Pitchers Shane McClanahan FD 10100 DK 10100 Opponent - BOS (Eduardo Rodriguez) Park - BOS FD - 39.66 DK - 21.73 We get a very small slate tonight so the drop in price for McClanahan is minor considering the tougher matchup vs. the Red Sox. The good news is that Rays went into Wednesday's game winners of nine straight overall and nine of their last 10 vs. the Red Sox. For McClanahan, he has been very good in his rookie season and even better in the second half posting a 2.90 ERA/3.26 xFIP while striking out 27% of batters and has picked wins in five straight starts. He is my top pitcher on this slate in all formats. Carlos Carrasco FD 6800 DK 8000 Opponent - MIA (Zach Thompson) Park - MIA FD - 34.95 DK - 19.35 It was a long road back after a spring training injury but not many have been better facing adversity than Carrasco. The Mets eased him back into action upon his return at the end of July and the good news is that he is coming off his best start of the season(7 IP, 3 hits, 2 ER, 5 K, 0 BB) and it came against the top team in baseball. If he is finally stretched out to 85+ pitchers, he is a steal at these prices against a Marlins team that ranks bottom five in almost all categories in the second half. Catcher/First Base Freddie Freeman FD 4000 DK 5900 Opponent - COL (Chi Chi González) Park - COL FD - 17.72 DK - 13.26 With a smaller slate and the game in Coors Field, we are going to want to jam as many Braves bats in our lineups as possible tonight. The good news is that there is lots of value on their team which will help us get to Freeman. He may not be having another MVP season but has still been very good with a .293/.388/.503 slash line and sits third in baseball with 95 runs scored. Also making it him a priority is the fact the position is pretty dry after him. He is in play in all formats. Austin Hedges FD 2300 DK 2200 Opponent - KC (Mike Minor) Park - KC FD - 6.67 DK - 5.03 On DraftKings, I am almost always looking for value or to straight punt the position in cash...

I was proven wrong as we were treated to another outstanding finish with Patrick Cantlay finishing off Bryson DeChambeau after six playoff holes. The win also earned him the #1 seed and with the new format introduced in 2019, that means he will start the TOUR Championship at -10, a two-stroke lead over the #2 seed. The course is a Donald Ross-designed par 70 listed at 7,346 yards on the scorecard. The fairways are narrow and tough to hit and it has shown as the field has averaged just 55% driving accuracy over the last five years. The rough is not very penal at just 2.5 inches on average so you can definitely afford to miss some fairways which also puts a lot of importance on a sharp iron game. Taking that further, I will also be looking at the long-iron proximity ranges(175-200 & 200+ yards) as all four Par 3's are 197 yards or longer, and five of the 11 Par 4's are 450 yards or longer. Outside of a strong tee-to-green game coming, I am also looking for players who have been performing on Par 4's as that has been the highest correlation I could find of any stat over the last two years. The Course East Lake Golf Club Par 70 - 7,346 Yards Greens - Bermuda **Click the image above to see a hole by hole breakdown from PGATour.com** For this week, I will be looking at my overall Top 4 plays in my player pool. Let's get started. Top Targets Jon Rahm FedEx Cup Rank (#4) Vegas Odds (4/1) Draftkings ($13,000) FanDuel ($13,000) He comes in at #1 in both my long-term(my sheet) and short-term(FNGC) models and is my pick...

Pitchers Robbie Ray FD 10900 DK 9700 Opponent - BAL (Chris Ellis) Park - BAL FD - 44.26 DK - 23.57 We have two of the top three in the NL CY Young odds are the top tonight but I will be building around Robby Ray as my top pitcher. He is having a career year as he enters the night with the 7th best ERA(2.72) in baseball and adds an elite 31% K rate. He has been even better in the second half going 6+ innings in seven of eight starts, allowed more than five hits just once, and has tallied an average of 7.8 K’s per start. He now gets a bottom-five offense in the O’s and at these prices gives us a terrific combination of a high floor and ceiling. Fire up Ray in all formats. German Márquez FD 9100 DK 8500 Opponent - TEX (A.J. Alexy) Park - TEX FD - 36.09 DK - 18.91 With Burnes and Wheeler just over $10K on Draftkings tonight the option is most definitely there to pay up for both pitchers which will keep you under the $20K threshold. For me, I will be looking for a little more savings and will be rolling with German Marquez, at least in cash games. He has been much better at home(weird right?) but I am not at all concerned about those home/road splits tonight in a plus matchup vs. the Rangers who have scored a league-worst 3.4 runs per game with a 70 wRC+ and .262 wOBA in the second half. Catcher/First Base Max Muncy FD 3700 DK 4800 Opponent - ATL (Drew Smyly) Park - ATL FD - 13.24 DK - 9.75 With this being a smaller slate with a lack of options at the position, I didn't expect a sub $5K price on DraftKings for Muncy but here we are. He has been a beast all season with a .392 wOBA and 150 wRC+, both of which are top 10 amongst all hitters in baseball. He now gets a plus matchup against an average-at-best Drew Smyly and has absolutely crushed lefties to the tune of a .401 wOBA and .262 ISO. Even on FanDuel, Muncy is easily my top play at the position in all formats tonight. Anthony Rizzo FD 3500 DK 3700 Opponent - LAA (Undecided) Park - LAA FD - 9.08 DK - 6.81 Luke Voit FD 3200 DK...

