Point Guard/ Shooting Guard
Damian Lillard FD - $10400 DK - $10900
Opponent - OKC
Proj Pts FD - 52.55 DK - 57.61
The Blazers sent out Josh Hart and Gary Payton at the deadline leaving the team a little thinner at guard/ wing heading into this game. But they still very much seem like a team that would like to win in the short-term, maybe making the play-in game if possible. Lillard has run major minutes lately, going 40 or more in four of the last five games. In that stretch he’s averaged 34 points, 7.4 assists, and six rebounds. The matchup against the Thunder should be up and down the court and he makes for a high floor option.
Derrick White FD - $6100 DK - $6100
Opponent - CHA
Proj Pts FD - 36.99 DK - 38.47
The Celtics are going to be without Jaylen Brown because of a facial fracture he suffered. This should keep Derrick White running big minutes going forward and we’ve seen him capitalize on the opportunity. He’s averaging 36 minutes a game over the last five scoring 19 points and pulling seven rebounds per game in that stretch. The pricing has creeped up but doesn’t totally reflect the opportunity and this is a great matchup against the Hornets.
Jaden Ivey FD - $5600 DK - $5300
Opponent - SA
Proj Pts FD - 33.02 DK - 36.12
Killian Hayes FD - $6000 DK - $4700
Opponent - SA
Proj Pts FD - 30.84 DK - 32.61
The Pistons get one of the best matchups of the slate facing off against the Spurs. San Antonio has played the sixth-fastest pace in the league and is easily (easily!) the worst defense there is. While Detroit hasn’t wanted to always run their starters major minutes, both Jaden Ivey and Killian Hayes should push around 30 here, making them value looks on DraftKings especially. Again, even with a tanking team without tons of minutes upside, this is just the kind of spot to stack these two.
Collin Sexton FD - $5200 DK - $4000
Opponent - TOR
Proj Pts FD - 27.1 DK - 30.2
The Jazz traded away Mike Conley, Malik Beasley and Jared Vanderbilt around the deadline, opening up a bunch of minutes in the backcourt specifically. Collin Sexton started last game and played 30 minutes in the loss to the Timberwolves. He’s score-first (and kind of only) so the 10 total shots he took in those minutes isn’t exactly encouraging. But the price is still very low on DraftKings and that makes it somewhat easy to run him on the upside. I do think the usage should creep up a bit in this one.
Small Forward
Jayson Tatum FD - $10800 DK - $11200
Opponent - CHA
Proj Pts FD - 57.61 DK - 61.75
Jayson Tatum is in a great spot on Friday with Jaylen Brown out of the Celtics’ lineup who is still missing Marcus Smart. On the season, Tatum has a 32% usage rate that actually climbs all the way to 35.5 with Brown off the court. That’s about as high as you will see in the NBA and puts him fully in line as a cash play even at these elevated prices. Charlotte is a bottom-five defense playing the seventh-fastest pace in the league. The Celtics have a 120 implied total, one of the highest on Friday and they are a team we want to think about stacking.
Jerami Grant FD - $6600 DK - $6700
Opponent - OKC
Proj Pts FD - 37.35 DK - 39.72
The Blazers are down some wings and are still without Jusuf Nurkic on the interior. He’s played 36 or more minutes in each of the last four games but has really struggled from the field and from three. He’s just 4-23 from beyond the arc in his last five games. It’s kept the price down going into a matchup in which he could really take advantage.
Norman Powell (FD 6600 DK 5700) could be a popular play on this slate with the Clippers making some moves at the deadline and Kawhi Leonard sitting out because of rest.
Power Forward/ Center
Mark Williams FD - $4800 DK - $3200
Opponent - BOS
Proj Pts FD - 32.45 DK - 33.03
The Hornets traded Mason Plumlee to the Los Angeles Clippers at the trade deadline and now there will be a new starting center in Charlotte. That should be Mark Williams who we’ve seen pile it one in limited minutes already this season. Per 28 minutes this season, Williams is averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds and that could be the kind of run her gets tonight against the Celtics. It’s likely that he is a major chalk play on Friday on both sites, but especially DraftKings where he’s coming close to the minimum.
Robert Williams III FD - $6100 DK - $6100
Opponent - CHA
Proj Pts FD - 37.95 DK - 38.74
Time Lord is coming off of a 15 point, 15 rebound game last time out against the Pistons. The Celtics are getting a bit back to full strength in the front court with Al Horford set to play this game as well. But Williams still makes for as strong play here, especially on FanDuel where he’s power forward eligible. The blocks can really help him hit some upside and the Hornets get blocked the most in the league this season.
Keep an eye out for who starts at center in San Antonio with Jakob Poeltl on the move to Toronto. It could be Zach Collins (FD 5000 DK 4000) or Isaiah Roby (FD 3600 DK 3000).
Deandre Ayton (FD 8600 DK 8100) is still a strong play with the Suns a bit shorthanded and Kevin Durant not in the mix yet.
