Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 9/1/18 It's September y'all! That means three things--back to school, pumpkin spiced everything appearing in the supermarket, and pennant races heating up! We're going to overlook the two early games for this article, and zero in on the 13 game main slate starting at 7:05 ET. Let's get to the picks! Pitcher Stephen Strasburg FD 9400 DK 9000 Opponent - MIL (Chase Anderson) Park - WSH FD - 34.4 DK - 18.87 No need to splurge on the hill tonight, we've got Kershaw and Corbin going head to head, and nobody in the top tier is overwhelming the system as a top points per dollar play, so we'll instead look to keep things on the cheap side and kick things off with Stras. With a sub $10K price tag across the industry, the system is riding high on Stephen Strasburg hosting the Brewers in Nationals Park. Washington opens as favorites with a comfortable -138 line. Strasburg was rolling along this season, with a 2.99 xFIP and 10.64 K/9 going into his June first start in Atlanta, then a pinched nerve in his neck threw his season into upheaval. With some time spent on the DL, his last four starts have seen him fail to go five full IP three times with the xFIP up to 3.13 and the ERA over 4.00 for the first time ever. There is reason for optimism though as his last start in Philly saw him go six innings, while holding Philadelphia to just two earned runs on eight baserunners. Milwaukee is an average offense this year, with a .319 combined wOBA while striking out 25.1% of the time against right-handed pitching. With his recent control issues, I'm leery of the upside here but for the price, I'm comfortable with Strasburg as a strong cash game option. Shane Bieber FD 8300 DK 8000 Opponent - TB (Blake Snell) Park - CLE FD - 38.51 DK - 20.28 A little bit further down the pricing scale, we find Shane Bieber of the Indians. The Tribe hosts the Rays tonight in Progressive Field. The Indians are slight favorites, with a -107 opening line, and just a 0.1 difference in implied run lines. Bieber has been a revelation for an already stacked Cleveland pitching staff, going 8-2 through his first...

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 8/25/18

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 8/25/18 We already highlighted Clayton Kershaw, Corey Kluber, and Robbie Ray in our Saturday 8-25-18 picks article. We also highlighted the Rockies against John Gant in Coors Field as a popular game stack. Here we will look at some other (possible GPP) considerations. Pitchers Andrew Suarez FD 7000 DK 6700 Opponent - TEX (Martin Perez) Park - SF FD - 31.1 DK - 15.61 I mentioned Rick Porcello as a consideration on the early slate in the picks article, and I still stand by that, particularly as a cash game play. For early slate GPP's I went back and forth on a handful of players before finally settling in on Andrew Suarez. There isn't an arm over $10K on the early slate on FanDuel, and guys like Porcello, Wheeler, and Pivetta are all enticing in their own way, but I'm going with Suarez for several reasons. First off, he's the top projection overall in the system today from a point per dollar perspective. He's also the cheapest of the bunch, so the upside comes implied. He sees a favorable matchup at home against the Rangers, who though they are slightly above average this year in combined wOBA against southpaws (.321), their 23.3 K% is the sixth most in the majors in the split. Suarez isn't a big strikeout type of guy and has certainly been known to implode at times on the bump, the ERA is approaching 5.00, but the 3.60 xFIP tells us we can attribute some of that to some bad luck BABIP trouble. In a game that sees San Francisco opening as strong -141 favorites, Suarez sitting around the $7K mark on both sites leaves the door open for just about any bats you want on the early set. I won't touch him in cash, but he's a terrific play in GPP's who could fly under the radar while providing big-time upside. Anibal Sanchez FD 8600 DK 8200 Opponent - MIA (Wei-Yin Chen) Park - MIA FD - 36.19 DK - 18.53 Anibal Sanchez is another guy who is coming in high in PPD projection while not commanding a ton of salary across the industry. I'd go so far as to suggest him as an alternate to Ray for the SP2 slot in DraftKings in both...

Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 8/25/18 It's the last Saturday in August! Pennant races are heating up, and for some teams, every game is becoming a must win. With just a handful of games this afternoon, we're going to focus this article mainly on the nine-game main slate. We've got some solid arms on the hill highlighted by Clayton Kershaw, and there's a game in Coors Field, so you know what that means. Let's get down to it, and take a look at tonight's top picks! Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! First time with MLB? Be sure to read our free MLB Ebooks on building lineups, general strategy and more. We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Clayton Kershaw FD 11600 DK 11800 Opponent - SD (Brett Kennedy) Park - LAD FD - 49.12 DK - 27.55 Clayton is back! While some time spent on the DL earlier this season has hindered his season stats, Clayton Kershaw is pitching his best stuff right now. He's pitched into the seventh inning in four of his last seven starts, while throwing nine straight quality starts, and he's throwing straight heat. Through his last 15 IP he's picked up 16 K's while walking just one batter. Kershaw is looking like his old self, while still coming at quite the discount on both sites, and today we get the luxury of finding him facing one of the saddest offenses in the game. The Padres have a sorry .292 team wOBA this season, and strike out at an astonishing 25.3% rate. With the Dodgers opening as -410(!!!) favorites, Kershaw should mow his way through the Padres order with little trouble and is a top play today in all formats. Corey Kluber FD 11200 DK 11000 Opponent - KC (Heath Fillmyer) Park - KC FD - 44.18 DK - 24.4 While that Dodgers line is one of the most ridiculous opening lines I've ever seen come out of Vegas, this line on the Indians game against the Royals isn't far off itself. Cleveland opens as -300 favorites against Kansas City who are almost as poor as the Padres as offenses go in 2018. The Royals have scored the fewest runs in the majors this season. They're bottom five in home runs, OPS, and wOBA. The one thing in their favor is they don't strike out a ton, just 20% of the time against RHP, which could limit the upside of Corey Kluber, who has lost nearly three batters on his K/9 over...

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 8/18/18 We already highlighted David Price, Rich Hill, and Zack Godley in our Saturday 8/18/18 picks article. We also highlighted the Nationals and Red Sox as a popular game stacks at their respective team price points. Here we will look at some other (possible GPP) considerations. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Madison Bumgarner FD 8900 DK 9000 Opponent - CIN (Matt Harvey) Park - CINFD - 34.89 DK - 18.55 I was so very close to putting Madison Bumgarner into the picks article. I actually got midway through his writeup, before deciding to back him out and go with Godley instead, mainly, because I like Bumgarner more as a GPP play, whereas Godley can be used in both cash and tournaments. So, I'm going to kick this piece off with Bumgarner instead. Since being activated off of the DL in early June, it's been a bumpy ride for MB, but he has shown some more consistency in his recent outings. In his last four appearances, he has three quality starts, has gone as deep as eight innings, picking up as many as seven strikeouts. Even without his best K stuff, Bum has managed to limit the damage wirth a 2.71 ERA, though the career high 4.35 xFIP is cause for some concern. The reason I'm limiting Bumgarner to tournaments is the matchup. The Giants travel into Great American Ballpark to face a Reds team top five in the majors against southpaws. They strikeout a modest 21.4% in the split, however, and the Giants come into this one as -148 favorites opposing Matt Harvey (more on that in a moment). We're looking at partly cloudy skies in Cincy tonight, with temps in the eighties. It should be a good night for pitching while Bumgarner looks to put together another quality start, and hopefully pick up a win as he continues his comeback. Mike Foltynewicz FD 9600 DK 11100 Opponent - COL (Antonio Senzatela) Park - ATLFD - 35.7 DK - 18.73 Well, I was all set to put Tommy Milone in this spot, had him all written up as a great value play, then as I was finishing out the rest of the article word came down that he was scratched tonight. He was my big-time value guy, coming cheap in a great matchup,...

Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 8/18/18 Welcome friends to another Saturday of daily fantasy major league action! We have an eleven game main slate going this evening, and that's where we'll focus the majority of our attention. So let's take a look at some of the top plays at each position. Pitcher David Price FD 10100 DK 9800 Opponent - TB (Tyler Glasnow) Park - BOSFD - 36.53 DK - 19.74 All of the studs are going in the afternoon, but that doesn't leave us completely stuck with our pitching on the main slate. We'll start things off with David Price, who as the most expensive arm at just around $10K on both sites, means we can still get some nice bats in our lineups as well. Price and the BoSox are hosting the Rays at home tonight in Fenway. Tampa has been slightly below average as offenses go this season, and though they've been better against southpaws, they also strikeout at a top five clip in the spread. Price has been up and down this season, and overall his numbers on paper are far from phenomenal, but he has been solid down the stretch, allowing just three earned runs through 26.1 IP in his last four starts without allowing a single ball to leave the park in that time. In his previous start against the Orioles, he fanned 10 of 23 batters faced. The Rays have one of the lower opening implied run totals of the night, making Price far and away the top option to consider tonight, and we can use him in all formats. Rich Hill FD 8800 DK 9300 Opponent - SEA (Erasmo Ramirez) Park - SEAFD - 32.9 DK - 17.69 After Price and the Red Sox, there aren't many overwhelming favorites going tonight, and the ones that are, I can't say fill me with confidence. So at a -130 opening line, I'm quite comfortable going with Rich Hill of the Dodgers traveling north to Seattle. He gets a nice bump in park factor, going from already favorable Dodger Stadium to Safeco Field, which year over year proves to be one of the top parks for pitchers in the game. That's great news for Hill, who has struggled at times this season, with his ERA and xFIP at their highest points...
