In the history of DFS, there may have been worse days for pitching, but if so, we've chosen to forget them. There's nary an ace to be found and seven of the nine stadiums hosting games today ranked in the top 10 in home run park factors last season. Just hold your nose, pick a pitcher and stack up your offense, which should be plentiful today. Let's get to it. Personnel Adrian Beltre is out today for the Rangers after leaving last night's game with a hamstring issue. The good news is that his absence frees up a spot for Jurickson Profar, who will play 3B at hit leadoff today. Starling Marte saw action as pinch hitter last night. He's been out of the lineup for the last two games nursing an ankle injury and he's considered day-to-day. Ketel Marte was back in the Mariners lineup last night and delivered two hits, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Neck spasms forced him to miss Tuesday's game after being activated from the DL earlier this week. David Freese missed his second straight game Wednesday due to a hand issue. His status for today's game is unknown as of this morning. Tournament Stacks St. Louis Cardinals First off, we're skipping over the early games, but all four lineups are stackable. We prefer the Pirates, but everybody's expected to go off, so plug and play Rockies, Astros and Rangers at will. Tonight, it gets interesting. Not because there is any less expectation for offense—in fact, it's just the opposite. A dearth of reliable pitching means pretty much every offense on the slate is in play. We've chosen to write up the Cardinals, because they're the chalk play and we wanted to at least acknowledge that. As we've talked about all week, the Great American Ballpark provides a substantial boost to offense, and we're definitely not ducking Brandon Finnegan and...

Daily Fantasy MLB Baseball Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings - 6/9/16 Who's ready to get fired up about Gio Gonzalez? Just kidding. Kinda. A short/split Thursday slate features a buffet of mediocre arms and some of the best hitting parks in the majors, so offense should be bountiful, but finding a reliable arm could be even more vital that usual.   Now’s your chance to get DFSR Pro with MLB Optimal Lineups, Projections and Player Cards. We've got you completely covered. Today DFSR founders Doug Norrie and James Davis broke down the Thursday short slate of games for FanDuel and DraftKings on our daily MLB podcast!     Be sure to subscribe to the DFSR MLB Podcast through iTunes or Stitcher   PITCHER Gio Gonzalez FD 9000 DK 8900 Opponent - CHW (Gonzalez) Park - @CHW FD - 30.7 DK - 15.38 Yesterday we had aces galore. Twenty-four hours later and Gio Gonzalez is our top recommendation at pitcher. So it goes in DFS, especially on a relatively short slate. Gio's numbers look really similar to the same ones he's always put up: ERA and xFIP hovering in the high-to-mid 3s with a solid K rate. But he hasn't been exactly the same dude so far in 2016, and the differences include some good (fewer walks) and some bad (more homers). The home runs are a little tough to figure. He's giving up more hard contact, so maybe it's as simple as that, but he's likely running into so bad luck, as well, and regression is expected. Tonight would be a good time for it to start, because US Cellular Field doesn't do a lot to suppress the long ball and Gonzalez has been scuffling lately. On the other hand, the White Sox strike out a fair amount against southpaws and the Nats are favored. It's not the heartiest recommendation we've ever offered, but the pickings are slim tonight. Jimmy Nelson FD 7800 DK 8700 Opponent - NYM (Colon) Park - @MIL FD - 32.69 DK - 16.54 Ugh. I know. Me too. But this is the kind of pitching slate we're dealing with today, folks. Miller Park is great hitter's park, but most venues hosting MLB action today are too, so it doesn't ding Nelson's value in relation to his colleagues as much as...

