We've got you completely covered. Pitcher EARLY Carlos Martinez FD 10000 DK 12300 Opponent - PHI (Pivetta) Park - @STLFD - 37.43 DK - 24.6 We kick things off with an early afternoon game in St. Louis as the Cardinals continue their weekend series with the ever struggling Phillies. Carlos Martinez takes to the hill for the Cards and is in an excellent spot here. If we look to Martinez' game logs we see he has been the model of consistency this season. He fell apart late the last time out against the Reds after putting together 6 strong innings. His K rate is on the rise as his 9.98 K/9 sits nearly 1.25 higher than his career numbers, and his 3.39 xFIP is among the best in the bigs. Philadelphia meanwhile, despite showing some signs of life earlier this week down in Atlanta, are still the offense with a .305 wOBA, among the worst this season against right handed pitching while striking out 23.1% of the time against righties. I led off with Martinez here because for cash game purposes I love the safety he represents, however the system does feel you can do one better and save some salary in the process... Jeff Samardzija FD 9200 DK 10900 Opponent - MIN (Berrios) Park - @SFFD - 38.48 DK - 25.28 Which leads us to the Shark. If you want to save some salary to load up on bats in the early slate, (and we'll get to why you might want to do that shortly) then Jeff Samardzija might be the way to go. For significant savings, particularly on DraftKings, you get an arm who isn't as highly favored to win as Martinez may be, but who the system loves from a PPD perspective, and that comes down to the strikeouts. The Twins strike out nearly 23% of the time against right handers, and Samardzija is one of the best in the game with his 10.62 K/9 ranking among the top ten in baseball. Despite their propensity to swing and miss however, the Brewers .331 team wOBA against the split is ranked seventh in Baseball at this point in the season, so if Shark isn't hitting his spot he could fall in to trouble early. I wouldn't completely...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher EARLY Jon Lester FD 10300 DK 10600 Opponent - STL (Leake) Park - @CHCFD - 35.96 DK - 23.61 Jon Lester gets us started on the early slate hosting the Cardinals in Wrigley Field. The Cards, to their merit, strike out 20.8% of the time, which is right about league average, though that number does climb a bit to 22.2% against southpaws. The key factor here however lies in the wOBA. As a team, St. Louis is sporting a.285 team wOBA against lefties, and only 3 other teams in baseball are worse. Lester meanwhile is one of the better strikeout pitchers in the game, fanning just under 10 batters per nine with a 3.59 xFIP and a 3.86 ERA. He followed up a complete game 10 K, 1 run performance against the Giants on the 23rd by getting rocked by the Dodgers last time out, allowing 6 earned runs while not making it out of the fourth inning. Some may be scared off by that but I'm not. One outing does not make a season, and if we look at the game logs, we see Lester has been quite consistent through this point in the season, I'm ][more than willing to pull the trigger on this one. Carlos Carrasco FD 10200 DK 11700 Opponent - KC (Hammel) Park - @KCFD - 35.62 DK - 23.44 If, however, you are spooked by the 1 FanDuel point Lester managed to score in his last start, then allow me to make a strong case for Carlos Carrasco. Our system loves both of these guys equally, with them projected for similar totals, and excellent point per dollar returns. Carrasco will set you back a bit more on DraftKings where there is a bit more disparity pricing, but there's a mere $100 separating them on FD. The stat book tells a similar story on each as well, while Lester throws more K's, Carrasco sports a slightly better xFIP. Also, as bad as the Cardinals are against lefties, the Royals are equally as bad against Righties. KC has a .293 wOBA against right handed pitching, and there is only one team worse than that. They also K 21.3% of the time against right handers. Personally, I will probably split...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher EARLY Stephen Strasburg FD 11100 DK 12100 Opponent - SD (Richard) Park - @WSHFD - 42.58 DK - 27.99 On the early only slate, we have high priced, elite arms aplenty, but Stephen Strasburg stands above the crowd for raw projected point totals in our system and with good reason. First off, he's toeing the rubber today against one of the worst offenses in the major leagues in the San Diego Padres. The Padres come into the weekend with the third worst wOBA (.288) and the third worst wRC+ (78) in baseball, and they strike out nearly 24% of the time. Even the average arms in the league can pick up a big boost in production going against the Padres. So an arm like Strasburg, who was excellent his last time out against the Braves picking up 11 Ks in 7.2 innings, and is fanning 8.8 batters per 9 on the season while holding a 3.50 xFIP becomes a stellar play, excellent for cash and tournament lineups. Danny Salazar FD 9300 DK 10200 Opponent - KC (Vargas) Park - @CLEFD - 33.89 DK - 22.35 If you want to pivot off of Strasburg in tournaments then you should definitely look the way of Danny Salazar. Salazar has struggled some in his recent outings, allowing 5 earned runs in 2 of his last three appearances, and not making it out of the third inning in one of those. Today he faces the Royals whose strikeout percentage of 20.8 is right about league average, but Salazar's 13.21 K/9 is the best you'll find in baseball and that is where the appeal lies. The Royals have a collective .291 team wOBA with a 78 wRC+ against right handed pitching, only the Giants are worse at this point. I'm a little skeptical of Salazar in cash games due to his struggles through his three starts during the month of May, though not completely against it. If you think he can piece together his first quality start of the month he could pay off big time while allowing for some higher priced bats. Jerad Eickhoff FD 7200 DK 6400 Opponent - CIN (Arroyo) Park - @PHIFD - 28.88 DK - 19.21 Jerad Eickhoff is 0-5 through his first...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Jake Arrieta FD 9700 DK 9400 Opponent - MIL (Anderson) Park - @CHCFD - 37.25 DK - 24.43 It's not the best day we've seen for pitching but it's far from the worst, and most of the arms available won't kill your salary either. Sure you can pay all the way up for Scherzer in Atlanta, but the system thinks you can do just as well, while saving aout 2K in the process by going with Arrieta on the early slate. Arrieta has been knocked around a bit in his last few starts, but one of those games was in Coors, so that's bound to happen, and more recently the Cards took him for 4 runs in six innings in St Louis. Today he's getting some home cooking against the Brewers, and while the Brewers may have the best record in the NL central heading in to this weekend series, they're not exactly an offensive powerhouse. They come in to the series right in the middle of the majors in team wOBA (.315) with a 90 wRC+ which dip to .308 and 89 against right handed pitching. They also strike out more than any team in baseball at a whopping 25.5% clip. Ryan Braun isn't eligible to return to the lineup until Sunday at the earliest, so if Arrieta can just keep Thames in the ballpark, He shouldn't have much trouble with this righty heavy lineup. I can see a case for Scherzer in gpp if you want to go that route, but I love Arrieta in all formats for the value he brings to cash games, and the separation his recent outings may earn him in tournaments. Robbie Ray FD 9100 DK 8900 Opponent - SD (Perdomo) Park - @SDFD - 35.52 DK - 23.48 Robbie Ray takes the hill tonight in San Diego with a 2-3 record in 8 starts this season. This one is pretty cut and dry when you look into the stats. The Padres K more than any team in baseball besides the aforementioned Brewers at 25%, plus their .297 team wOBA and 85 wRC+ are second only to the Phillies for being the worst in the majors. They don't discriminate when it comes to the split either,...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Chris Sale FD 11800 DK 13100 Opponent - TB (Snell) Park - @BOSFD - 48.99 DK - 32.52 The Red Sox will send Chris Sale to the mound for today's game with the Rays. Perhaps you've heard of him? Sale has had an extremely successful start to the 2017 season, rocking the best SIERA in the majors through the first month and change (2.20) and his 12.72 K/9 is the second best behind Danny Salazar. The Rays meanwhile are about as averge at the plate as you'll find against left handed pitchers, with a .308 wOBA and a 97 wRC+, but when it comes to the money shot, we find they strike out a whopping 26.7% of the time against southpaws, more than any team in baseball. That right there, along with Boston being nearly a 2 run favorite for the win against Blake Snell tells us all we need to know. Sure, Sale is going to eat up a hefty amount of your salary on both sites, but the returns should more than make up for it as the projection system sees him as the raw points total leader on the day and among the top point per dollar plays. Luis Severino FD 9100 DK 9100 Opponent - HOU (Fiers) Park - @NYYFD - 31.85 DK - 21.01 So you say you just can't spend up for Sale at the starting pitcher spot? Then let me introduce you to Luis Severino. For less than 10K you get a right handed arm that has been excellent to start the season, striking out 10.21 batters per 9 while maintaining a 3.40 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 45/7 K/BB ratio through 39.2 innings. The match up isn't quite as favorable though as the Astros only strike out 18.3% of the time against right handed pitching and are rocking a .347 team wOBA against the split, the fourth best in the majors. For safety purposes I'll stick with Sale in cash games, but Severino will definitely get some tournament love with the potential upsdie, and allowance for some better bats. Trevor Cahill FD 8100 DK 9300 Opponent - CHW (Covey) Park - @CHWFD - 29.2 DK - 19.5 There's not a whole lot to be excited about...
