Pitcher Max Scherzer FD 12100 DK 12900 Opponent - CIN (Castillo) Park - @CIN FD - 16.12 DK - 10.51 While the teams returned to action yesterday giving us decent, but none too stellar starting pitching options, there are some decisions to be made today. We've got several potential Cy Young candidates on the mound beginning with the NL front runner, Max Scherzer. Mad Max begins his second half in Great American ballpark against the Reds, and while this might be a knock on most pitchers, for Scherzer it's just a minor blip on the radar. Scherzer has far too much going in his favor to let a small park deter us from locking him in. He's coming into the day with a 2.10 ERA, the lowest among all qualified pitchers, while also sporting a 0.78 WHIP and 35.5 K%. He's having no problem keeping the ball in the yard this season, his 0.91 HR/9 is among the top ten in baseball as is his 10.2 HR/FB%. The Reds for what it's worth strikeout only 20.8% of the time, which is just below average at this point in the season, but it's not every day they face an arm like Scherzer, capable of striking out 12.13 batters per nine. If you run multiple lineups and want to spread your starting pitching love around then have at it, that's what I'll probably do, but if you're only doing one lineup, you can't go wrong with Max. Corey Kluber FD 11400 DK 12200 Opponent - OAK (Blackburn) Park - @OAK FD - 42.55 DK - 28.1 Speaking of Cy Young candidates, if you were popping into DFSRland over the break you saw our staff picks for MVP, biggest bust, and Cy Young winner through the first half, and my top pitcher was the other CK. Corey Kluber has had an impressive start to the 2017 season, hindered only by some missed time back in May with a back issue. Here's a little snippet of my breakdown on Kluber from the Cy Young article. Kluber possesses the lowest xFIP among qualified starters at 2.65 and is right there with Sale and Scherzer trailing just behind them with a 33.5 K% and walking only 6.1% of the...

Pitcher EARLY Stephen Strasburg FD 10800 DK 12500 Opponent - ATL (Teheran) Park - @WSHFD - 37.18 DK - 24.58 The Nationals play host to the Braves once again in D.C. this afternoon. Washington is the only team in baseball that can lay claim to two arms that are not only among the top 15 qualified pitchers in xFIP as we approach the All Star break, but also rank among the top 10 in strikeouts per 9 innings pitched. First is Mad Max who threw last night, the other is our top choice for the early slate today, Stephen Strasburg. In addition to a 3.42 xFIP and 10.5 K/9 Stras is sporting a 3.28 ERA, walking just over 2.5/9 and allowing only .9 HR/9, not too shabby. Stras was rolling through offenses this season when he seemed to hit a bit of a speed bump early on in June, with a couple of less than stellar performances, but seems to have tuned a corner, putting up consecutive quality starts against the Cubs and Mets in his last two outings allowing 2 runs and striking out 19 in 14 innings of work. Once you get past the Nationals in the NL East, you have a bunch of teams just fighting for mediocrity. Currently leading that bunch are the Braves, who sport a .311 wOBA as a team against right handed pitching, among the worst in baseball. The Braves only strike out 19.6% of the time, but their impatience is spotlighted by their 7.3 BB% so as long as stras comes out firing he should have little trouble making them jumpy. I love Stras in cash games, and the fact that some may still be put off by the struggles a few starts back leads me think he could fly under the radar in tournaments as well. LATE Jeff Samardzija FD 9000 DK 9400 Opponent - MIA (Locke) Park - @SFFD - 36.06 DK - 23.83 On the late slate, we have some decisions to make as there is no stand out stud throwing. With the options given, the Shark comes in as the top raw projected point total play on the slate, and among the top point per dollar plays as well. Jeff Samardzija has...
Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 7/1/17
Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 7/1/17 June has come to an end, July is upon us, soon we'll be at the All Star break, and before you know it, the pennant races heat up. For now however we have a full day of major league action. While Draftkings has contests scheduled nearly every hour, FanDuel is running an early only slate with 2 "main" slates starting with the 4:00 and 7:00 eastern sets of games. The picks for today are broken down into early and late with early being the first 4 games on the day, and late being everything from 4PM on, with recommendations for both main slates. We've got some solid arms going early on, with plenty of bats in the later set but no good pitchers, so there's a lot to cover. Let's dive in. Pitcher EARLY Chris Sale FD 11600 DK 13500 Opponent - TOR (Liriano) Park - @TORFD - 42.52 DK - 28.06 Every five days or so this is where we start out and rightfully so. For every statistic that matters, particularly in MLB DFS, Chris Sale is absolutely dominating through the first half of the season. His 12.27 K/9 is not only tops in baseball, it is also 2 whole batters higher than his career average. His 2.62 xFIP is also the best around. He's limiting the baserunners, cutting out the free passes, allowing only 1.66 BB/9, and keeping the ball in the yard. Sure, he's going to eat a hefty chunk of your salary, but the return on investment you get with Sale can't be denied as he's about as safe an arm as you'll find in baseball. Through his last 5 starts Sale has struck out an average of 9 batters per game while allowing no more than three runs and lasting a minimum of 6 innings through each start. Today he faces the Blue Jays, who try as they might can't put their early season struggles behind them and still rank dead last in the AL East. Toronto strikes out only 20.6% of the time, but that of course is an average, and Chris Sale is anything but average. He's pretty much match up proof, and of course is an elite play today in all formats. Carlos Carrasco FD 9300...