What We Know Today's split slate is dominated by strong pitching and intriguing punt plays, but there are plenty of offenses projected to go off as well. We'll start with a four-game on the day shift, followed by an 11-gamer tonight. Let's get to it. Personnel Victor Martinez is getting the day off for the Tigers. Miguel Cabrera will slide to DH, Nick Castellanos is hitting cleanup, and Andrew Romine will play first and hit eighth. Ryan Howard is back in the lineup again today, giving Tommy Joseph a second straight day off. Howard, who homered last night in his return, is hitting fifth. Cameron Maybin is sitting again with a wrist issue. Mike Aviles will play LF and hit second. Devon Travis is getting a breather today. Darwin Barney will man 2B, while Ryan Goins is slotted at SS. Addison Russell is taking the day off. Javier Baez is at SS and hitting eighth today. Albert Almora is getting his first big-league start today for the Cubs. His stock has fallen since being taken sixth overall in the 2012 draft, but he was slashing .318/.335/.444 with 10 steals at Triple-A this season so he could have some value hitting out of the six hole today. Yan Gomes had to be taken to the hospital after taking a foul tip to the groin Tuesday night. He's likely out tonight. Ketel Marte was scratched Tuesday after his neck issues cropped back up, but initial word is that he should be back in the lineup tonight. Looks like Khris Davis could be out again tonight while he deals with numbness in his hand. He hasn't played since getting hitting with a pitch on Sunday, but was available for pinch-hitting duty last night. Danny Valencia sat last night due to illness but could return to the lineup tonight. David Ortiz is expected to sit tonight as the Red Sox deal with the lack of a DH spot while...

What We Know We've a full 15-gamer tonight with gobs of options, especially on the offensive side. As of noon Eastern, the betting markets have 11 teams with a run expectancy of 4.5 or higher, which is unusually high. That should translate into plenty of places to turn in search of DFS value tonight. Let's get to it. Personnel Jhonny Peralta is expected to be activated from the DL today, forcing Kolten Wong back to the minors. The plan is to play Peralta at 3B, Matt Carpenter at 2B and leave Aledmys Diaz at SS. Mariners SS Ketel Marte has been activated from the DL. He went 1-for-3 with a steal and a run scored in his return last night. Jorge Soler was removed from last night's game with a hamstring injury and could require a DL stint. Stay tuned for more news today. David Peralta returned from the DL last night, going 2-for-3 with a homer. He was hitting sixth, but could be moved up if he proves rust-free after a month off. Cheslor Cuthbert left last night's game with an elbow injury. From a DFS perspective, his absence is most meaningful if it assures continued playing time for Whit Merrifield, who slid over from 2B to 3B last night. Tournament Stacks St. Louis Cardinals Hey, if you want to fade the Cards based on John Lamb's inexplicable seven innings of one-run baseball in Coors Field last week, go right ahead. But we still think Lamb is bad, and so do the Cincinnati Reds, apparently. Before opting to send Jon Moscot down to make room for Anthony DeSclafani, they were toying with the idea of removing Lamb or Alfredo Simon from the rotation. As they say, you can learn about a guy from the company he keeps and Lamb has fallen in with the wrong crowd. Despite last week's solid outing, his numbers–both peripherals and surface stats–are still awful. He's striking out less than five per nine, walking nearly...

If you want access to that system so you can cut out a lot of the research element, click the button below! START YOUR FREE TRIAL! What We Know Happy Alfredo Simon Day, everybody! We're going to be picking on the Reds starter a lot today, as pitching on tonight's eight-game slate is going to be cheap (and not very good). Meanwhile, the pitching choice is clear on the three-game early slate, but where to turn for offense is much less clear. It should make for an interesting day of DFS. Let's get to it. Personnel Prospect Julio Urias is getting the start today for the Dodgers with Kenta Maeda pushed back to Friday. Hunter Pence has been placed on the DL with a hamstring injury today. Jarrett Parker has received most of the playing when he's been out this year, and he's in RF and batting seventh today. Gordon Beckham left Wednesday's game with an apparent hamstring issue and is headed for the DL. Chase d'Arnaud took his place and is back in the lineup and hitting second today. Ben Zobrist is getting a day off today. Javier Baez will play 2nd and hit seventh for the Cubs. Derek Dietrich was removed from Wednesday's game after getting hit by a pitch. X-rays came back negative and he's considered day-to-day. Marlon Byrd has been 162 games by Major League Baseball after failing a second PED test. Brandon Phillips sat again on Wednesday with a foot injury. It doesn't sound too serious and he could be back in the middle of the Reds order soon. Ryan Howard will be riding the pine for a few days with Tommy Joseph taking over at first. Phillies manager Pete Mackanin didn't rule out the possibility of Joseph supplanting Howard as the every-day first baseman. Tournament Stacks Colorado Rockies If you read the picks column, you knew this was coming. If you've watched Alfredo Simon ply his trade in the last two years, you knew this was coming. Everybody in the industry will be all over both sides of tonight's game in Coors Field, and that's the...
