St. Louis Cardinals vs. Amir Garrett(CIN)
The Cardinals get a great matchup on the four-game early slate and may be a bit over looked with the likes of the Red Sox, Diamondbacks, and Marlins on the same slate. They face off with Amir Garrett who made his return from the minors last Friday but unfortunately for him, nothing changed. He gave up three home runs through four innings and saw his ERA balloon up 7.39 for the season with a ridiculous 28.9% HR/FB rate. Going into Wednesday night the Cardinals had scored 28 runs over their last four games and will need it continue down the stretch to get to the post season.
Top Hitters to Stack: Thomas Pham, Paul Dejong, Jose Martinez, Harrison Bader
Houston Astros vs. Ricky Nolasco(LAA)
On the main slate, I will turn the Astros who also get a top matchup vs. Ricky Nolasco who very well could be the worst pitcher on the slate and possibly the American League. He trails only Rick Porcello and Ariel Miranda by just one home run against(34) this season and has given 37% hard contact(4th worst among qualified starters). We are always looking for multiple home runs from our stacks and this matchup provides that upside as Nolasco has allowed at least one home run in six of his last seven games and the Astros are chalk full of young guns who love swinging for the fence.
Top Hitters to Stack: Alex Bregman, Jose Altuve, George Springer, Carlos Correa
Chicago Cubs vs. Seth Lugo(NYM)
With two weeks left in the regular season, the Cubs won't be laying back as their lead in the NL Central is down to 2.5 games over the Brewers and three games over the Cardinals. The power has fallen off a bit as they have just seven home runs over the last seven days but rank inside the Top 10 when looking at wOBA(.367), wRC+(124), and ISO(.189). Tonight they get a plus matchup vs. Seth Lugo who has been nothing more than just an average arm at the Major League level. No, he doesn't give up a lot of home runs(11% HR/FB rate) but he does really struggle on the road with a 5.75 ERA, almost three runs higher than in Citi Field. With the Indians, Yankees, and Twins likely the chalk tonight the Cubs should come with a nice ownership discount.
Top Hitters to Staack: Ben Zobrist, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Kyle Schwarber
