A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!
Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.
Stack Targets
Texas Rangers vs. Matt Garza (Brewers)
Park - Globe Life Park in Arlington
The Rangers are going to enter the night as our top stack of the slate. They are at home, taking on Matt Garza and the Milwaukee Brewers. Garza has been atrocious against both righties and lefties on the season and while his wOBA hasn't been atrocious, his underlying peripherals suggest he is horrible. He is beyond washed up at this point and the Rangers should be able to take advantage of him with ease. The game will be played in Globe Life Park, which is one of the better parks in the league for right handed and left handed power. The Rangers have an explosive lineup that consists of both powerful left handed and right handed hitters. Rougned Odor and Ian Desmond are my 2 favorite bats, with Mitch Moreland and Adrian Beltre coming in after that. The Rangers will likely be highly owned, so I definitely see the merit in using a sneaky stack. On FanDuel, I would go with a home run heavy stack and on DraftKings, I would go with a more efficient stack.
Main Stack - Ian Desmond, Carlos Beltran, Rougned Odor, Jonathan Lucroy
Sneaky Stack - Carlos Gomez, Rougned Odor, Adrian Beltre, Mitch Moreland
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Martin Perez (Rangers)
Park - Globe Life Park in Arlington
We are going to look at the other side of things here with the Milwaukee Brewers. The brewers are on the road in Texas to take on the Rangers. The Rangers will be trotting out Martin Perez. Perez is a veteran left hander that has struggled mightily against right handers on the season. The Milwaukee Brewers entire lineup is filled with right handers and most of them have power. Ryan Braun and Chris Carter will be in every Brewers stack, and I will then sprinkle in the rest of the guys. So far in 2016, the Brewers have ranked 10th in the league against lefties with .317 wOBA alongside some very nice peripherals and batted ball rates. As mentioned, the ballpark is spectacular and will only help with the power. Globe Life Park ranked in the top 5 for right handed power in 2015, and is on track to repeat in 2016. While I don't expect the Brewers to be highly owned, I think there is merit in using the sneaky stack because the production in this offense can be very spread out at times.
Main Stack - Ryan Braun, Chris Carter, Orlando Arcia, Jonathan Villar
Sneaky Stack - Ryan Braun, Domingo Santana, Hernan Perez, Chris Carter