We've got you completely covered. Pitcher EARLY Corey Kluber FD 10800 DK 12600 Opponent - MIN (Gibson) Park - @CLEFD - 41.98 DK - 27.74 In the afternoon slate, the system loves it some Corey Kluber, and it isn't even close. He comes in head and shoulders above the rest of the pack in the early slate in both points per dollar and raw point total projections. He's looking almost Kershawesque at not quite a Kershaw price tag. The comparisons don't exactly stop there either. Ten starts in to the season, and Kluber is striking out nearly 1.5 more batters per 9 than his career totals, which is also a full batter more than Clayton, while his bb/9 (2.34), BABIP (.303), and xFIP (.301) all hover close to Clayton's totals, which we'll touch on momentarily. Cleveland rocks, and they're fully expected to rock the Twins this afternoon as our friends in Vegas have them coming in with an early line of -234. Minnesota isn't terrible at baseball, they have a .323 team wOBA which is slightly above average, and rock a 98 wRC+ which is slightly below average, and strike out 22% of the time against right handers. When you consider all of the other names taking the hill in the afternoon set, paying up for Kluber is looking better and better. Love him for cash games, and while one of those cheaper guys could suprise in a GPP, I wouldn't completely fade away from Kluber there either. Consider: Marco Estrada in the Very early. MAIN Clayton Kershaw FD 12300 DK 12500 Opponent - COL (Chatwood) Park - @LADFD - 45.38 DK - 29.97 On the main slate, well, was there any real doubt? Particularly when you look at the pricing. Clayton's pricing across the industry is the second lowest it has been all season. Aside from two starts in Coors Field, on Fanduel he's only been at this price one other time and on DraftKings He's never been this low. Now, while he may not be the Clayton of old, and Sale and Scherzer have been arguably been having better seasons in regards to xFIP and K's per 9, he is still Clayton Kershaw and this is the express train to bargaintown. Through 15 starts we've constantly shouted...

Pitcher Early Stephen Strasburg FD 10900 DK 12200 Opponent - NYM (Lugo) Park - @NYMFD - 39.7 DK - 26.13 Welcome friends to another edition of Saturday MLB daily fantasy. We have a full day of baseball ahead of us with the majority of the action beginning in the 4PM eastern hour, and only 4 games in the main slate starting with game 2 of the Cleveland/Twins doubleheader an hour later than we're used to. We'll spend the majority of our focus on the early slate starting with Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals heading in to Citi Filed. If you're going to spend up on the early slate, you have a toss up between Strasburg and Archer, and for safety I'll run with Stras. He struggled Monday against Atlanta, and has been known to do so in muggy conditions, but it should be a more comfortable night in Flushing and Washington is a clear favorite against the struggling Metropolitans with an early -155 money line. The Mets don't strike out a ton, they're actually among the bottom ten teams for strikeout percentage, but Strasburg's 10.44 K/9 is among the top ten arms in baseball and he's had double digit K performances in 3 of his last 5 outings with 6 straight quality starts before his 6 run home run derby against the Braves. I'm looking for a nice bounce back to form for Strasburg today in a game he should easily dominate. Marcus Stroman FD 9300 DK 10100 Opponent - CHW (Pelfrey) Park - @TORFD - 34.28 DK - 22.51 Speaking of domination, while I mentioned Chris Archer in passing earlier, and I'm sure he'll get a nod from Austyn in the pitchers article, for cash games, if you want to pivot off of Strasurg, and save some salary for the big bats, then I can't overlook Marcus Stroman. He takes to the hill against the White Sox today in Rogers Centre with Chicago sending Mike Pelfrey to the hill. Toronto is a -230 favorite in this one, about as sure a thing as you'll find and with good reason. The White Sox .302 wOBA against right handed pitching is the third worst in baseball, and they strikeout 22.8% of the time which is...
