Pitching Targets

Drew PomeranzDrew Pomeranz FD 9100 DK 10100
Opponent - BAL (Bundy) Park - @BOS
FD - 34.01 DK - 22.08

We took a look at Marcus Stroman and Robbie Ray in the main picks article, and those guys are definitely my favorite options in both cash games and tournaments. That being said, there are some other options that we can consider, and we are going to take a look at those guys now. The first guy we are gonna look at is Drew Pomeranz. Pomeranz and the Sox are taking on the Orioles, a team that is going to struggle here against Pomeranz. While the Orioles are a very good hitting team, they strikeout a ton and go cold on frequent occasion. Pomeranz has been fantastic against both lefties and righties with a .277 wOBA that is backed up by numerous peripherals and batted ball rates. While he is very expensive on both sites, he brings a ton of upside and that is something you will need to take down a tournament tonight. I also expect him to get an easy win as the Red Sox are expected to score over 5 runs against Dylan Bundy.

Danny DuffyDanny Duffy FD 9600 DK 10300
Opponent - OAK (Cotton) Park - @KC
FD - 33.89 DK - 22.37

Danny Duffy, like Pomeranz, is a left handed hard thrower that has been absolutely fantastic against both right handers and lefties. He has held a combined wOBA of .250, with a .201 wOBA against lefties. While Oakland is much better against lefties, they are still not very good. The Athletics have struck out 22.4% of the time, and the peripherals and batted ball rates back it up. Duffy has also upped his strikeout rate from last year and now strikes out almost 1 batter per inning. Duffy is another guy that is very expensive, and brings a ton of upside. There is no reason to play him in cash games, but in tournaments, there is a ton of merit. I do prefer him on FanDuel as I expect the Royals to get the win, and that is how a pitcher can really reach the ceiling.
