Check out last night's MLB Picks to get you started Brief Summary: PPD Threat: None Delay Threat: CIN (25%), ATL (25%), COL (20%) Good Hitting Environments: CIN, ATL, PIT Poor Hitting Environments: TOR, SF Forecasting Analysis: OAK @ CIN A few showers and tstorms will develop across the Ohio Valley Region. I do not expect the rain to be widespread or organized as can be seen by the simulated radar for 3 PM: VERY LOW CHANCE OF PPD; LOW TO MAYBE MODERATE CHANCE OF DELAY(S) CHC @ ATL Much like the game above, the region will see scattered showers and tstorms. The simulated radar for 1 PM is forecast to look like this:    Almost a carbon copy of what the weather should look like near CIN. Though the region can see some rain, I am not seeing a high PPD threat. Sure, could a cell sit right on the stadium and dump rain on them? Yes, but the chances of that are rather low. LOW CHANCE OF PPD; LOW TO MODERATE CHANCE OF ANY TYPE OF DELAY(S)  BOS@MIN Wet weather should hold off until after the game. VERY LOW CHANCE OF PPD/ANY TYPE OF DELAY(S) SD@COL Like the set up yesterday, showers and tstorms will form in the Rockies and will drift off of them. Here is what the radar should look like at 4 and 6 PM respectively: 6 PM: So the models are forecasting the rain to come off the mountains and possibly impact the game. This model seems to have a bias of doing that. Everytime that it does this, I look at the surface map and see if there is any "trigger" for this activity: Notice that a) I highlighted the game with some delay/PPD risks and b) that there is no surface feature that will cause the showers and thunderstorms to...

Check out last night's MLB Picks to get you started Brief Summary: PPD Threat: MIN(10%) Delay Threat: CHW(20%), MIN(30%) Good Hitting Environment: TEX, COL(off the charts good), NYY, MIN Poor Hitting Environment: SEA Forecasting Analysis: PIT@COL A slight chance of a few popup showers. If the situation becomes more threatening, I will add some radar/simulated radars but right now I do not think that is necessary. EXTREMELY LOW CHANCE OF PPD/ANY TYPE OF DELAY(S) WSH@CHW  A warm front will be lifting north through the city today. Accompanying a warm front is generally a solid, but not overly heavy, band of rain that pushes from south to north. Well, that generally sums up the weather in the Windy City today. The good news is that by scheduled 1st pitch, the rain should already be north of the city. 8 PM simulated radar:    The concern here is that the timing is off and the rain is still affecting the South Side around 8. Though that does not seem likely, I will keep an eye on this region. LOW CHANCE OF PPD OR OF ANY TYPE OF DELAY(S) MIA@MIN The same warm front pushing through Chicago will be near Minneapolis. However, this far northwest, the solid shield of rain is broken up and we have more scattered cells of rain and some thunder. Here is what the radar should look like around 8 PM: So we have a sort of disorganized, broken line of tstorms. With the front being close by, I think this game is a bit riskier than the one in Chicago. LOW TO MAYBE MODERATE PPD OR ANY TYPE OF DELAY RISK Thirsty for more weather? Unless something threatens a particular location and I need to go into more detail, I will just leave this here so that you know the VERY small risk in each location. VERY LOW CHANCE OF PPD OR DELAY. Check out last night's MLB Picks to get you started Brief Summary: PPD Threats: None Delay Threats: CLE(40%), DET(50%), BAL(35%), PHL(40%), PIT(35%), BOS(25%) Good Hitting Environments: CLE, BAL, PHL, DET, BOS, TEX Poor Hitting Environments: MIA, SD, LAD Forecasting Analysis:                                                           KC at CLE A line of tstorms associated with a cold front will approach during the game. 1 PM simulated radar: Looks like an in-game delay threat for sure! LOW CHANCE OF A PPD, MODERATE CHANCE OF AN IN-GAME DELAY                                                   CHW at DET The same line of tstorms mentioned above will affect DET about an hour or so earlier. By 2-3 PM these tstorms should be out of the Motor City's hair. LOW TO MAYBE MODERATE CHANCE OF A PPD (SINCE THIS GAME MAY NOT START DRY); MODERATE CHANCE OF SOME TYPE OF DELAY(S)                                              NYY at BAL, MIL at PHL Tstorms, some severe, will rattle the mid-Atlantic region today. I will lump these 2 games in because they start at the same time and of how close they are to each other. 1 PM simulated radar: So they both should start dry. Whenever a game starts, they do everything in their power to finish it, or at least go the 5 innings they need it to become an official game. Seems like things do not get real nasty this far east until around 4 PM: Hopefully, by this time, both these games are over or very close to being done. There is some risk that tstorms could pop up at any time this afternoon to cause a delay earlier than 4 PM. LOW PPD RISK, MODERATE TO HIGH DELAY RISK ESPECIALLY LATER IN THE GAME                                                     ...

We've got you completely covered. Check out last night's MLB Picks to get you started   Brief Summary: PPD Threat: None Delay Threat: ATL, BLT (low), PHL (very low), SF at ATL will start dry but will see tstorms develop as we go through the game. By 3 PM, the radar should look like this: While this game does not have a very high PPD threat, an in-game delay certainly looks like a possibility. VERY LOW CHANCE OF A PPD; LOW TO MODERATE CHANCE OF AN IN-GAME DELAY The 1st pair of night games with any type of PPD/delay threat will be BOS at BLT and MIL at PHL. A line of semi-organized tstorms will approach this pair of games after the 1st pitch in each location. By 8 PM, the radar near them should look like this: So, not too different than the game in ATL, dry to start but an in-game delay threat. VERY LOW CHANCE OF A PPD, LOW TO MODERATE IN-GAME DELAY THREAT BLT; LOW DELAY THREAT IN PHL AS THE MODELING AS THE TSTORMS WEAKENING AND TAKING LONGER TO REACH THEM   Good Hitting Environments: -Warm and humid with a light breeze blowing out to left-center for SF at ATL. -NYY at DET will see relatively mild temps and a light breeze blowing out to left.   -TB at MIN will see a light breeze blowing out, 1st to center and then to left.   -CIN at COL will have both extreme low air density and the wind blowing out.   -Though still not a "great" hitting environment, Petco Park will be 5-10 degrees warmer than normal.   Poor Hitting Environments: -None stand out as particularly bad, except for maybe PIT at MIA as the ball does not carry well with the roof closed.
