What We Know Playing the four-game early slate today could get dicey, as there's a strong chance of rain in St. Louis, and a possibility of precipitation in latter stages of Angels-White Sox tilt. That hinders the attractiveness of two solid pitching options (Carlos Martinez and Chris Sale), but the night slate should offer plenty of opportunities for action with no inclement weather in the forecast for any of the 11 games starting after 6 p.m. Eastern. Personnel Keep an eye on the lineups for these early games, as we're likely to see some regulars get rest in a day game following a night game. It's especially likely at catcher, where Devin Mesoraco will get a break, to be spelled by Tucker Barnhart. In other news: Billy Hamilton is hitting at the top of the order for the Reds today. That always helps, but his inability to reach base consistently makes the speedster little more than a tournament flyer. Zach Cozart, the Reds' regular SS and leadoff hitter is out today. He'll be replaced by Ivan DeJesus, who's hitting eighth. Addison Russell is out for the Cubs. Javier Baez is starting at SS and hitting eighth. Jorge Soler will also take a day off. Kris Bryant is in left, with Tommy LaStella taking over at third and batting sixth. Jeremy Hazelbaker is out for the Cardinals. The 28-year-old rookie has cooled off considerably since his hot start, going 0 for his last 14. Julio Teheran is slated to take the mound tonight against the Dodgers after being scratched yesterday due to illness. He's been much better at home lately, but lefties continue to mash against the erstwhile phenom. Adam Jones left last night's game with a stomach ailment. As of this morning, here's been no update on his availability for tonight's game. Tournament Stacks New York Mets Yeah, I know what you're thinking. Of course, the day after they launched six bombs in...

Daily Fantasy Baseball News and Updates for FanDuel and DraftKings - 4/19/16 Welcome to the daily MLB updates and news article. What We Know The weather looks sketchy for today's only day game (Brewers at Twins), making playing the all-day slate even riskier than usual. There's also a chance Mother Nature could interrupt play in a handful of night games, so keep an eye on the following: Rockies at Reds Astros at Rangers Angels at White Sox Tigers at Royals Cubs at Cardinals None look like rainout possibilities as of this morning, but they do need to be monitored as we approach lineup lock. The good news is we've got a full schedule ahead. Including the aforementioned day game, the 6:10 p.m. Eastern Mariners-Indians tilt won't make it on the main slate at many sites, but 13 other games will. That should provide plenty of opportunities to dig up value and find differentiating plays for your tournament lineups. Personnel Trevor Plouffe has been placed on the 15-day DL. He sat yesterday's game with an intercostal injury and was replaced at third by Eduardo Nunez, who makes an interesting play for the suddenly hot Twins if the weather cooperates today. Nunez is hitting leadoff and is just $2,700 on FanDuel. Domingo Santana is getting the day off for the Brewers today. Colin Walsh is hitting leadoff. Tournament Stacks Toronto Blue Jays The Blue Jays haven't yet been the second coming of Murderer's Row, partly due to their inability to find a reliable lead0ff hitter and Troy Tulowitzki's ongoing struggles. Facing Mike Wright, a below-average K guy who doesn't get grounders, today looks like a good time to get the offense cranked up. Michael Saunders has hit leadoff in each of the last two games, and the Camden Yard's short porch in right will make an inviting target for the lefty. You need a strong stomach to build winning tournament lineups, and if you've got one, both he and Tulo can be had for reasonable prices and could make nice building blocks for any number of stack permutations today....

