Pitching Targets
Drew Smyly FD 7500 DK 7000
Opponent - NYY (Pineda) Park - @TB
FD - 31.11 DK - 20.58
We touched on Jose Fernandez and Michael Pineda in the main picks article, and will now touch on a few guys to consider in cash games and/or tournaments. Drew Smyly is going to be the first guy we take a look at. He is facing off with the New York Yankees, a team that is pretty mediocre against left handers. In nearly 2300 at-bats, the Yankees have sported the 10th worst wOBA in the league with a .307 wOBA. Smyly n the other hand, has sported a .326 combined wOBA that is backed up by very strong peripherals and batted ball rates. The game will take place in Tropicana Field, which is a top 10 park in the league for pitchers. The only issue here is the fact that he is facing ff with Micheal Pineda and the win might be a little difficult. For that reason, I prefer him on DraftKings and in tournaments. I am going to have a ton of Smyly on DraftKings, as his price is low and the win is not important. While he is not as high as Fernandez or Pineda on my list, he is a close 3rd.
Archie Bradley FD 6400 DK 7400
Opponent - SD (Clemens) Park - @SD
FD - 30.4 DK - 20.16
If you want a guy in tournaments that has a ton of upside and comes in at a low price, Archie Bradley is your guy. Bradley is actually a pretty good pitcher, even though he is perceived by the public as a bad pitcher. He has sported a .298 wOBA against right handers, which is backed up by a 28.7% hard contact rate and a 6.4% BB rate. He is taking on the well known worst team in the league against righties, the San Diego Padres. The Padres have had one of the worst seasons all time against righties and currently hold a .286 wOBA. Alongside the wOBA they are top 10 in strikeouts and bottom 10 in walks. The game is also being played in Petco Park, which is one of the best parks in the league for pitchers. On FanDuel, Bradley is only $6400 and he is a fantastic play in both cash games and tournaments. I am confident that he will get the win as Paul Clemens is on the other side and will have trouble with the Diamondbacks lineup. Though I prefer him on FD, Bradley can be used in any format on any site.
