Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Edwin Jackson(WSH)

I lead off with a team that has fallen short of the Playoffs in 2017 but is finishing strong and comes in having won four straight games. They get, in my opinion, the top matchup of the night and should be able to extend that streak to five. The Nats will be throwing Edwin Jackson back to the mound for most likely his final start of the season(including playoffs). It has been a struggle down the stretch as he has allowed 22 earned runs over his last four starts(16 IP) including nine home runs(32% HR/FB rate). Despite the lack of motivation for the Pirates, it would be silly to not take advantage of this terrific situation, especially considering the value pricing they present.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Kyle Hendricks(CHC)

From a team with no playoff motivations to a team that needs all hands on deck plus some help, especially considering the Rockies won last night and the Cards lost. From a stacking perspective, I have not been a huge fan of the Cardinals offense this season but they have been one of the hottest teams in the league down the stretch. Over the last 14 days, they sit with a .327 wOBA, 101 wRC+, and most importantly have a .181 Isolated Power number with 18 home runs. During that time it has been the top of the lineup carrying the offense as five of them have multiple home runs while Fowler and Pham sit with double-digit runs batted in. Tonight they face Kyle Hendricks who has been very consistent this season with a 3.14 ERA but does give up home runs(14.8% HR/FB rate) and the Cubs won't push him tonight as they are locked into their playoff position.
