And be sure to follow Brent on Twitter @thebholloway Pitchers Early Anibal Sanchez - FD 8800 DK 9200 I know. You see that 5.44 ERA, and it’s tough to get on board with Anibal. Understandable. But while he hasn’t been the same guy who spun sub-3.00 FIPs over the last two seasons, he hasn’t been as terrible as the first glance might suggest. The K-to-BB ratio is in line with his career averages and he’s gone six-plus innings in all but one start this season. What’s killing him is a drop in ground ball rate and a stunning inability to keep fly balls in the park. If that spooks you, I get it. But before you running for cover with the likes of Aaron Harang, consider: the Twins rank 25th in the league in homers, 22th in slugging percentage and have the fourth-highest K% in the majors against right-handed pitching. I don’t see them burning Sancez too badly here. Vance Worley - FD 6600 DK 6600 Vance Worley, ladies and gents. What does that tell you about the slate of arms we’re working with on the early slate? Ok. Not a cash game play, but if you want to go cheap at pitcher in tourney play, here’s the pitch for VW: the Phillies suck, objectively speaking. They’re last in the league in runs scored (by a significant margin), wOBA, and pretty much any other metric you care to dig up. Nothing wrong with betting against that. Late Tyson Ross - FD 8300 DK 9200 Ross, with his 10.62 Ks per 9 innings this season, is probably you’re safest per-dollar play tonight. Cueto’s surely gonna get plenty of run, but the price tag is just feeling a little too steep for our projection system. Meanwhile, Ross is significantly cheaper and hasn’t had a truly bad start in terms of fantasy scoring in over a month – but he also hasn’t had a really good one. What’s holding him back is the walk rate. It’s at over 5 per 9 now, which kinda makes you appreciate the 3.98 ERA. Ross has never been a dude who can live on the black, but he’s been better over his last few starts – much closer to the 3 walks/9 he’s worked around for his entire career. I’m a little nervous that the Nats are coming in stroking, but their high K-rate and Petco soothe that concern enough. Roenis...

Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and Draftster 5/7/15 Ready to make the leap and get access to the exclusive projection system that produces these picks? Sign up now and get a free 3 day trial to our lineup construction tool for FanDuel, DraftKings and Draftster.   Be sure to follow Brent on Twitter @thebholloway   Pitchers Early John Lackey - FD 7600 DK 7700 DFSTR 7000 Not a lot to get excited about on the early slate mounds, so might be a good day to go cheap. If you do, Lackey is a good contrarian choice going against Arietta. The win probability is diminished somewhat, but for all their upgrades, the Cubs are still striking out more than any team in the league right now. Lackey’s kinda been all over the place through one month but his overall numbers remain respectable and he’ll have a good chance to improve on them at home today. Corey Kluber - FD 9500 DK 9800 DFSTR 9200 Ugh. The system doesn’t love him, the Royals don’t strike out, and he’s in the middle of an ugly three-start stretch. That’s the bad stuff. The good is that his xFIP is still under 3.00, he’s still striking out a guy per inning, and he’s getting loads of ground balls. That makes him a strong candidate for positive regression real soon. Don’t love the matchup, but I’m not the least bit scared of the 0-4 record. Late Chris Archer - FD 8900 DK 9400 DFSTR 8000 Among the two clear choices in the late games, Archer gets the edge based on matchup and ballpark. The Rangers have been pretty awful offensively (.290 team wOBA) with a league average strikeout rate. Meanwhile, Archer has been ace-like. He got a little loose with his command in Camden Yard last time out, but he’s striking out more than a batter per inning and he’ll be backed up by the power-killing confines of Tropicana Field. Collin McHugh - FD 8400 DK 8100 DFSTR 7600 The only drawback to going with Archer is that you’re likely to be among multitudes. For differentiation with similar upside, consider McHugh. And don’t let the star power at the top of the Angels’ lineup distract you from the fact that the offense simply hasn’t produced much of anything this year. They’re 27th in MLB in team wOBA and 20th in runs scored. Also noteworthy: Angel Stadium is nearly identical to Tropicana Field in terms of overall park factors and actually more pitcher-friendly when it comes to limiting home runs.     Catchers Early Victor Martinez - FD 3100 DK 4400 DFSTR 6900 This pick has nothing to do with the fact that...