DraftKings and FanDuel MLB Picks for Friday 8/27/21

Pitchers Interesting slate tonight in that we have two top pitchers, both in plus matchups followed by a sea of pitchers who are either struggling, not consistent, have ugly matchups. I don't think we can pay up for both top pitchers on DraftKings tonight but I am going to make a case for both anyway. Gerrit Cole FD 11200 DK 10500 Opponent - OAK (James Kaprielian) Park - OAK FD - 38.33 DK - 21.4 After Getting popped by Tampa in July, Cole has bounced back in a big way giving up just seven hits and one earned run over his last two starts(11.2 IP) while striking out 15 and walking just two. While the matchup doesn't jump off the page, he does get the A's at a good time as they went to Thursday night's game losers of four straight and eight of their last 10 while scoring just 2.7 runs per game. It is close but coming slightly cheaper than McClanahan on DraftKings, Cole is my top pitcher but by the smallest of margins. Shane McClanahan FD 10500 DK 10700 Opponent - BAL (Matt Harvey) Park - BAL FD - 35.49 DK - 19.33 While it may seem crazy that McClanahan is the most expensive pitcher on DraftKings and more than Cole there is an argument for it. First of all, he is having a tremendous rookie season with a 3.63 ERA and even better 3.20 xFIP while also adding a 28.5% K rate. He also gets a terrific matchup against an Orioles team he has faced three times in the second half, holding them to 14 hits and five earned runs across 17 innings while striking out 7+ in each start. I will have exposure in all formats. Catcher/First Base Yuli Gurriel FD 3400 DK 5000 Opponent - TEX (Glenn Otto) Park - TEX FD - 12.79 DK - 9.81 I have always found it very interesting being a baseball writer and getting the same teams/players daily but having different player pools. A lot of that has to do with matchups for sure but this season pricing has dictated so much of my player pool. A great example is Paul Goldschmidt being $4800 on DK last night and now in a similar matchup is $6K tonight. If you have the money, there are a ton of options to pay up for here but for me, I am going...

Pitchers Chris Sale FD 10700 DK 10200 Opponent - MIN (John Gant) Park - MIN FD - 37.88 DK - 21.39 It feels like Chris Sale's return is going a bit under the radar which seems crazy considering he has put up 21+ DK/36+ FD points in each of his first two starts back after missing nearly two years. Even more impressive is that he has put up those numbers while being limited to 89 and 71 pitches, getting through five innings in both starts and picking up the win. The price continues to rise but so should the pitch count and the Red Sox are huge -300 favorites giving him excellent win equity once again. Sale is my top pitcher in all formats on Thursday. Alex Wood FD 8200 DK 8700 Opponent - NYM (Carlos Carrasco) Park - NYM FD - 31.23 DK - 16.85 This is a situation where the price and performance are going in the opposite direction leading to a buy-low situation. After nearly hitting $10K on DraftKings two weeks ago, his price starting falling after a couple of bad performances. The good news is that he has bounced back nicely posting 21+ DK/36+ FD points in two straight starts and now faces a Mets team that has dropped 10 of 12 while scoring just 3.2 runs per game and striking out 27% of the time. I will have exposure in all formats. Miles Mikolas FD 7500 DK 7100 Opponent - PIT (Mitch Keller) Park - PIT FD - 30.03 DK - 15.38 If you are looking to load up on bats, we get another buy-low with Mile Mikolas is only one start removed from missing nearly three months with a forearm injury. While limited to 84 pitches in his return, he looked good allowing just two hits with two runs(both unearned) while striking out five. He will be facing the same Pirates team in a plus matchup as they rank 2nd to last in both wOBA and wRC+ since the All-Star Break. With a pitch count that is likely to rise plus the low price, Mikolas is my favorite PTS/$ SP2 on this slate. Catcher/First Base Paul Goldschmidt FD 3800 DK 4800 Opponent - PIT (Mitch Keller) Park - PIT FD - 11.76 DK - 8.85 Targeting bad pitchers is the name of the game and that puts the Cardinals right near the top of the...
