Click here to get started As we come upon Week 13 of the NFL season, I think it’s a good time to revisit sample size. While it’s true that generally we want the largest sample size possible to inform out decisions, this is not always the case, especially when it comes to analyzing defensive matchups. For example, through the first seven weeks of the season, the Texans had allowed four QBs to top 25 fantasy points and had allowed five multi-TD games. Since Week 8, the most yards the Texans have given up are 228, and they have given up one TD over the past four games. Some defenses simply take a while to learn the same and then improve, while others suffer injuries that cause a major drop-off. Either way, this is a reminder to not discount recent trends in defensive statistics, even if the sample is small. Let’s get into the Week 13 plays. QUARTERBACKS Cam Newton - FD 9000 DK 7400 Opponent- NO A top three fantasy QB on the season, Newton draws the Saints with his Panthers sporting a substantial team total of over 27 points. The Saints defense has allowed a passer rating of 115.9, over 10 points higher than the next worst team. They have given up 38 offensive TDs this season, and Newton is third in the league with 27 total TDs scored. It goes without saying, but the Saints have allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing QBs by a landslide. Andy Dalton - FD 8000 DK 6400 Opponent- CLE Dalton goes on the road to face a Browns team coming off a short week that has allowed the second most points per game in the NFL. The Bengals; team total is 26.5, one of Week 13’s highest. While Dalton has scored the seventh most fantasy points per game among QBs, the Browns have allowed the seventh most. Cleveland ranks 29th in pass defense DVOA. Jay Cutler - FD 7000 DK 5100 Opponent- SF Cutler should offer good value in a game where the Bears have a Vegas implied total of 25 points, four higher than their season average. The 49ers have struggled...

Click here to get started The Thanksgiving holiday provides an opportune time to discuss strategy on small slates. First of all, if you’re playing cash games on a small slate, know that there will be increased variance in your results due to such a small player pool. GPPs tend to be a much better contest type to play in a small slate. Many entrants treat small slate GPPs like cash games, playing mostly chalk plays, resulting in a ton of overlap. So how do you get an edge in small slate GPPs? Focus on low risk/high reward differentiation plays: You know you need to be contrarian somehow, but simply fading the chalk across the board isn’t going to get you anywhere. Instead, focus on the positions that require one roster slot. If you successfully hit on a non-chalk play here, you get points that are impossible to make up, and there are only six choices for you to choose from. Use Larger Stacks: With only three games on the slate, it’s very possible that one game has significantly more fantasy production than the other two. Stacking entire offenses and entire games is a way to gain a differentiated lineup. Ignore Negative Correlation: Many entrants will hesitate to utilize negatively correlated pairings, or even players that are positively correlated but are perceived to cut into each other’s production (i.e. QB-RB). However, with limited options at your disposal, it’s fine to use negatively correlated pairings if you think it will enable you to outscore the field. Using these pairings is another way to get a differentiated lineup without playing sub-optimal players just to be contrarian. With that, I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving. Let’s get into this week’s plays.   QUARTERBACKS Carson Palmer - FD 8100 DK 7100 Opponent- SF Ranked second in DraftKings points per game and third in FanDuel points per game, Palmer will face a 49ers defense ranked 31st in pass defense DVOA. Palmer leads the NFL in TD passes per game (2.7) and yards per attempt (9.0), and is fifth in passing yards per game (306.6). The 49ers allow 1.7 TDs per game (16th), 8.3 yards per attempt (30th)...

Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial Last week reinforced the notion that volume is paramount for a running back. Despite seemingly tough matchups, both Jeremy Langford and Charcandrick West exploded for over 100 total yards and multiple TDs. Interestingly, both backs took screen passes 80 yards or more to the house. Passing game work is extremely valuable to a running back, because there’s a lot more room for good things to happen. Whereas a running back has to make his way around a ton of bodies at the line of scrimmage when handling a conventional running play, he often will have blockers in space when he catches the ball. Both this week and as the season progresses, be sure not to overlook RBs who get passing game volume that are in seemingly tough matchups. They’ll be very low-owned in tournaments and have upside that the majority of the field is not accounting for.   QUARTERBACKS Cam Newton - FD 8600 DK 6900 Opponent- WAS The QB2 and QB5 on FanDuel and DraftKings, respectively, Newton will take the field at home against the Redskins with his Panthers’ Vegas implied total sitting at 26 points, which bodes well for a QB that accounts for 81 percent of his team’s offensive TDs. Newton has scored multiple TDs in eight straight games, and the Redskins have allowed multiple passing TDs in four straight. Derek Carr - FD 7700 DK 6300 Opponent- DET Carr has been a top-10 fantasy QB this season, and travels to Detroit to take on a defense ranked 31st in the NFL in opponent passer rating and 28th in the NFL in pass defense DVOA. Not surprisingly, the Lions have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing QBs. With two of Detroit’s top three cornerbacks (Rashean Mathis and Josh Wilson) now on the injured reserve, Carr’s matchup should be ripe for the picking. His Raiders have a healthy team total of over 25 points. Tyrod Taylor - FD 7200 DK 5200 Opponent- NE A statement that is usually reserved for running backs rings true for Taylor: he Is game-script-dependent. Over his last three games (all wins), Taylor...

Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial I was going to write a detailed analysis of why you shouldn’t ignore RB-WR stacks, or other negative correlations. But in light of the recent industry news, I’ll sum it up quickly: RB-WR and other negatively correlated same-team stacks shouldn’t be avoided in tournaments provided each player is a good value independent of the other. When a RB or WR gains yardage, it keeps the offense on the field and creates a synergistic effect where both players have more opportunities to rack up volume and score TDs, which is what happened with DeAngelo Williams and Antonio Brown in Week 9. Now, as you probably know, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman declared Tuesday that daily fantasy sports constitute illegal gambling in the state and ordered DraftKings and FanDuel to stop running games in the state. I’m a New Yorker. Even if you’re not, your state could be next. Please help support daily gamers in New York, and the entire DFS industry, by signing this petition: http://www.fantasysportsforall.com/ Thank you. Hopefully we can all continue to play the game we love. QUARTERBACKS Tom Brady - FD 9100 DK 8600 Opponent- NYG The overall fantasy QB1, Brady travels to the Meadowlands to take on a Giants defense allowing the second-most passing yards per game in the NFL (308). Brady himself is third in the league in passing yards per game (338.6). The Patriots team total is hovering around 31, and Brady has been in on 77 percent of the Patriots offensive touchdowns this season. Aaron Rodgers - FD 9200 DK 7500 Opponent- DET With Randall Cobb (shoulder) and Davante Adams (ankle) appearing to be over nagging early-season injuries, now makes a good time to buy in on Rodgers against a Lions defense ranked in the bottom-five in terms of fantasy points per game allowed to QBs. Rodgers’ price is down $1,100 on DraftKings and $500 on FanDuel from when the season began. The Packers have a Vegas implied total of 29.5, and Rodgers has accounted for 83 percent of Packers offensive TDs this season. Blake Bortles - FD 7800 DK 5600 Opponent- BAL...

Daily Fantasy NFL Football Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings, and DraftPot - Week 9 Editor's note: Get ready for Raybon's insightful article on NFL's week 9! It was another killer week for DFSR's projection system. Eli Manning was the top overall QB play in our system and he and Brees played a game more suited to college football on Saturdays. Needless to say, we're all feeling pretty good around here! Click here for a free 3 Day Free Trial   This week, I’d like to take a moment to discuss some correlations that you may not be utilizing in tournaments. Everyone knows about the QB-receiver or RB-defense stacks, but an overlooked correlation play is players from opposing pass games. In tournaments, you’re looking for outlying performances, and when one passing game posts an outlying performance (think the Saints last week), it puts pressure on the opposing passing game to do the same (think the Giants last week). In fact, the winning lineup in both the FanDuel Sunday Million and the DraftKings Millionaire Maker employed Brees stacks with Beckham also in the lineup. Although I unfortunately didn’t take home the grand prize in either contest, I had success with this strategy as well, not only with the Giants and Saints, but with Alshon Jeffery and Stefon Diggs in the Bears-Vikings game. The bets way to give yourself a decent shot at taking down a GPP is to submit multiple entries, but you’ll go crazy if you try to create a lineup with every single possible combination of players you like that week. Instead, think about employing same-game passing game correlations when deciding how to pair up your QBs, WRs, and TEs. QUARTERBACK Tom Brady - FD 9500 DK 8500 Opponent- WAS Brady leads all QBs in passing yards per game (344.3) and passing TDs per game (2.9). If you add in his two rushing scores, he’s averaging over three total TDs per game. The Redskins aren’t in a position to provide much resistance, as they are a bottom-10 team in terms of defensive passing DVOA and passer rating allowed. New England’s Vegas implied team total is sitting at a whopping 33 points, and Brady has been in on 79 percent of his team’s offensive TDs this season. Philip Rivers - FD 8600 DK 6900 Opponent- CHI Averaging 344.1...