Sign up now and get a free 3 day trial to our lineup construction tool for FanDuel, DraftKings and Draftster.   Pitcher James Shields - FD 8100 DK 9600 DFSTR 3100 SpTradeX A I’d guess we’re likely to see David Price get a lot of run tonight, but Shields is our pick, and it’s really not close. He’ll be twirling in one of the league’s most pitcher-friendly parks against one of the league’s most pitcher-friendly lineups. Just kidding. Sort of. The Astros pack some home run punch, but Petco will keep that in check. They’ll also work the count, but Shields isn’t the type to walk the ballpark. Most importantly, they strike out more than any team in the league, which could yield DFS gold for Shields tonight. John Lackey - FD 7400 DK 8000 DFSTR 3100 SpTradeX A Once upon a time the guy going against Cole Hamels was likely to be avoided due to the win difficulty. But then the Phillies offense happened. The Phils don’t strike out a ton, but the other things they don’t do a ton include getting on base and scoring runs. In fact, they’re worst in the league in both categories entering Sunday’s games. Lackey got slapped around a bit last time out, but this lineup ain’t the Nats. Plus, the ballpark favors pitchers and the price is on the cheap side. Not a bad pick at all if you wanna save on pitching. Dillon Gee - FD 6200 DK 6400 DFSTR 3100 SpTradeX A Only five teams strike out more than the Marlins, and though the park is about league average overall, it suppresses homers with the best of them. To be clear, this is not a safe play. But if you’re looking for some differentiation with upside for your GPPs, Gee might be your guy. Catcher Victor Martinez - FD 3400 DK 4800 DFSTR 6900 SpTradeX B Seems like V-Mart might be playing through some pain following offseason knee injury, but the point is he’s playing, and at this price, he’s a bargain. Sure, he’s off to a slow start, but the guy simply mashes left-handed pitching (1.123 OPS vs. LHP since 2014), and Tommy Millone has been mashed by far lesser hitters than this. And with all those big right-handed bats in the Detroit lineup, Martinez should be in prime position for run production hitting cleanup. Brian McCann - FD 2800 DK 3900 DFSTR 6200 If spending on catcher isn’t something you’re comfortable with, there’s plenty of choices if you wanna...

Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel, DraftKings and Draftster 4/22/15 Editor's Note: Say hello to new DFSR contributor Brent Holloway. No like really, say hello. Don't be rude. Kershaw’s the clear play of the night on a pure points basis, as he’s a better bet for big K numbers. But Bumgarner rates higher on value, because Kershaw’s price is nearing prohibitive levels. Tough call, but based on some of the bad matchups for high-dollar hitters, I’m leaning toward Kershaw and seeing what I can scrape together to fill out the lineup. But obviously the biggest problem here is that they face each other, with lowers the win expectation for each. This is a very tough slate all around and will require quite a bit of finagling no matter what direction you choose. Cole Hamels - FD 9800 DK 9200 DFSTR 3100 SpTradeX A Or you could skip it and take your chances here. Hamels has struggled with his command through three starts, but don’t be overly influenced by that. He’s still putting up a K per inning and Marlins will be the lightest-hitting bunch he’s faced so far. Very much wish this game was in Miami, and he'll have to clear through Giancarlo who dines on the inner organs of lefties, but this could be a K upside day for Hamels. Dillon Gee - FD 6600 DK 6500 DFSTR 3100 SpTradeX A This is mostly if you want to go contrarian and try to load up on expensive bats. This is only a tournament play, but the Braves offense is so light hitting and Citi Field depresses power (even with the walls moved in some) that Gee could make for an interesting play if he can throw enough innings. Catcher Evan Gattis - FD 2800 DK 3600 DFSTR 5300 SpTradeX D Despite all the whiffs and the SafeCo factor, the projection system is pretty geeked about the Astros facing J.A. Happ. Gattis is mostly a GPP guy for me right now, but tonight looks like a good night to play him in those formats – and maybe others. His strikeouts are the subject of much hand-wringing, but he’s also had some...

Sign up now and get a free 3 day trial to our lineup construction tool for FanDuel, DraftKings and Draftster. Editor's Note: Say hello to new DFSR contributor Brent Holloway. No like really, say hello. Don't be rude. We are excited to have him on board writing up baseball this season. You can follow him @thebholloway Pitcher On the hoof, not much appealing about this crop of SPs. Hold your nose and pick one. Brandon Morrow - FD 6600 DK 6700 Morrow actually looked pretty filthy against San Fran in his first start of the season (7 IP, 7Ks 0 R, 4 H, 3 BB). That doesn’t impress our projection system as much as it might you and I, but it still likes Morrow’s chances against Arizona in power-sapping Petco – at least for the price. The San Diego park is especially tough on righties, diminishing the chances that Goldschmidt and Trumbo go bananas. Brett Anderson - FD 6300 DK 6700 DFSTR 5100 The top value of the night according to our algorithm. Is Anderson still any good? I’m not all that confident, but since the oft-injured southpaw showed such promise five years, we haven’t really seen enough to know. He’s not gonna rack up a bunch of Ks, but what you’re hoping for here is six or seven strong innings with park-suppressed offense and maybe sneaking out with a win on the cheap. If you spend a little more on pitching Lance Lynn and Jon Niese are interesting but I think going cheap and loading up a little more on bats is the way to go on this slate.   Catcher Buster Posey - FD 4400 DK 4300 DFSTR 6900 Though he evened out a bit last season, this is still a guy who has taken lefties to task for his career. Posey is real tough for lefties to get down on strikes and has a career OPS split hovering around 1K. Hate the ballpark but like everything else about him. Carlos Ruiz - FD 2400 DK 3200 DFSTR 4800 Ruiz isn’t the kind of guy who’s often gonna carry you to GPP glory, but he is the prototype for low-price, high-floor. He rarely whiffs, has batted second or fifth in every game this season, and sports a nifty .806 career OPS against lefties. A less important, but fun anecdote: he hasn’t had a 0-point game in FanDuel scoring this season. Try finding that anywhere else on near-minimum prices. Dioner Navarro - FD 2600 DK 4100 DFSTR 3100...
