Pitchers Gerrit Cole FD 10600 DK 10400 Opponent - HOU (Cristian Javier) Park - HOU FD - 36.31 DK - 20.39 The top pitchers in Burnes and Cole have some tough matchups on this early slate but I think we need to build around one of them and their huge fantasy floors. I slightly lean Cole and it may be due to my ownership in dynasty formats but either way, he has been one of the most dominant fantasy pitchers in baseball lately averaging 25.6 DK points per game over his last 11 starts. He has done this by holding opponents to two or fewer earned runs in eight of those starts and tallying an elite 33.3% K rate and 14.5% swinging-strike rate. Brad Keller FD 8100 DK 6800 Opponent - OAK (Jared Koenig) Park - OAK FD - 29.83 DK - 14.75 There is actually a nice selection of value pitchers for the SP2 slot on DraftKings today but I am going to side with Keller who easily has the best matchup. He faces an Oakland team he just dominated for seven innings allowing just one hit with six strikeouts and rank bottom three in almost every offensive stat. For Keller, he can definitely be hit or miss but has looked good in these plus matchups and gives us a high floor at his price and allows us to spend up for more bats. I will have exposure in all formats. Catcher/First Base Josh Bell FD 3300 DK 4000 Opponent - TEX (Matt Bush) Park - TEX FD - 9.42 DK - 7.09 Hunter Dozier FD 2300 DK 3000 Opponent - OAK (Jared Koenig) Park - OAK FD - 11.66 DK - 8.86 The market at the first base position has changed a bit in recent days as we now have multiple players sitting with a $6K price tag. Of those, Rizzo and Goldschmidt have the best matchups but for this article, I am going to give you some value options I am considering for cash games to help me to get elite pitching and elite bats at other positions. Let's start with Josh Bell who has been one of the few bright spots for the Nats in 2022. Pitchers Kyle Wright FD 10500 DK 9900 Opponent - SF (Alex Wood) Park - SF FD - 36.12 DK - 19.6 After three to four years of steady trips back and forth between AAA and Atlanta, Kyle Wright seems to have found his spot in the Braves rotation. Even coming off a bad start where he gave up five earned runs, he still enters Thursday with a terrific 2.94 ERA, 3.13 xFIP, opponent .213 average against, and with seven K's in each of his last three games has increased his K rate to 27.4% on the season. The matchup is only average against the Giants but given the other options, Wright is easily my top pitcher on this slate. Justin Steele FD 7700 DK 7200 Opponent - PIT (José Quintana) Park - PIT FD - 28.82 DK - 15.82 Steele had to wait even longer to get his shot in the big leagues after being drafted way back in 2014. He made his debut last year and broke into the rotation down the stretch and that is where he has spent the start of 2022 posting a 4.27 ERA and 3.99 xFIP. While those numbers don't stand out, he has been better as of late allowing just four earned runs over his last three starts(19 IP). The upside isn't great(20% K rate) but the matchup is above-average as he faces a Pirates team that is bottom three against lefty pitching. At his value price, Steele is my top SP2 on DraftKings today. Catcher/First Base C.J. Cron FD 4000 DK 5000 Opponent - MIA (Braxton Garrett) Park - MIA FD - 11.56 DK - 8.69 While the Rockies' splits on the road are among the worst in the league they have scored 22 in their last four away from Coors and also get a plus matchup on Thursday. They will look to salvage a game of the series against Braxton Garrett who has struggled to a 4.65 ERA through three starts while really struggling against righties giving up a .390 wOBA and .471 SLG %. Enter Cron who is off to a career-best start hitting over .300 with 17 home runs and 52 RBI. The price is getting up there, especially on FanDuel but all things considered, Cron is my top play at first today. Pitchers Gerrit Cole FD 10300 DK 10500 Opponent - TB (Shane McClanahan) Park - TB FD - 40.89 DK - 22.97 We have a pitcher's duel on Monday night between two of the top favourites for the AL Cy Young but I lean Cole for multiple reasons starting with the #1 offence in baseball to provide him run support. He hasn't even needed against the Rays who he has faced twice over the last three weeks holding them to just one earned run over 12 innings while striking out 17(37%). The other major factor here is the matchup as the Rays are much worse against righties striking out 25% of the time(4th most) in the split and 7% more than against southpaws. All things considered, Cole is our top pitcher in all formats. Noah Syndergaard FD 7800 DK 6400 Opponent - KC (Kris Bubic) Park - KC FD - 35.49 DK - 18.38 Paying up at SP2 on DraftKings might be a popular play with so many good options but I prefer the value route to jam more bats into my lineup. Syndergaard is that value arm and he checks almost every single box starting with the matchup as a big -185 favourite against the Royals and their bottom-five offence. Outside of two meltdown starts, Thor has been terrific this season holding opponents to three or few earned runs in the other eight starts and two or fewer in seven of them. Add to it, he has also reach a season-low price on DraftKings and he is easily our top PTS/$ value pitcher on this slate. Also Consider: Josh Winckowski(BOS) as another value SP2 who will get a third straight start as a big home favourite(-172) against the Tigers Catcher/First Base Luke Voit FD 3800 DK 4700 Opponent - ARI (Zach Davies) Park - ARI FD - 8.99 DK - 6.74 The first base position is one of the toughest on the slate with all the top guys in below-average to bad matchups while sitting with elite price tags. For me, at least in cash games, I will venture down into the second of pricing and target Luke Voit who has been on a heater as of late. Since the calendar turned to June, he has hit .284 but that is not the real story as he has also added six home runs, 21 RBI, and an eye-popping .399 wOBA and...

