Daily Fantasy Football Wide Receiver and Tight Ends Values for FanDuel and DraftKings - Week 5  10/9/16

We covered our main cash game plays in our Week 5 Picks where we touched on Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Odell Beckham, Julian Edelman and Terrelle Pryor. For this piece we will touch on some of the cheaper targets you can use for salary relief and/ or GPP upside.

No Eric Decker for the Jets means a heavy dose of these two guys. Marshall doesn't necessarily qualify as a "cheap" value play all things considered but I do think you're getting great points/$ on his salary. Last week against Richard Sherman he went 4/89/1 on 12 targets. Force-feeding him the ball in that suboptimal matchup is a pretty clear sign of what the Jets intend to do going forward and he has a much better matchup this week against the Steelers. Marshall actually ranks second in the league with Red Zone targets this season (7) and that really helps his touchdown expectation going forward.

Plus if you figure the Jets are playing from behind in this one (they're +7 dogs) Enunwa is still a relative value even with the price climb. He's seen steady production this year, coming in second on the team in targets (averaging 8 per game) good for a 23/243/1 line on the season.

With Kevin White now on the shelf for the foreseeable future, the Bears are without their far-and-away target leader. White had 25% of the teams passing targets this year and no one else was really even close. If nothing else, that’s going to mean quite a bit of volume to go around. Eddie Royal was next man up last week with 7 targets for a 7/111/1 line which ended up as one of the best value plays on the week. He should be in line for similar looks this week even if the yards and conversions were likely a little run hot.

Meanwhile Alshon Jeffery has been a forgotten man this year and it’s tough to say how much is scheme, coverage, injury or all of the above. He’s clearly taken a tumble in terms of production and the targets (6 per game) just aren’t there. But the Bears need to throw somewhere this week against a Colt defense ranked 29th in DVOA against the pass. For all of Jeffery’s struggles, the price has barely moved which makes him less of a value and more of just a GPP play. But if you think he rounds back into form I don’t mind the pivot from other WRs in his price tier for a contrarian look.

And finally, Miller is getting the looks both in the red zone and the short term passing game. He didn’t see a heavy workload in Week 4 but I suspect you see an uptick for him here as well.

Through the first four weeks of the season Robert Woods leads the Bills in targets and that’s likely to continue going forward. Sammy Watkins isn’t coming back any time soon and wasn’t doing much anyway. But Woods has been quietly productive in the possession game over the last couple of weeks averaging a 7/64. For PPR purposes on DraftKings I love the sub $4000 price tag.

Meanwhile Clay ranks second on the team in targets even after getting shut out in Week 3. That’s a concern of course and makes him likely too risky for cash games, but he’s coming nearly free on DraftKings. And finally, Goodwin is somewhat of a big play threat. He has 15 targets this year but has only converted four them. That’s beyond bad of course, but his one big strikes was an 84 yard touchdown pass. He’s simply a tournament option as well.
