Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 5/12/18 Welcome friends to DFSR's Saturday in the majors. We've got a game in Coors, Homer Bailey (who lives up to his name), and hooray, hooray, it's James Shields day! Plus Strasburg in the desert, Thor in south Philly, and more. With so much to break down, what are we still doing here? Let's get into the trenches and check out today's top picks! Pitcher EARLY Stephen Strasburg FD 10000 DK 13900 Opponent - ARI (Undecided) Park - ARI FD - 41.54 DK - 22.81 It's one of the safest bets in town that every five days or so we will open the article with Stephen Strasburg. The man has been solid to start the season, continuing from where he left off last year with his K/9, BB/9, and xFIP all hovering around the same point where they ended in 2017. Sure, on a couple of occasions he's been rattled, this same Diamondbacks team took him for five earned runs at the end of April, and traveling from D.C. to the dessert does him no favors regarding park factor. But Arizona, as a team, possesses the sixth lowest wOBA in the majors against RHP while striking out the sixth most. Even at home, they're sporting just a .301 wOBA and have only hit 16 home runs in the cozy confines of Chase Field. Stras is without question the top option on the early slate. Our MLB projection system has him leading all starting pitchers today in raw points, and among the top of the heap in points per dollar. Consider Strasburg with confidence in all formats. Chris Archer FD 8800 DK 9400 Opponent - BAL (Undecided) Park - BAL FD - 32.15 DK - 17.47 If you don't want to pay up for Stras, or need a strong SP2 option to pair along with him, then look to Chris Archer against a struggling Orioles' lineup. Since getting lit up by the Phillies in mid-April, Archer has put together four straight strong efforts, going 5+ innings in each, while striking out 5+ batters, and putting together three quality starts allowing two runs or less. Despite the ERA still sitting over 5, the xFIP is down to a modest 3.58, and the K/9 is just below 10.0. He may be able to tip...

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 5/5/18

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 5/5/18 We already highlighted Kenta Maeda, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Jameson Taillon in our Saturday picks article. We also highlighted the Dodgers as a popular game stack at their respective team price points. Here we will look at some other (possible GPP) considerations. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! First time with MLB? Be sure to read our free MLB Ebooks on building lineups, general strategy and more. We've got you completely covered. Pitchers Trevor Bauer FD 9500 DK 10700 Opponent - NYY (Sonny Gray) Park - NYY FD - 29.15 DK - 15.14 If you like living dangerously, on the early slate, you can lock in Trevor Bauer against the Yankees. Targeting the Yanks can be daily fantasy suicide, with the likes of Stanton, Sanchez, Judge, and Gardner, hitting against you but with great risk, comes the potential for great reward. The Bombers are favorites to win this afternoons game, but the opening line is NY -125/CLE +115, so Cleveland has a chance. Bauer comes into the game with a 2.45 ERA, 3.85 xFIP, and his 10.26 K/9 is ranked in the top 20 among qualified pitchers. The Yankees have the third best team wOBA in the majors (.339) but they also K at a top ten 24.3% clip. The Yankees will counter Bauer with Sonny Gray, who has struggled against the Red Sox, and Blue Jays, two of the better offenses in the game, Cleveland sits with a .324 team wOBA, and their 31 HR is just one shy of the 32 the Yanks have hit. I have plenty of faith in the tribe to put up runs on Gray, the question we have to ask is, do we feel confident in Bauer limiting the damage against the Yanks while racking up the K's? In large tournaments, that's a risk I'm more than willing to take. Trevor Cahill FD 7100 DK 8000 Opponent - BAL (Kevin Gausman) Park - OAK FD - 32.28 DK - 16.15 On the main slate, if you want to get away from the guys we covered in the picks article, you can turn to Trevor Cahill against the Orioles. Baltimore has been flat out abysmal to start the season, and though they got a key piece of their offense back in the form of Mark Trumbo, he's yet to make any serious impact. Baltimore sits with a collective team wOBA of .280, while only the Marlins are posting worse. They also strike out...

Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 5/5/18 It's Cinco de Mayo, a big day if you're a fan of silly memes featuring wash basins full of condiments, or of imbibing in copious amounts of tequila. I'll take the latter. It's also Saturday in the major leagues, and we have a ten game main slate with five in the afternoon. We'll focus primarily on the night set while giving you some plays to consider in the early slate as well. Let's get to it. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitcher Kenta Maeda FD 8600 DK 11400 Opponent - SD (Bryan Mitchell) Park - SD FD - 34.99 DK - 18.77 Pitching today is bereft of any real aces on the main slate. The two best options are Greinke and Morton, who as fate would have it go head to head in the desert tonight. So, picking through what's left we still have a handful of solid options to consider, and bonus, none of them are break-the-bank kind of guys so we can go a little crazier with our bats tonight. We'll kick things off with the Dodgers, who will celebrate Cinco de Mayo by joining the Padres for their "home" series in Mexico. They are -202 favorites and sending Kenta Maeda to the mound. Looking at the game logs, Maeda may scare some folks off, but a deeper look at the numbers reveals some of his early-season struggles have just come down to bad luck. He had a stellar start to the season, fanning ten in five shutout innings against the Giants. His next start was nearly two weeks later, and he was pulled in the third after five runs crossed the plate (just two earned). In his three most recent outings, he's sandwiched two games where he surrendered four runs apiece around a one run, seven K gem against the Marlins. Despite being one of the teams to hit up Maeda for four runs, the Padres offense is still quite terrible, and they did whiff ten times in that game. San Diego has a bottom five team wOBA of .295, and their lefty-heavy lineup strikeout a whopping 27.4% of the time against RHP. On the surface, Maeda may seem a bit risky, but he is easily one of the safest pitchers on the slate and a fantastic play in all formats given...

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings – 4/28/18

Daily Fantasy MLB Pitchers and Stacks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/28/18 We already highlighted David Price, Carlos Carrasco, and Lance McCullers Jr. in our Saturday picks article. We also highlighted the Indians as a popular game stack at their respective team price points. Here we will look at some other (possible GPP) considerations. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Patrick Corbin FD 10000 DK 11500 Opponent - WSH (Jeremy Hellickson) Park - WSH FD - 33.21 DK - 17.06 I love days when we have so many strong pitching options and don't have to consider sacrificing too much at the plate to make them work. At $10K Patrick Corbin is the most expensive arm going on FanDuel today, while on DraftKings, there are a handful of options over the $10K mark, a few more expensive than Corbin. When you look at the numbers, it's hard to understand how Corbin can be so dang cheap. Through his first five starts, Corbin leads the majors with a 1.72 xFIP, while only his teammate Robbie Ray, and Max Scherzer of the opposing Nationals are striking out more per nine than Corbin's 12.96. Scherzer will not be opposing Corbin and the DBacks today either. No, my friend, Washington will counter with Jeremy Hellickson who is terrible. We'll touch more on that in a moment, but know that even against a strong Washington lineup, Corbin is a -136 favorite to win while Vegas projects the Nationals to be one of the lower scoring offenses of the day. While Washington is one of the better teams regarding strikeout percentage, they do fall victim to southpaws a little more easily, whiffing 24.7% of the time. The guys in the picks article are much safer, but based on how he's looked through his first five starts, Corbin has as much upside today as anybody, and won't break the bank while doing so. Jaime Garcia FD 6300 DK 6500 Opponent - TEX (Bartolo Colon) Park - TOR FD - 29.54 DK - 14.57 As I just noted, most of the arms we've given you for today are on the pricey side, and while I think you can pair two top arms on DraftKings and get away with it, I want to throw a little value your way, so I present to you, Jaime Garcia. Garcia takes a 2-1 record into his fifth start...

Daily Fantasy MLB Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/28/18 Welcome DFSR nation to another edition of Saturday MLB picks. As we work through the final weekend of April, we have plenty to consider. The day is split pretty evenly between early and main slate games, with FanDuel breaking the early games into two smaller slates, and if you want exposure to Philly/Atlanta, you'll have to do the all-day slate or the new showdown option on DraftKings. There's a couple of doubleheaders, some weak arms to target and while we have no real studs on the hill, there are still plenty of good arms to consider. Let's get down to the nitty gritty and check out the top picks, shall we? Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our MLB optimizer and our new player lab! We've got you completely covered. Pitcher Carlos Carrasco FD 9600 DK 12400 Opponent - SEA (Mike Leake) Park - CLE FD - 38.16 DK - 20.58 We'll open things up today with Carlos Carrasco and the Indians hosting the Mariners. Carrasco is 4-0 through his first five starts of the season and would have that fifth win if not for lack of run support in a seven shutout inning performance against the Twins. After a rough opening against these same Mariners in Seattle when he got knocked for five earned runs in just 5.2 IP Carlos has settled into a nice groove, and currently sports one of the top xFIPs among starting pitchers through the first month of the season (3.55). While he's not throwing K's the same way he did last season (10.17 K/9 in 2017 compared to 7.20 to open this season), the number of K's is on the rise as he managed seven in each of his last two outings. The Mariners don't exactly strike out a ton either, which limits the appeal for Carrasco in tournaments. As a cash play, however, with the tribe as -224 favorites Carrasco is one of the safest plays of the day. David Price FD 8000 DK 11100 Opponent - TB (Yonny Chirinos) Park - BOS FD - 35.16 DK - 18.74 Another huge favorite in the eyes of Vegas is the Boston Red Sox at home against the Rays. Boston opens up as -208 favorites and David Price sees a favorable matchup. Despite the 2.93 ERA, the 4.44 xFIP tells a deeper story on Price through the first five starts of the season. Price...
