What We Know As of Tuesday morning, we're looking at a full day of baseball, unencumbered by Mother Nature. It's another split slate today, with a pair of early games and 10 on the docket for tonight. If you're playing an all-day slate, you'll want to be a little wary of the weather for Baltimore at Boston and San Fran at Colorado, but the risk appears minimal and by the time the late/main slate locks we should know exactly what we're looking at. Other than that, we're good to go with mostly blue skies and reasonable temps (for April, anyway -- nothing in the 30s). Some personnel issues to be mindful of: The Astros have activated Evan Gattis off the DL and he should be ready to return to duty. He's still catcher eligible on FanDuel (yeah, don't ask me), and reasonably priced at $2,600, so he might make an interesting tournament play if he's back in the lineup tonight. Tigers catcher James McCann is headed to the DL after a collision with John Jaso yesterday. Jarrod Saltalamacchia is donning the tools of ignorance for Detroit today and hitting out of the No. 7 hole. Reds SS Zack Cozart left yesterday's game early due to quad tightness. There's no update on his status as of this morning. Adam Jones wasn't in the lineup for Baltimore yesterday and is reportedly still not comfortable at the plate due to a rib injury, but he was healthy enough to enter yesterday's game as a defensive replacement, so a full return could be near. John Jaso is not in the Pirates' lineup today. Super cheap Matt Joyce will be hitting leadoff. Tournament Stacks Boston Red Sox Despite the fact that baseball is being played at Coors Field today, the Red Sox look like the stack of the day as they look to get fat off of BP specialist Mike Wright. The BoSox have some nice bats throughout the lineup, but...

What We Know It was already looking like a weird day for DFS—Ubaldo made an appearance in our picks column, for goodness' sake—and that was before we turned our attention to the weather. It's still early, and much could change, but the uncertainty is maybe the ugliest part of all these forecasts. Of the nine games scheduled for Thursday, there are only three where weather is of no concern (White Sox/A's, Dodgers/Giants, Cubs/Diamondbacks). Nothing will turn you into a fan of indoor baseball more efficiently than DFS. UPDATE: On a closer look, the weather around these slates is terrible. The early games have significant issues in NY, CLE, and WAS. Be aware! Monitor the other six games closely, and if you're playing an all-day slate, be cautious. Or don't. One of the quirks of iffy weather is that it creates some really interesting risk/reward scenarios if you choose to live dangerously with your tournament lineups. Lineups, whatnot We've already got the lineups for the Phillies and Reds, and it might be close to lock by the time the others start trickling in, so keep an eye out for breaking news. Projecting lineups blindly can be tricky at this time of week, and especially this early in the season. To wit: Scott Schebler is batting leadoff for Cincinnati today following a walk-off double in his first start for the Reds on Wednesday. That's great news for DFSers (and Schebler and his loved ones, too, I suppose). He's coming at a steep discount ($2,200 on FanDuel) and has big upside. He struck out a ton in the minors, but also displayed good pop, which is always nice at Great American Ballpark, where the wind is expected to be blowing out today. Also of note: Billy Hamilton and Brandon Phillips are sitting today, as is Cesar Hernandez for the Phillies. Tournament Stacks Chicago Cubs Holy cow. The projection system is drooling over this one. The Cubs have a lineup...

In that case, may we direct you to Pintrest? If you're still with us, congratulations on your red blood and good sense. So yeah, nobody's complaining about nine games on a Thursday—at least not until they get a good look at the pitching options available today. Just warning y'all. It ain't pretty. PITCHER Early slate Alex Wood FD 7800 DK 6600 Opponent - SF (Peavy) Park - @SF FD - 32.35 DK - 15.76 I know, right? Woof. Here's the deal. Pitching sucks today. I tried to warn you earlier. Lots of people are gonna be grabbing Danny Salazar and playing him in tourneys and cash games, which makes sense on the surface. He's the only name that doesn't induce a gag reflex on first blush. He's young, he throws hard, he strikes guys out at a decent rate. That's fine, but we're not so sure about him at the price. Actually, our system prefers Wood regardless of price. There are two narratives on Wood, and how you feel about him depends on which you buy into most. Option A) He was never a touted prospect and his early success in Atlanta was the product of a gimmicky, ball-hiding delivery. Hitters solved that and now he's washed up at 25 years old. Option B) Relax. It was just a bad year. There's probably some merit to both, but here's what's not debatable: San Francisco is wonderful place to pitch. No park in the majors suppressed offense more in 2015....