Pitchers Justin Verlander FD 10900 DK 10600 Opponent - CHW (Johnny Cueto) Park - CHW FD - 38.64 DK - 21.45 Not often do we see a pitcher who is legit in the running for the Cy Young(current odds leader) and also in line for the Comeback Player of the Year award. It is pretty incredible what Verlander is doing at the age of 39 let alone after returning from a year and a half absence due to injury. The control has been tremendous as he has only walked 15 batters(5% BB rate) on the season and that has helped him to an elite .81 WHIP and 1.94 ERA. The upside may be somewhat limited as his K rate(26%) isn't what it once was and the White Sox don't K much(19%) but they have been below-average against right-handed pitching(87 wRC+) and Verlander is no average righty. All things considered, he is our top pitching option on this slate. Jeffrey Springs FD 8700 DK 8000 Opponent - BAL (Kyle Bradish) Park - BAL FD - 31.32 DK - 17.04 Springs is just another example of the Rays finding a player for practically nothing and turning him into a solid major leaguer. Since being converted to a starter in early May, he has posted an eye-popping 1.72 ERA across seven starts with a 25.5% K rate that has room to grow as he also has an elite 13% swinging-strike rate in that time. Today, he gets a great matchup to add to his numbers as a -170 favourite against a below-average Orioles offence that strikes out over 25% of the time. Springs is my top SP2 to pair with Verlander and a solid option in all formats on FanDuel to help get more bats in your lienup. Catcher/First Base Ji-Man Choi FD 3400 DK 4200 Opponent - BAL (Kyle Bradish) Park - BAL FD - 9.81 DK - 7.32 With Verlander being the top pitching option we will be looking for a solid PTS/$ team to stack with him and the Rays check all the boxes. It starts with the matchup against Kyle Bradish who has been better than his 6.86 ERA but does give up a ton of baserunners(1.67 WHIP) and opponents have tallied an ugly .400 wOBA against him on the season. Since being rocked for a combined 11 earned runs in back-to-back starts in late April, Wheeler has been one of the top pitchers in baseball with a .95 wHIP, 1.42 ERA, 2.44 xFIP, and elite 33% K rate while averaging 27.1 DK/47.3 FD points per game. He now faces a bottom-five offence in the Nationals and while they don't strike out much overall, they do strike out nearly 3% more against right-handed pitching. All things considered, he is my top pitcher in all formats on the main slate. Martin Pérez FD 10500 DK 9000 Opponent - DET (Beau Brieske) Park - DET FD - 30.89 DK - 15.46 Up until his latest start on the road against the White Six, Martin Perez was one of the surprise stories on the season. Despite being roughed up for four earned runs he still enters the night with a sparkling 2.18 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 3.33 K/BB ratio. While the upside is somewhat limited, it is tough to pass on that consistency in this plus matchup against a Tigers team that ranks dead last in runs scored, wOBA, wRC+, and is Top 5 in K rate. It is close between Severino and Perez at SP2 on DraftKings tonight but I lean the latter slightly due to the matchup and small discount. Lock and load in all formats. Also Consider: George Kirby(SEA) as a value SP2 on DraftKings facing a struggling Angels team that has an ugly .270 wOBA, 75 wRC+, and 30% K rate over the past two weeks Catcher/First Base Rhys Hoskins FD 3600 DK 4400 Opponent - WSH (Patrick Corbin) Park - WSH FD - 13.69 DK - 10.16 These are the kind of slates that require our full attention leading into lock as our top team to target plays in the game with the biggest risk of rain.
