Quarterback
Zach Collaros Hamilton 11,600
You are going to have to pay a pretty dollar for Zach each and every week but he looks like he has super powers since he came back from injury 4 games ago. Everyone and their ancestors will be picking him this week but he's a must play in cash games. If you fade him you will regret it. Listen to these stats through 4 games... 14 TD's vs 2 interceptions, 1510 passing yards, and an average of 33.8 dk points per game. He has unlimited weapons to throw to and he faces the Argos again who he tore apart last week for 359 yards and 4 TD's. Done deal. Moving on.
Darian Durant Saskatchewan 8800
Since Collaros will be very highly owned this week, I love double D for a few of my tournament lineups to get away from the masses incase somehow something happens with Hamilton's stud QB. Saskatchewan isn't good, but the rivalry games between the Bombers and the Riders always brings out the best in both teams. Winnipeg has a good football team but their pass D is leaky as it is the worst in the league by allowing 42 pass attempts and 337 yards per game. The Riders suck at running the ball but are actually half decent through the air and they rank 1st in the league in passing attempts per game with 39. Durant finally ended his 4 game drought without having passed for a TD by chucking one last week against the Bombers, and he scored 32.3 dk points. He should be able to pass for a couple more this week in Winnipeg. The Bombers are favoured by 7.5 points so Durant should be trigger happy all game. I like pairing him with two of his wr's this week and it could help take a down a tourney or two.
Running Back
Jerome Messam Calgary 8200
I do not like paying this price for a running back but like Collaros, he is a very dangerous fade this week. There is plenty of value at the WR position as I will get to shortly. Messam is simply on his own level, so he is a guaranteed lock in all of my cash game lineups and most tourney lineups. He demolished the Eskimos last week for 36.9 dk points and faces them again this week. Edmonton's rush D can't seem to be able to stop a beach ball coming at them lately. He has 8 total TD's on the year and he could double that total before the end of the year. I'm not even going to continue to bore you with more stats. Just trust me get him into your lineups this week.
C.J. Gable Hamilton 5100
As of this writing, news just came in that the Argo's starting QB Ricky Ray is out for the season with a badly bruised lung. Ouch!!! That adds a little more value to Gable this week because Hamilton could turn this game into a blowout and lean on their rushing attack in the 4th quarter. But I'm still not sold from a safety perspective. Sure he scored 22.1 dk points last week, but he only rushed the ball 12 times to get his 135 yards and the Ti-cats have too many weapons to count on him in the passing game. He is very inconsistent but I do like his upside this week, and at this price he makes a great tourney play to get away from Messam and his massive following. Even using him as a flex play paired with Messam makes sense to me in a few lineups also.
Wide Receiver
Almost the entire Hamilton receiving corps. Listed from highest salary to lowest.
Luke Tasker 9400 Terrance Toliver 8100 Chad Owens 7100 Andy Fantuz 6700 Brandon Banks 6600
What makes you think I like Hamilton this week? Actually the order these guys are in also double as who I like best to worst except I like Banks more than Fantuz because Banks is a return yardage machine. I am not going to use stats for these guys this week because it will take too long and the best two, Tasker and Toliver have been in my column on a week to week basis. I will simply tell you who my favourite and least favourite guys are and how I plan on using them. Tasker is my favourite cash game play this week paired with his QB and it isn't even close. His floor is extremely high and has upside to boot. If you need to save some salary then Toliver can be used in cash games although he is more TD dependent than Tasker. He has a ton of upside every week so he makes for an excellent tournament play. Chad Owens is going back to Toronto where he played for many years and he has the big play ability to wreak major havoc on the Argos. He is inconsistent though and there are so many other good options at Collaros' disposal. He did score a TD last week and dropped another one in the Endzone so paired with Toliver he makes a good tourney option this week. Banks is the primary returner for the Ti-Cats and he does play some offensive snaps but is usually a decoy. Because of his potential to return a kick or punt to the house every time he touches the ball, and the possibility of catching a long pass or three, he makes for a good option in larger tourneys. Fantuz is my least favourite option but because he plays in Hamilton and he's on the field for almost every play, he can get loose now and again and offers upside. He will be very low owned and can be used in the largest tourneys this week.
Caleb Holley Saskatchewan 5000
This is my favourite points per dollar pick this week. His price has sky rocketed up $1300 dollars from last week but it is still way too cheap and we need to take advantage of it for as long as we can. He offers the safety and upside needed for every single format this week. He was promoted to the starting lineup 3 games ago and had two decent games, and then last week he exploded with 10 catches for 121 yards and 1 td for 33 dk points vs the Bombers. He will get another crack at Winnipeg's leaky league worst Pass D this week and he needs to be in every one of your lineups.
Quincy McDuffie Winnipeg 4900
I was reading a few so called experts opinions this week and a couple of them said that McDuffie will be a bust this week because of the return of one of the Bombers' top WR's Ryan Smith. Well I strongly disagree. I just looked at the depth chart for tomorrow's game and Winnipeg demoted Clarence Denmark and McDuffie is still starting at the right slot back position which is great news from a fantasy perspective. Last week he was highly involved in the passing game by going off with 7 catches for 153 yards and a TD. The thing that adds safety to McDuffie is that he is the team's primary kick/punt returner. He will be highly owned after last week but I will be using him as one of my flex plays in cash game lineups.
Davaris Daniels Calgary 4300
Anthony Parker Calgary 5000
Calgary is a tough team to employ players in daily fantasy lineups aside from Messam, because of them spreading the ball around from week to week. With that being said though Daniels sees a handful of targets every week and offers a fairly high floor so he makes a decent lower end flex option to save on salary. Parker on the other hand is a big play threat and offers good upside but has a very low floor. If you Like the Stampeders this week then he is a decent tourney play as he will be low owned.
Defence/Special Teams
Hamilton Tiger-Cats 5000
This is an easy choice with the news that Argo's QB Ricky Ray is not playing. They surrendered 30 points to Toronto last week but they still managed to score 12 dk points. They will be after whoever is playing at QB early and often and they will be the only Defence I will be playing this week. I love them even in tourneys because Winnipeg should be a popular choice, but the Riders are always a tough opponent for them. Oh and The Ti-Cats have Brandon Banks returning punts and kicks. Done deal.
Good luck this weekend everyone and please feel free to post a comment below at any time.