What We Know The weather is clear all around, and with a day-heavy split slate ahead, the a.m. forecasts are that much more reliable, so go ahead and feel free to choose from any game on the slate. There are some wind patterns that could suppress power in some venues, but notably, not at Coors Field where a nice breeze is expected to be drifting out to right-center. Personnel: Stephen Strasburg could be a risky play if we don't hear something soon. He missed Wednesdsay's start due to a lingering illness, and though the Nats were hopeful he'd be able to take the hill Thursday, there's been no further update. The Braves and Nats are the last game on the early slate with a 4:05 p.m. first pitch, so stay tuned for updates. Buster Posey remained out of the lineup Wednesday night due to a foot injury and there's no word on his status as of this morning. It could be cutting it close, but we should have San Fran's lineup before lock today, so keep an eye out for that. In his absence, Trevor Brown has been crushing. Brown was never much of an offensive factor in the minors, but if he's playing in Coors, he's in play for DFS. He's been added to the player base at FanDuel ($2,800). Lineups are starting to trickle in, but there's been no major news so far; mostly just bottom-of-the-order guys getting the day off. Keep an eye on the catchers, though. We could see a few get a break today with so many day games following night games. We already Pittsburgh's Francisco Cervelli will be getting the day off. Tournament Stacks Colorado Rockies Over the last two days we've hedged our bets and given both sides of this matchup. That remains the safe way to play it today, but we're stepping out and giving the Rockies preference today, because we're pretty enthusiastic about the matchup...

We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there! PITCHER Early slate Jaime Garcia FD 8600 DK 9700 Opponent - MIL (Peralta) Park - @STL FD - 37.2 DK - 20.1 In the coming months, you'll probably see us pick on the Brewers a lot in this column, especially when they leave the hitter-friendly confines of Miller Park. Garcia is more of a pitch-to-contact dude, but free-swinging Milwaukee will boost his upside to some degree, and he's always been a reliable source of innings and ground balls, which gives him a sturdy floor. Add on the fact that he's going heads up with Wily Peralta, and he's got an excellent shot at getting a win (opening line, St. Louis -200). Vincent Velasquez FD 7400 DK 0 Opponent - SD (Pomeranz) Park - @PHI FD - 31.65 DK - 16.96 As I type this, Jared Eickhoff is absolutely carving up the Padres bats to the tune of 9 Ks, 5 hits and no runs in 7 innings. They might as well be swinging toothpicks up there. Now, Eickhoff is no elite prospect, but the eye test tells you he's at least got some decent stuff. Not so for Charlie Morton (4.07 career xFIP), who silenced San Diego in simlar fashion the night before. None of the preceding may have any direct bearing on what happens Thursday, but the point is this: the Padres aren't very good. I probably could've just pointed to the fact that Melvin Upton Jr. is holding down a spot in the middle of their order and achieved the same effect in fewer words. At any rate, Velasquez is an exciting young arm with bit-time strikeout potential, and he's coming in pretty cheap...

What We Know We've got a massive slate ahead with three games this afternoon, 12 tonight, and every MLB team in action. Even better: it's green lights all around on the weather watch. You'll of course want to check back closer to lineup lock for the evening games, but if you're playing an all-day slate, it looks safe to pick and choose from every game on the schedule. Personnel wise, however, there's reason for caution, especially when it comes to catchers. Here's a quick rundown: Brian McCann left last night's game with bruised foot and it looks like he'll be out today. The Yankees backstop is off to a blazing start to 2016 and hit a home run Tuesday night before exiting. If you're ok with punting the position, Austin Romine makes a interesting choice against lefty J.A. Happ in Rogers Center. Buster Posey is also day-to-day after suffering a foot bruise Monday. He sat out last night and watched as his replacement, Trevor Brown, smashed a pair of home runs. Given his price at Coors Field and his uncertain status as of this morning, it might be best to lay off Posey if you're playing all-day contests on a site that doesn't allow late swaps. The Tigers and Pirates, who played in Detroit on Monday and Tuesday, will finish up their four-game split series in Pittsburgh, which probably means no Victor Martinez. Evan Gattis made his season debut Tuesday after being activated from the disabled list, striking out three times in four at bats. Some rust is probably expected for the slugger, who retains catcher eligibility on FanDuel, but the upside is always there and the price is pretty good. Francisco Liriano, who was originally scheduled to start today for the Pirates, has been scratched. He'll be replaced—so to speak—by Ryan Vogelsong. The Mets are sitting a slew of lefties against Marlins southpaw Adam Conley today. Lucas Duda, Michael Conforto and Travis d'Arnaud...
