NFL Best Ball Strategy for DraftKings – 2021 Season

Posted by on Jul 31, 2021 in featured, Football Strategy, Other Daily Fantasy Sports |

NFL Best Ball Strategy for DraftKings - 2021 Season Welcome back football fans. It feels like ages ago we were betting on Super Bowl props and watching Tom Brady add to his legendary career. For the first time in years, I have actually found time to start my NFL research in July. I have also made a huge shift in what kind of fantasy football I am playing in 2021. I used to play 15+ season long leagues on Yahoo but with my full-time career doing DFS content that has dramatically fallen off. Over the last couple of years specifically, I have transitioned most of my Yahoo bankroll allocation to Best Ball leagues. They are a perfect fit for people who play DFS each and every week on DraftKings, FanDuel, PrizePicks, and others. You draft your team of players pre-season and that's it. No in-season roster moves or start/sit decision or remembering to set said lineup(this happened alot with how busy DFS Sunday am is). I will be playing almost exclusively on DraftKings so all of my references will refer to that throughout the article. Let's start by looking at the draft, your roster requirements, scoring, and then get into some strategy. Now’s your chance to get DFSR PRO, which will give you access to our NFL and MLB optimizers and our new player lab! Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Draft Types You have two choices when first getting started. You can sign up for a Slow Draft(8 hour time limit to pick) or Fast Draft(30 seconds per pick). While I have exposure to both formats, I much prefer the Slow Draft as it gives me more time to analyze everything and make a more informed decision with each pick, which is crucial in best-ball format as you don't get any transactions throughout the season. Contest Types There are also two types of contests you can enter on DraftKings, as well. Sit & Go's These contests run the entire NFL regular season(Week 1-17) and leagues are made up of anywhere from 3-12 teams. Tournaments These are larger prize pool contests that consist of multiple 12-team leagues and are split up into four rounds: → Round 1(Week 1-14) - you play within your 12-team league and the Top 2 teams move on to Round → Round 2(Week 15) - You are randomly placed against another advancing team(they will avoid putting you up against yourself if you have multiple teams advance). Win and move on! → Round 3(Week 16) - You are randomly placed against another advancing team(they will avoid putting you up against yourself if you have multiple teams advance). Win...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Friday 7/30/21

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Corbin Burnes FD - P 11200 DK - RP 10200 Opponent - ATL (Touki Toussaint) Park - ATL FD - 37.75 DK - 20.86 It is very close for me at the top tonight so I will lean on the projections which favor Burnes and by a fairly wide margin. While both have been extremely consistent all season, Burnes gives us so much more in terms of strikeouts with almost a 10% higher K rate and 4% higher swinging strike rate. The Braves are just league average(100 wRC+) against righties but they strike out 25% of time. All things considered, Burnes is my #1 pitcher in all formats. José Berríos FD - P 9000 DK - SP 8100 Opponent - STL (Wade LeBlanc) Park - STL FD - 33.96 DK - 18.42 Once again we have options at SP2 on DraftKings. You can fairly easily pair Lynn and Burnes with all the value on this full slate but if you want more room for bats, I like this spot for Berrios who has seen his price trend back down into the low $8K range. This gives him a high floor and ceiling as he has hit 2x value on DraftKings in eight of his last 10 starts and hit 3x or more in four of those. The matchup isn't at the top of my list but the Cards have been slightly worse against righties(.299 wOBA/88 wRC+) so all things considered, Berrios is my favorite mid-tier value tonight. Catcher/First Base Joey Votto FD 4200 DK 4700 Opponent - NYM (Carlos Carrasco) Park - NYM FD - 9.21 DK - 6.91 This one fits right into the "ride the hot hand" narrative as Votto has been out of this world since the All-Star break. He has now homered in six straight games and has nine in 13 since the break to go along with a .375 average. His price on FanDuel shot up to the point where we really have to contemplate using him in cash button DraftKings, he is still under $5K and will be a core play for me in all formats. Rowdy Tellez FD 2300 DK 2600 Opponent - ATL (Touki Toussaint) Park - ATL FD - 10.36 DK - 7.8 While not quite on the same level as Votto, Rowdy also comes in red-hot with hits in six straight games including four long balls, and has been a...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Thursday 7/29/21 – Main Slate

