Pitcher Chris Sale FD 10900 DK 13200 Opponent - TOR (Koehler) Park - @TOR FD - 42.43 DK - 27.95 For a 15-game slate, the cupboard isn't exactly overflowing with stud SPs. Unless you're banking on another Rich Hill flirtation with perfection, Chris Sale is looking like extreme chalk, and you already know the reasons why. They begin and end with the fact that he's Chris Sale, MLB leader among qualified starters in Ks/9 (12.77) and FIP (2.08). Toronto isn't a bad lineup vs. lefties, and the Rogers Centre is friendly to hitters, but whatever. Sale has been arguably the best pitcher in the game this season, and with at least 9 Ks in 15 of his 26 starts he delivers the best safety/ceiling you're going to find on this slate and many others. Jake Arrieta FD 9900 DK 11100 Opponent - PIT (Kuhl) Park - @CHC FD - 36.11 DK - 23.64 We'd have a hard time using him over Sale on FanDuel, where their cost discrepancy isn't that wide, and the prices are going to make them borderline impossible to use in tandem on DraftKings, but Arrieta is at least interesting tonight. As ever, how interesting is going to depend on the wind in Wrigley. Lefties have had some success against him this season (.338 wOBA, .214 ISO), but he's also got a nearly 25 K% against them so that neutralizes the danger somewhat. Also, what lefties are we worried about in the Pittsburgh lineup? John Jaso and Adam Frazier? Not exactly the kind of dudes who make us rearrange our plans. So as long as he keeps Josh Bell at bay, we're feeling decent about Arrieta's chances tonight, because his numbers against righties are approaching studly (.266 wOBA, .117 ISO). Also of note: he's held opponents to two earned runs or fewer in eight straight starts, so while his overall numbers don't scream "ace," he's been pretty close to the guy he was last year lately. Luke Weaver FD 8400 DK 7600 Opponent - MIL (Garza) Park - @MIL FD - 27.16 DK - 17.99 For SP2 value plays, you could do a lot worse than Weaver, who looks like he might just live up to the hype. One caveat:...

We've got you completely covered. COLORADO ROCKIES Yeah, it's chalk, but if you're choosing to pay up for hitting, this is the first place you've got to turn. Their implied run total is over 7 as of Monday morning, and the full fade feels like more of a risk than I'm willing to take. On paper, it's looking like a bloodbath. Jordan Zimmermann is fanning fewer than 6 per 9 IP and has an extraordinarily low 32% ground ball rate this season. That tells us virtually everything we need to know, but if you need further evidence, consider that his 6.11 ERA is the worst in baseball among qualified starters and it's supported by a 5.46 FIP and 5.47 xFIP. In other words, Zimmermann has been precisely as bad as you think he is. The only hesitation on stacking the Rockies is the pricing, and really that's only an issue on DK, where the top five hitters are all $4.8K+. Over on FanDuel, the prices aren't that bad as far as Coors Field goes, but that also means the ownership will be that much higher. Blackmon, Arenado, Parra and Reynolds all have wOBAs over .350 and ISOs at or above .200 vs. RHP this season, but really, you can use anybody you want against Zimmerman. Lefties have a .219 ISO and .380 wOBA against his this year, and his numbers against righties aren't much better (.216/.351). SEATTLE MARINERS Seattle's implied run total is below five in this one, which gives me pause, but ultimately, I'm gonna take a shot on them. I'm not sure what Vegas sees here -- maybe they're expecting the betting public to be spooked by the Mariners' under-performance at Yankee Stadium this weekend, but it's going to take more than that to get me to fade the chance to pick on Chris Tillman. He's only thrown 74 innings this season, and that's the only thing keeping him off the wrong end of the ERA leaderboard. He comes in with a 7.75 mark that's more or less backed up by a 6.49 FIP and 5.54 xFIP. Righties are pummeling...