What We Know We've got a multitude of slates today—four at both DraftKings and FanDuel—with a healthy six-gamer starting at 1:10 p.m. Eastern. For those early games, we should have a handle on what to expect from the weather, as well as the starting lineups, at lock. The one exception is the Boston/Cleveland game, with first pitch scheduled for 6:10 p.m. This might be one to avoid, as there's a 40 percent chance of rain at game time and it only goes up for the rest of the night. The rest of the early slate should be worry-free, as four of the six games will be played indoors. No such luck tonight, when weather could wreak havoc on nearly half the games. Forecasts to keep an especially close eye on: Cardinals at Pirates, Nationals at Braves, and Phillies at Reds. The situation in Cincinnati looks especially dire, so be sure to check the weather this evening before rolling out all those Brandon Finnegan tournament lineups. Tournament Stacks There's a lot to be tempted by on the early slate today. Let's start in Texas, where clear weather, an outward bound breeze, and the unyielding hospitality of Colby Lewis make the Mariners our top choice. Seattle Mariners Lewis is a fly-ball pitcher, who doesn't strike people out, twirling in one of the league's most hitter-friendly venues. As a bonus, the Mariners have gobs of moderately priced left-handed sticks. This one doesn't require an algorithm, but if it makes you feel better we've got one and it can confirm everything I just wrote. Nearly every bat in the Seattle lineup is in play today. Toronto Blue Jays Even in a pitcher's haven like Tropicana Field and going against a guy with decent strikeout upside, the Blue Jays can't be ignored when facing a southpaw. No team did more damage against lefties last year, and that was with just a partial season of a marginally effective Troy Tulowitzki....

What We Know Opening Day, Take Two Postponements of yesterday's Astros/Yankees and Red Sox/Indians games means there's a healthy slate of ace-caliber pitchers in Tuesday's day games. Houston will throw reigning Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel against the Yankees, who struggled against lefties last year, while David Price and Corey Kluber will square off in Cleveland. Those arms alone are sufficient to suppress offense, but throw in game-time temps in the 30s and runs could be even tougher to come by. If you're playing the three-game early slate, expect to see the Mets hitters highly owned. Weather Watch Better news: it looks like Mother Nature will cooperate tonight. As of Tuesday morning none of the night games appear to be in danger of delays or postponements, but do keep an eye on the wind patterns. Forecasts are calling for a stiff breeze blowing in at Global Life Park in Arlington, which might make Nelson Cruz slightly less appetizing in a tasty matchup against mediocre lefty Martin Perez. Still waiting on Sonny Oakland ace Sonny Gray was scratched from Monday night's start due to pretty gnarly sounding case of food poisoning. His start hasn't yet been rescheduled yet, but it reportedly won't be tonight, as Chris Bassitt is scheduled to take the hill against the White Sox. Tournament Stacks Detroit Tigers The Detroit lineup is built to exploit soft matchups against lefties and Miami seems ready to oblige in Tuesday's season opener for both teams. Marlins starter Wei-Yin Chen was solid last season, posting a career-best strikeout rate and ERA. Even so, he only strikes out about seven per nine and his xFIP last year was still just north of 4.00, so this isn't a dude we have to dodge. Meanwhile, only the Blue Jays hit left-handed pitching better than the Tigers last year, and Detroit has since added Justin Upton, who struggled against southpaws last season, but has crushed them throughout the rest of...
