game should be dry, if the game goes long or if the rain comes in a bit earlier, there could be some issues. VERY LOW CHANCE OF PPD, LOW TO MODERATE CHANCE OF A DELAY LATE IN THE GAME (AFTER 3:30 PM EDT) Rain loosely associated with Tropical Storm Bonnie should move into the nation's Capital AFTER 4 PM. I will keep an eye on this region, but much like the game in CLE, most, if not all of this game should be dry. EXTREMELY LOW CHANCE OF A PPD; LOW CHANCE OF A DELAY LATE A few widely scattered tstorms will be around ChW at KC. Almost not worth mentioning but I will watch this region. Here is the 3 PM simulated radar:  You can see that nothing SHOULD affect them...but you never know for sure. That is why I will keep an eye on them. EXTREMELY LOW CHANCE OF PPD, LOW CHANCE OF A DELAY PIT at TEX will see some tstorm activity nearby. Here is the simulated radar for 3 PM:  I will have to watch this area closely. Certainly not a washout but the threat is there for rain and thunder at times. LOW THREAT FOR PPD, LOW TO MODERATE THREAT FOR DELAY(S) Showers and thunderstorms...

We've got you completely covered. Check out last night's MLB Picks to get you started Brief Summary: PPD Threats:  None Delay Threats: KC (slight), CHC (slight), CLE, COL CHW at KC and PHL at CHC will see a few showers scattered about the regions. Simulated radars for 3 PM: Not talking a big deal here. Worst case scenario is a brief delay and even that probably does not happen. BLT at CLE will see a few showers/rumbles of thunder nearby. Simulated radar for 5 PM: A bit more activity expected than either in KC or CHC. The game should start dry but there could be some heavy showers at almost anytime. LOW CHANCE OF PPD; LOW TO MODERATE CHANCE OF DELAY SF at COL will be another game to watch as there will be showers and t-storms around but much like the other games, THE RISK OF PPD IS LOW 5 PM simulated radar:  Not too threatening but if one of the showers were right out top of Coors Field, then a delay could result. LOW TO MODERATE RISK OF DELAY(S) Good Hitting Environments: -Mild with a light breeze blowing out to center for KC at CHW. -A strong wind blowing out to left-center at Wrigley will help out betters for the PHL at CHC game. -Warmer than average temperatures and a decent wind blowing out to right means that DET at OAK batters may have an advantage over pitchers.   -BLT at CLE will see warm temperatures and a breeze blowing out to right-center.   -SF at COL will see the huge advantage of extremely low air density plus a light wind blowing out to center. -PIT at TEX almost summer-like temperatures. -Warm temperatures with a breeze blowing out to left-center for STL at WSH.  -LAD at NYM will see mild weather with a light breeze blowing out to center.  Poor Hitting Environments: -Compared to the abundance...

We've got you completely covered. Check out last night's MLB Picks to get you started Brief Summary: Summer warmth, humidity and tstorms PPD Threats: KC, CHC, COL Delay Threats: NYM (slight), ATL (slight), CLE (slight), TX The afternoon game at Wrigley Field will see rain at times. Here are the simulated radars at 2 and 3 PM respectively: The rain is not expected to be overly heavy nor steady. There is risk here but they could just as easily play this one through the rain. MODERATE THREAT OF A PPD OR SOME TYPE OF DELAY LAD at NYM will see a few tstorms affecting the region. Here are the 7 and 8 PM simulated radars respectively: PPD THREAT IS MINIMAL. DELAY THREAT IS HIGHER, ~ 20% CHANCE OF A DELAY AT SOME POINT A small risk of a shower/tstorm for both MIA at ATL and BLT at CLE. I won't post simulated radars for these pair of locations unless the weather becomes more worrisome. EXTREMELY LOW CHANCE OF A DELAY OR PPD Though the highest risk of severe weather should be north of PIT at TEX, we can not rule out some tstorm activity near Arlington tonight. Here is the simulated radar for 8 PM: Let's go LOW CHANCE OF A PPD; LOW TO MODERATE CHANCE OF SOME SORT OF DELAY More severe weather is possible around CHW at KC. Here is the simulated radar for 8 PM: Looks eerily similar to last night. MODERATE PPD RISK, MODERATE TO HIGH DELAY RISK DEN will see some chilly rain tonight. Here is the simulated radar for 8 PM: There will be several bands of rain that rotate in and out of the region all day long. If the ballpark happens to be under one that is slow moving, then we have a LOW TO MODERATE RISK OF A PPD; A MODERATE RISK OF ANY TYPE OF DELAY. Good Hitting...
