To some degree that was on display against the Patriots on Sunday with the Bills needing to win to secure their seeding. Allen went for 254 yards and three touchdowns on 31 attempts. It hasn’t been great over the second half of the season, but if the rushing attempts are going to stay in the 8-9 range then he has as high a floor (and ceiling) as anyone out there. Daniel Jones FD 7400 DK 5600 Opponent MINProj Points FD - 21.51 DK - 21.51 The Giants are only +3 dogs going into Minnesota for this Wild Card game and Daniel Jones is a big reason why. He’s been among the surprise fantasy upside quarterbacks this season, combining just enough in the passing attack (to total dustball WRs) with the ability to get out and run when necessary. Two weeks ago against these same Vikings, Jones threw for 334 yards and a touchdown. Plus, over the course of the season, he’s averaged 44 yards per game on the ground. The latter could really be there this week in a great game environment and the Giants playing for their lives. At his pricing, I suspect he sees heavy ownership, especially on DraftKings. Running Backs Saquon Barkley FD 8800 DK 7900 Opponent MINProj Points FD - 19.08 DK - 21.36 On DraftKings, Saquon Barkley makes for a tough fade here seeing as how he’s somewhat game-script independent because of how the Giants use him in the offense. The blowout to Philly in Week 13 was the only game in which he saw fewer than 16 touches and he averaged 23.2 (carries + targets) over the course of the season. The efficiency hasn’t been all the way there for Harden with Embiid out of the lineup, shooting just 39% from the field over his last four games, but the usage is solid and even if Embiid is back I don’t think the latter runs a ton of minutes. From a floor perspective, at these prices, Harden still makes for a good cash game option at these prices. Tyler Herro FD - $7800 DK - $8400Opponent - OKCProj Pts FD - 39.24 DK - 43.19 Kyle Lowry has already been ruled out of this game which means it’s likely that Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler take over ball-handling duties even more in this offense. With Lowry off the court this season, Herro sees a moderate usage bump, up to 27.4%, the highest on the team. And the assist percentage climbs as well. He’s a solid deal on FanDuel especially if the minutes are going to tick up and he’s facing off against a Thunder team running the second-fastest pace in the league. Plus, there’s a chance Bam Adebayo misses this game too. Keep an eye on this situation. He’s coming off an overtime win against the Pacers on Wednesday that saw him put up 26 points, eight assists, and six rebounds, a line that would seem on the lower end of his expectation with Embiid out of the lineup. Along those lines, Tyrese Maxey (FD 7100 DK 7000) looks like he is back to full minutes now and is coming at a reasonable price on DraftKings. Buddy Hield FD - $6700 DK - $6200Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 33.28 DK - 37.1 Andrew Nembhard FD - $4300 DK - $3900Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 22.91 DK - 24.22 If looking for mid-tier or lower plays, there could be coming in this game between the Pacers and the Blazers. Both Hield and Nembhard are coming off playing 40+ minutes in an overtime game against the Sixers and Hield was particularly effective. He went for 22 points, nine rebounds, and six assists with his 22 shots, a team-high. The DraftKings price combined with extra points for the threes on that site make him an appealing option. Meanwhile, Nembhard could be more of a price play option if punts don’t open up as we get closer to lock. The minutes should be in the 30s for the rookie though admittedly the fantasy production is a bit hit or miss. That being said, he’s coming on the lower end of the pricing scale and the sites have gotten significantly more efficient with salaries of late. Hurts is going to return after a multi-week absence to play against the Giants. Hurts has about as high a floor as it gets in this offense and the Eagles are huge, -14 favorites going into this game. The price is on the high side of course, but this is a guy who ranks third overall in DraftKings scoring on the season despite playing two fewer games than the guys above him (Mahomes and Allen). For Saturday’s main slate, Hurts is basically as safe as it gets assuming he’s fully healthy now. Geno Smith FD 7300 DK 6000 Opponent LARProj Points FD - 20.09 DK - 20.09 The Seahawks are another team that will have to give a full effort in Week 18. They play in the 4PM hour and if they win and the Packers lose then Seattle is in the playoffs as the 7th seed. With Green Bay not playing until the evening, Seattle will have to do work against the Rams and then just wait. That puts Smith in a good spot from a fantasy perspective and is coming cheaper on DraftKings where he’s just QB9 in pricing. The yards haven’t been there in recent weeks for Smith, but I still think we can play him here against the Rams who rank 24th in defensive DVOA against the pass this season. The Jazz are without Colin Sexton in this one, making them a bit thinner in the backcourt and both the starters should see minutes in the low-to-mid 30s as long as the game stays close. Clarkson has scored 20+ points in seven consecutive games and is getting up about 17 shots per game over the last month. He has to score in order to hit value though the assists will come from time to time. Meanwhile, Conley’s usage can come and go depending on the game, though the assists haven't been there consistently. This should be a faster game though with the Kings running the 4th fastest pace with the 24th-ranked defensive efficiency. De'Aaron Fox FD - $8800 DK - $9000Opponent - UTAProj Pts FD - 44.51 DK - 47.61 Again, this is the game to target, and trying to fit pieces from the Kings and Jazz on the shorter Tuesday slate is going to be the way to go. Fox is a bit cheaper on FanDuel and we could be playing mix and match depending on the different sites and the different pricing. Fox isn’t the most consistent guy in the world on a game-to-game basis, something of a byproduct of the way the Kings run their offense. But it’s also what has kept his price in the $8K range. He still has double-double potential and the Jazz have the 26th-ranked defensive efficiency on the season.