Max Scherzer FD 11500 DK 14100 Opponent - MIA (Urena) Park - @WSH FD - 43.61 DK - 24.55 We've got some decisions to make tonight. Coors Field is on the slate, and the activation of Scherzer means we've got some aces -- not to mention a handful of mid-tier arms -- to choose from. And the fact that it's a 10-game slate will likely cut into the amount of attractive value bats in the pool, so you're going to have to decide if you want to pay up for pitching or for hitting. Scherzer is obviously a stud, but the price (especially on DK), as well as the fact that he's coming off the DL, should keep his ownership in check. Truthfully, in lineups where we're employing an ace, we'd probably rather take the savings on Kluber, but since we wrote him up with the cash game picks, we'll take a look at Scherzer here. In sum, he's about as good as it gets for reliable DFS production. He ranks 2nd among qualified starters this season with 12.35 Ks/9 and a 2.25 ERA, and his 2.82 FIP and 3.06 xFIP rank third and fourth in the league, respectively. He's got double-digit Ks in 13 of his 24 starts this season and 9 Ks in four more. And striking the injury-shortened appearance on Aug. 1, he's been his typically nasty self against the Marlins this season, racking up 20 Ks in 15 IP while yielding four runs on seven hits. Of course, the Marlins are on a bit of a tear right now, led by Giancarlo Stanton's unearthly HR pace, but what we're more concerned about is Scherzer's health. There's no accounting for the decision-making processes of Dusty Baker, but it would make sense for the Nats to treat their ace with care and limit his run down the stretch. That adds an element of risk we don't usually have to consider with Scherzer and it's significant enough that we'll probably want...

We've got you completely covered.   CHICAGO CUBS Homer Bailey, Great American Smallpark, wind blowing out. Y'all know what to do. The Cubs' overall numbers against RHP this season aren't great, but whatever. The bats have awakened in the second half, and they're still a top-10 offense for the full year in ISO vs. RHP. Six of their eight expected starters have an ISO over .200 in the split (Jon Jay and Ben Zobrist are the exceptions), and in one of baseball's most power-friendly parks, the chance that a home run derby breaks out is very real. And it's not like we can expect Bailey to do anything to stop it. He comes in with an 8.44 ERA and a 5.70 xFIP. Lefties own a .366 wOBA against him this season, but righties are destroying him: .424 wOBA, .229 ISO. They won't come cheap, but there's virtually no combination of Cubs bats we're not interested in tonight. NEW YORK YANKEES Due to park considerations, the Yankees should be a little less chalky, but the upside against Matt Boyd is there regardless of the venue. Also, while Comerica Park isn't overly friendly to hitters, it's a lot closer to neutral than its reputation might have you believe. That's good enough for us, because we're looking for a chance to pick on Boyd. He's giving up a .370 wOBA and .191 ISO to righties this season, and the Yankees have four guys -- Hicks, Judge, Sanchez and Frazier -- with an ISO over .225 vs. RHP. Judge is obviously slumping, so if that worries you, I get it. And if that's the case, you might want to just fade here. But we like his chances against a soft-tossing, fly-ball pitcher with iffy command. And Detroit's bullpen ranks dead last in baseball with a 4.94 xFIP, so if the Yanks chase Boyd early, it's not like the Tigers have a cavalry of studs to come in and shut things down. Try out InGame Fantasy for a totally new DFS experience. Promo code: DFSR MINNESOTA TWINS We've got an awful lot of appealing stack options tonight, and most of...

We've got you completely covered.   Pitchers Jeff Samardzija FD 8400 DK 8600 Opponent - MIL (Nelson) Park - @SF FD - 35.47 DK - 23.54 Samardzija could be getting a decent amount of attention in this game -- its got the lowest total on the board, the park is great for pitching, and the Brewers strike out more than any team in baseball vs. RHP. If it looks like he's going to be chalk, I'd be OK with the fade, but Samardzija definitely needs to be on your tournament radar today. Granted, we're still waiting for the results to match the underlying stats this season, but it's hard to imagine that a guy with 9.24 Ks/9 and just 1.34 BBs/9 will continue to carry a 4.79 ERA, especially when he's pitching about half his games in the best pitcher's park in the league. Some of the blame for that under-performance relative to expectation (3.38 xFIP) probably falls to Samardzija -- maybe he's tipping pitches or sequencing poorly or any number of other possibilities. But the bigger factor appears to be plain bad luck. His batting average and wOBA allowed are both running .25-.30 points higher than they should be based on Statcast's batted ball data, and at some point, positive regression should be coming. If it starts tonight, there's big upside here. And even if it doesn't all come at once, we like his chances to return solid value on these prices. Jimmy Nelson FD 8700 DK 11000 Opponent - SF (Samardzija) Park - @SF FD - 35.28 DK - 23.27 I'm not super excited to pay that price on DK, but think of it this way: not many people will be. It's obviously a little more enticing from a point/$ perspective on FanDuel, but we think he's worth a GPP look on either site for one reason or another. There's no doubt Nelson has made big strides in 2017. He's posting career-bests in Ks/9 (10.05), BBs/9 (2.25), ERA (3.74), FIP (3.06) and xFIP (3.12). Those last two numbers, by the way, put him among the best pitchers in baseball, ranking 7th in both categories....
