**Note - The Rockies and Dodgers will definitely be the chalk tonight in Coors Field and both make great options vs. left-handed pitchers. I am going to dig a bit deeper and give you a couple other viable stacking options for tonight's main slate.**
CHICAGO WHITE SOX
While I would much rather stack the White Sox vs. a left-handed pitcher, I will take my chance against Phil Hughes who is one of the worst pitchers on the entire slate. While he has suppressed the home runs(9.3% HR/FB rate) early in the season, regression is right around the corner as he is allowing a crazy high 43.6% hard contact rate and generating just a 5.6% swinging strike rate. He has also lost a full MPH on his fastball and 2 MPH on his changeup. Once hitters adjust to the increase in changeups, look out in the stands as the balls will start flying out of the park, as early as tonight. As a team, the White Sox rank dead last vs. right-handed pitching which combined with the game in Coors should help their ownership stay in the sub 10% range. Build your White Sox core around Avisail Garcia and Jose Abreu who both come into tonight with a wOBA over.330 and wRC+ over 114 against righties.
Cincinnati Reds
While I don't like the park at all in San Fran(AT&T Park), I absolutely love the Reds vs. left-handed pitching. They rank third overall in wOBA(.350) and sixth in wRC+(110) vs. southpaws with a very high .235 isolated power number(2nd behind Nationals). On top of that, they get an elite matchup vs. Ty Blach is coming off an ugly outing vs. these very Reds where he gave up eight earned runs(2 home runs) while not striking out one batter in three innings. This came after two impressive starts where he allowed just seven hits and two earned runs in 12 innings. While I don't think he is as bad as his last start, I do feel he is closer to that than the two good starts before that. He has an underwhelming 90 MPH fastball that he relies on 60% of the time that only generates a 2.9% swing and miss rate. The Reds have also ben red hot lately ranking third overall in wOBA(.399) and have a team slash line of .340/.408/.526 over the past seven days. The Reds also have four starters(Votto, Suarez, Cozart, Duvall) who all come into tonight with a wOBA great than .400 vs. left-handed pitching. It is very possible we see some water shots in McCovey Cove tonight. If you are in the San Fran area, rent a boat and get out there!
