While we might be more incentivized to play Damian Lillard when Giannis is out, there is still merit to playing both here. Dame is coming off 27 points and 12 assists in the full-strength game against the Mavericks on Saturday. If Washington can keep it close (big IF), then Lillard is still a deal here. James Harden FD - $7200 DK - $7800Opponent - SAProj Pts FD - 38.13 DK - 41.56 The Clippers made a starting lineup change last game, moving Russell Westbrook to the sixth man role. It seemed to pay dividends with LA finally getting a win in the James Harden era and the latter put up solid numbers. He finished with 29 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists when it was all said and done. Now he’ll face the Spurs who are playing the second-worst defense in the league and the Clips come in with one of the highest totals. Harden isn’t priced correctly on either site, but is an especially good deal on FanDuel. De'Aaron Fox FD - $9900 DK - $9300Opponent - NOProj Pts FD - 49.09 DK - 52.33 Almost no matter what, we are going to be paying up for some guards on this slate with the way things are currently shaking out. De'Aaron Fox has been out of his mind this season, and over his last four games is averaging 32 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds while running major minutes. The price on DraftKings hasn’t really caught up to the production which is running a bit on the hot side, but not a ton. If it’s close, Brunson is a candidate to run major minutes, playing 39+ in each of the last two games, taking an average of 20 shots in that span. The price on both sites is totally reasonable and he should be at the core of cash game builds. De'Aaron Fox FD - $9300 DK - $9000Opponent - SAProj Pts FD - 46.17 DK - 48.49M Along with the Knicks, the other team to think strongly about stacking here is the Kings who get to face off against the Spurs. San Antonio has the second-worst defensive efficiency in the NBA, giving up huge point totals seemingly every single night. They also get blown out a ton, so there’s risk here with the Sac guys. Fox hasn’t had any minutes restrictions since coming back from injury and has dropped 28 points in each of the last two games. Pray this one stays close and light the Beam with the Kings in cash. Quarterbacks Sam Howell FD 7700 DK 6300 Opponent NYGProj Points FD - 19.64 DK - 19.64 The top QBs, in terms of overall scoring, aren’t on this slate and CJ Stroud who’s been amazing has really shot up in price. It leaves us in an interesting spot at the position for this week. I think we can turn to Sam Howell who is in a great spot at home against the Giants. Big Blue stinks, just got lit up by Dak Prescott and has basically called it on the season. Meanwhile, Washington is still (somehow) kind of in the NFC playoff hunt and could use a layup win here. Howell has attempted 42 or more passes in each of the last four weeks and has averaged a few rushes as well. His price doesn’t break the bank on either site and I think we can stack him with a Commanders’ running back as well for cash. Trevor Lawrence FD 7000 DK 6000 Opponent TENProj Points FD - 18.52 DK - 18.52 This one is going to take a little stomach to manage, but there’s definitely a case to be made for Trevor Lawrence in cash. He’s had a bad run of late, running up against the Saints, Steelers, and 49ers in the last three weeks. But now he’ll face a below-average Tennessee Titans secondary who rank well below average against the pass. The Titans are something of a funnel defense and this is a get-right spot for Lawrence who shouldn’t be as bad as he’s been in recent weeks. Plus, we are getting him on a price drop as well. Kyler Murray FD 7600 DK 6100 Opponent HOUProj Points FD - 19.01 DK - 19.01 Kyler Murray’s return paid dividends even if the efficiency wasn’t amazing. He attempted 32 passes, completing 19 and going for 249 yards. Plus he scrambled six times for 33 yards and a touchdown. This week he’s up against the Texans who’ve had no problem getting into shootouts this season. Opponents play at an above-average pace and the conditions here line up well for cash. Kyler hasn’t been totally price-corrected for what we can expect from him going forward, and not throwing any TDs last week kept the salaries relatively in check. That’s one of the higher numbers you will see and makes him a pretty easy play here. The price has come down a bit in the short-term which makes it even easier and I suspect he will be one of the highest-owned players on the slate. While Chicago might be in blow-it-up mode coming sooner than later, we can still play some of their guys in the short-term when the getting is good. For starters, Zach Lavine sees an obvious bump in production with DDR off the court, leading the team with a 30% usage in these situations so far this season. He’s scoring dependent for sure, but the price on both sites is totally reasonable considering the context. Meanwhile, Coby White sees the usage climb to 26.8% and the assist rate bumps up as well. I think his minutes are ultra-safe right now considering the Bulls are playing without DDR and will likely be without Alex Caruso as well. For White, these are the kind of situations we are waiting for when it comes to cash games. Tyrese Maxey is, of course, coming off the 50-point game on Sunday, but has been balling out in general this season with the backcourt now full in his hands after the James Harden trade. He’s expensive on FanDuel, but the sub-$9K price on DraftKings works well with making lineups. Kyrie Irving FD - $8600 DK - $8700Opponent - NOProj Pts FD - 47.06 DK - 50.2 We typically want to play Kyrie Irving when Luka Doncic is out of the mix, but the former has been running so well that this is still a cash game spot for him. He’s taken 19 or more shots in each of the last four games, averaging 26 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists in that stretch. It gets the job done at his price points and New Orleans is a bottom-10 defense on the season. Jordan Clarkson FD - $6900 DK - $6500Opponent - PORProj Pts FD - 34.04 DK - 37.56 The Jazz flipped around their starting lineup a bit a couple of games ago, moving Keyonte George and Ochai Agbaji into the group after Walker Kessler got hurt and THT went to the bench. It’s meant some more minutes and more shots for Jordan Clarkson in the short-term and that could continue here. He gets a decent matchup against the Blazers who have played surprisingly well on defense, but still aren’t a force to be reckoned with or anything like that. This game has a 229 over/under, the fifth highest of the slate and there is still some value on Clarkson’s number.
