Pitching Targets
Jason Hammel FD 8400 DK 7700
Opponent - CIN (Straily) Park - @CHC
FD - 35.19 DK - 21.72
We touched on Clayton Kershaw and Noah Syndergaard in the main article, and will now touch on some cheaper guys that can be considered in cash games and/or tournaments. Hammel and the Cubs are facing off with the Cincinnati Reds, a team that struggled mightily on the road. Dating back to the start of the season, the Reds have sported the 25th worst wOBA in the league on the road. Outside of Joey Votto and Adam Duvall, the Reds lack power and have trouble stringing together hits. Hammel on the other hand hand, has been pretty consistent and has a good track record in Wrigley Field. All of that being said, the wind scares me a bit. It is currently at 10 MPH, which I am fine with, but if it gets any higher, I would restrict Hammel exposure to just tournaments. He is cheaper on DraftKings, which is very rare, so take advantage and get the bulk of your exposure on DK. While I definitely prefer Syndergaard and Kershaw, Hammel is a close 3rd with price considered.
Rick Porcello FD 9600 DK 9700
Opponent - BAL (Bundy) Park - @BAL
FD - 32.28 DK - 21.24
I know the peripherals tell us its a lie, and I know that it probably is. Rick Porcello is definitely getting lucky, but I am willing to hop on the train in tournaments. He is taking on a team in the Baltimore Orioles that strikeout a ton and can go cold for long stretches of time. With that upside, comes a huge downside. Camden Yards is one of the best parks in the league for homers, especially for righties. That being said, they can't hit a homer if they can't hit it. Porcello has been ecellent against both lefties and righties, though he has a distinct advantage over right handers. While his .271 BABIP and 4.9% HR/FB rate suggest regression, his xFIP and SIERA suggest he is only getting only a tad bit unlucky. While he is far from my top 3 pitchers, he is a guy I will have some exposure to in tournaments.
