Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 6/16/18 Saturday in the majors gives us a full day of baseball action. We've got studs on the hill throwing heat, and studs at the plate swinging some hefty lumber. There's plenty to break down as we look at the best options for our FanDuel and DraftKings lineups determined by our MLB projection system, let's take a look at some of the top plays of the day. Pitcher Max Scherzer FD 12000 DK 14000 Opponent - TOR (Marco Estrada) Park - TOR FD - 45 DK - 25.22 There's no question who the top pitcher on the day is, and though he is most certainly priced accordingly on both sites, we may have to bite the bullet in cash games and sacrifice our bats. Max Scherzer is once again, playing on a whole 'nother level this season. It seems back to back Cy Young awards may not be enough for him, as we inch closer to the All-Star break, Mad Max seems to be going for the trifecta. Max is throwing a career-best 2.49 xFIP which is just 0.02 points off of Jacob deGrom's best in baseball. He's also striking out 13.5 batters per nine, a whole batter higher than second place Gerrit Cole. Today he'll face the Toronto Blue Jays, who come into the day sporting a just below average .311 team wOBA and strikeout at a 23.2% clip. They aren't demonstrating a ton of power to this point in the year, and will certainly struggle to produce against arguably the best arm in the game right now. I can see the case for fading Max in tournaments for separation, but with a floor and ceiling as high as this, you at least have to consider Scherzer in all formats. Carlos Carrasco FD 10300 DK 12300 Opponent - MIN (Fernando Romero) Park - CLE FD - 37.88 DK - 20.49 If you do fade Max, you could do much worse than turn to Carlos Carrasco. Both Scherzer and Carrasco see similar matchups today, as the Indians continue their weekend series hosting the Twins. Minnesota is ranked similarly to Toronto both in team wOBA (.310) and in k% (22.5). Carrasco has a far worse park factor to contend with as Progressive field is ranked just behind Coors Field as hitters parks...

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 6/9/18

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 6/9/18 We already highlighted Jon Lester and Charlie Morton in our Saturday picks article. We also highlighted the Astros and the game in Coors Field as popular game stacks at their respective team price points. Here we will look at some other (possible GPP) considerations. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! First time with MLB? Be sure to read our free MLB Ebooks on building lineups, general strategy and more. We've got you completely covered. Pitchers David Price FD 8000 DK 9200 Opponent - CHW (Carlos Rodon) Park - BOS FD - 36.4 DK - 19.66 Both Blake Snell and Jon Lester are in good spots today in positive matchups with solid win projections, but neither comes close to David Price of the Red Sox. Boston is far and away the favorite of the day with a strong -230 opening line against the White Sox. It's been a roller coaster season for Price, and he's posting a 4.24 xFIP, second highest of his career. He has settled in nicely however over his last several contests, surrendering three runs or less in each of his last five starts. The White Sox have a poor .300 combined team wOBA against southpaws this season, ranked seventh worst in the majors, striking out at a horrible 27.7% clip. The risk with Price lies in the endurance. He hasn't gone deep often, failing to make it out of the sixth in six of his 12 starts this year. If you think he can go deep Price is a fantastic option with tons of upside at a reasonable cost. Jake Arrieta FD 8300 DK 7800 Opponent - MIL (Brent Suter) Park - PHI FD - 29.87 DK - 15.21 The Phillies are hosting the Brewers for a weekend series in south Philadelphia. Milwaukee put a hurting on Vince Velasquez last night and then continued beating on the Phillies pen once Velasquez was retired. Philly will look to bounce back and even the series this afternoon with Jake Arrieta on the hill. Arrieta has been solid in his first season with the Phillies, posting a 3.92 xFIP. Before giving up five runs to the Giants last week, Arrieta had allowed just three earned runs total over his five previous starts. Milwaukee has an average .318 combined team wOBA with a 97 wRC+ against RHP and strikeout 24.6% of the time against the split providing a boost for Arrieta who is striking out two full batters less...

Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 6/9/18 Saturday, June 9th brings us an eleven game early set of games, with just four games on the main slate. Pitching is plentiful on the early slate, with only one way to turn at night making it tough to fit those Coors Field bats we covet so much. Let's jump right into it and take a look at our projection system's top plays and see where the value falls into place. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitcher EARLY Jon Lester FD 8400 DK 8200 Opponent - PIT (Nick Kingham) Park - CHC FD - 34.48 DK - 17.98 With eleven games on the docket for the afternoon and the top arm of the day on the shorter evening set, there's a wealth of options to consider on the hill in our early slate lineups. Gio, and Wacha are both decent options in favorable matchups, and though neither break the bank, I'm going to look a little lower down on the pricing tier for our first pick, allowing us plenty of freedom to go big in the sticks. John Lester takes the hill for the Cubs this afternoon in game two of the series against the Pirates. Lester isn't the flashiest name on the slate, despite the impressive 2.44 ERA, the xFIP is at it's highest point in a decade, and the 7.84 K/9 is the lowest since 2013 in Boston. Still, there's a lot to like about Lester today as the Cubbies come into the day as strong -180 favorites. Lester started the season out with some rough outings but has been much more consistent as of late, putting together his strongest fantasy performance of the season thus far against the Mets last weekend. He threw seven shutout innings, striking out a batter per inning and allowed just five base runners on his way to the win. Pittsburgh has a .319 wOBA with a 101 wRC+, and though they don't strikeout a ton, for the price, Lester is a strong play as cash options go. Blake Snell FD 9500 DK 11800 Opponent - SEA (Felix Hernandez) Park - TB FD - 35.79 DK - 18.73 If you have the funds to spend up on the early slate, then Blake Snell is a great way to go. Snell and the Rays host the Mariners down in...

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 6/2/18

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 6/2/18 We already highlighted Jacob deGrom and Zack Greinke in our Saturday, June 2nd picks article. We also highlighted the Dodgers on the road in Coors as a popular game stack at their respective team price points. Pitchers J.A. Happ FD 9500 DK 11100 Opponent - DET (Matthew Boyd) Park - DET FD - 34.15 DK - 17.83 I targeted J.A. Happ in our picks article with Victor Martinez, but that was due more to Martinez being such a strong value than Happ being a targetable pitcher. Quite the opposite. Happy has been phenomenal this season, posting the 14th best xFIP in the majors through the first two months (3.18, the same as Greinke who we spotlighted in our picks for the day), with his 10.83 K/9 sitting just outside the top ten overall. He's limiting the free passes with a 2.47 BB/9, second-best mark of his career. After a shaky start against the Mariners last month which he left in the fourth after giving up seven earned runs, he's limited the damage to two runs or less while going six-plus in each of his next three appearances. The matchup today isn't the greatest. Detroit has a .334 wOBA against southpaws while striking out just 17.5% of the time against the split. Happ meanwhile is developing into one of the elite arms of the game this season, and while he'll cost you more than Masahiro Tanaka on both sites, he's an absolute bargain on FanDuel for less than $10K. It's looking like a clear afternoon in Detroit where Happ and the Jays open as -139 favorites. Detroit could potentially get to him early, though even more likely is Happ posting another quality start and crushing value on the early slate making him a top GPP target. Vince Velasquez FD 8400 DK 9400 Opponent - SF (Andrew Suarez) Park - SF FD - 32.81 DK - 17.28 Can someone please tell me what to make of Vince Velasquez? It's been a Jekyll/Hyde kind of season for the Phillies right-hander, who closed out April allowing thirteen runs in his final three starts of the month but allowed only seven through 27.1 IP in his five May starts. Despite the roller coaster...

Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 6/2/18

Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 6/2/18 The first Saturday of June brings us split slate action with seven early and eight main slate games. We've got some solid arms on the hill, hitters in great matchups, and a game in Coors Field. So join me as we go through and break down the top plays as determined by our MLB projection system. Pitcher Early Masahiro Tanaka FD 8700 DK 9500 Opponent - BAL (Kevin Gausman) Park - BAL FD - 32.63 DK - 17.29 Pitching on the early slate is suspect, to say the least. All of the offenses are expected to put up some solid scoring, with every team projecting for four runs or better. The Orioles sit on the lower end of the curve, at 4.1 and will send Kevin Gausman to the hill to face the Yankees. It's for this reason that Masahiro Tanaka is one of the better options, as the Yanks are projecting for the most runs, which helps to make Tanaka and the Yanks an early -172 favorite. Tanaka has had some rough outings throughout the past month, but he finally seemed to put things together the last time out against the Angels, going six strong, allowing one earned run and striking out eight. The Orioles have a terrible .290 wOBA against the split and strike out at a 25.1% clip. Given some of the other arms on the slate, and a price tag that allows for some stronger options in the sticks, I'm good with rolling out Tanaka in all formats. Main Jacob deGrom FD 10600 DK 11500 Opponent - CHC (Mike Montgomery) Park - NYM FD - 39.29 DK - 21.49 Pitching on the main slate is a lot more appealing with several strong options to give consideration. First up we have Jacob deGrom and the Mets hosting the Cubs. The Cubs are once again proving to be one of the best offenses in the game, with the second best team wOBA in May, and the seventh lowest strikeout percentage against right-handed pitching this season. Today they will face a tall challenge however in the form of the third best xFIP in the majors this season. deGrom has allowed just two earned runs in his last 40.1 IP and has struck out eight or better in six of...