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Freddy Peralta FD - P 9700 DK - SP 10000 Opponent - PIT (Chad Kuhl) Park - PIT FD - 38.87 DK - 22.08 He was limited in his last start due to a prolonged break between starts but is expected back to full go on Thursday and is in a great spot. He has been extremely consistent all season holding opponents to two or fewer earned runs in 16 of 18 starts for an elite 2.29 ERA and added a ton of upside with a 35% K rate. He now faces a Pirates team that is dead last in runs scored, 27th in wOBA, and 28th in wRC+ on the season. Unless more news comes out about a limit, Peralta is my top pitcher on this main slate on both sites. Joe Musgrove FD - P 8400 DK - SP 8200 Opponent - COL (Kyle Freeland) Park - SD FD - 35.86 DK - 19.44 After a shaky first start out of the ASB, Musgrove bounced back with his longest outing(6 IP) in a month and despite the low strikeout count(4) was still able to give us more than 2x and 4x returns on DraftKings and FanDuel. It has been a roller coaster ride and there are some red flags but I do like the price on this small slate given the matchup vs. the Rockies who are dead last in road offense by a wide margin. I will have exposure in all formats. Catcher/First Base Rowdy Tellez FD 2200 DK 2600 Opponent - PIT (Chad Kuhl) Park - PIT FD - 10.72 DK - 8.06 First base is a bit of a mess tonight with Vladdy in a potential rain game in Boston and my other favorite in Jonathan Schoop is likely out with back tightness after being scratched last night. As of now, I will be going the value route and riding the hot hand in Rowdy Tellez who has hits in five straight including three multi-hit efforts and three home runs. The savings makes this a great option if you are paying up for pitching like me. If you have the salary also consider: Vladimir Guerrero Jr.(TOR) if the rain goes away and the game is a full-go or Shohei Ohtani(LAA) who has heated back up with hits in five straight including three multi-hit efforts Second Base Kolten Wong FD - 2B 3000...

After an extra year of waiting, the Olympics are back and with it the second running of the golf event. It was Justin Rose capturing the Gold Medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 with Henrik Stenson and Matt Kuchar taking home the Silver and Bronze medals respectively. Neither of those players made the trip this time around but we once again have a strong 60-player field led by OPEN Champion, Collin Morikawa. The event will run like any no-cut event where all players in the field get four rounds to showcase their skills with the three lowest scores reaching the podium for the medal ceremony on Sunday afternoon(Saturday evening on North America). The event will be hosted at the East Course at the Kasumigaseki Country Club which is a Par 71 listed at 7,466 yards on the scorecard. It is a beautiful tree-lined course that should challenge the field with doglegs going both ways and a ton of deep bunkers scattered in key landing areas and all around the greens. The good news for golfers, is that the fairways look wider than the average PGA Tour course and with it's length, should cater a bit to the bombers in the field. From there, the golfers will have mid to long iron approaches into some very large, undulated greens. With that, I will factor in Proximity when breaking down Strokes Gained: Approach and then also factoring some three-putt avoidance. For lineup construction, keep in mind that no-cut events everyone gets four rounds. In the value ranges, this means looking for players who can make birdies in bunches rather than the usual "safe"-ish play that we are happy to get a made cut from on normal weeks. With a smaller field the ownership levels will rise as well for the top guys and...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Monday 7/26/21

Get started for free by clicking the button below. START YOUR FREE TRIAL NOW! Pitchers Shohei Ohtani FD - P 11000 DK - SP 9200 Opponent - COL (German Márquez) Park - LAA FD - 38.55 DK - 20.5 While his bat has been a bit cold(.214 average) since the break, he came out firing in his first start going six inning against the A's allowing just three hits on and no runs while striking out eight. He also comes in having held opponents to two or fewer earned runs in nine of his last 11 starts and has lowered his ERA to 3.21 on the season backed up by a nice 3.58 xFIP, as well. He now gets a terrific matchup against the Rockies who are the worst road team in the league with an ugly .262 wOBA and .106 ISO. The $11K price tag on FanDuel is a bit much in cash but on DraftKings, he is easily my top pitcher in all formats. Wade Miley FD - P 9600 DK - SP 8600 Opponent - CHC (Kyle Hendricks) Park - CHC FD - 30.64 DK - 16.46 For the second pitcher on DraftKings, it will really come down to how much value pops up when lineups come out. If the value is limited, I will be turning Wade Miley who is having an excellent season in Cincy with a 2.72 ERA/3.74 xFIP. While the K upside is somewhat limited(19.8%), he provides a very solid floor going deep into games(6+ IP in 7 straight) and he has also limited opponents to two or fewer earned runs in 14 of 17 starts. He gets a bit of a boost to the K's as the Cubs strike out 25% of the time vs. lefties and 26% of the time overall and have also been about 15% below average in terms of creating runs out of the ASB. All things considered, I love the safety he provides, and he is an excellent SP2 option on DraftKings. Also Consider: Luis Garcia(HOU) on FanDuel at $1K discount from Ohtani and he also makes a nice pairing with Ohtani on DraftKings keeping you under $20K for pitchers Catcher/First Base José Abreu FD - 1B 3700 DK - 1B 5200 Opponent - KC (Mike Minor) Park - KC FD - 12.21 DK - 9.23 If you are paying up at first there are two options for me, in cash games, I lean Abreu over Vladdy because of the massive price...
