A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!

Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Chicago Cubs vs. Wily Peralta (Brewers)
Park - Miller Park

The Chicago Cubs are going to be our top stack of the night, and this is one of my favorite stacks of the entire season. The Brewers are tossing out Wily Peralta, who is arguably the worst pitcher on the slate. Against righties, Peralta has given up a a horrible .384 wOBA that is backed up by a 35.5% hard contact rate. Against left handers, it is more of the same as he has shown off a .388 wOBA that is held up by the same peripherals. Wily Peralta is also very homer prone, and has already given up 16 homers this year in less than 100 combined innings. The Cubs have dominated right handed pitching in 2016, as evident by their .327 wOBA and .165 ISO. The only problem we may have is the high ownership. To get around that, I am going to throw some sneaky Cubs stacks out there, with guys that are lower in the lineup and will therefore be lesser owned.

Main Stack - Dexter Fowler, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Addison Russell

Sneaky Stack - Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Jason Heyward, Willson Contreras

Washington Nationals vs. Williams Perez (Braves)

The Nationals are going to be our 2nd favorite stack of the evening and while I don't love them as much as the Cubs, they are still in a very good spot. They will be taking on Williams Perez, who similar to Peralta, struggles against both lefties and righties. Against lefties in particular, Perez has given up a .360 wOBA dating back to 2015.  Aside from the poor wOBA, Perez also sported some horrible peripherals and batted ball rates. The Nationals  on the other hand, have been pretty good against righties with a .319 wOBA and a league high 34.2% hard contact rate. The game will take place in Nationals Park, which shouldn't factor in to much as it is one of the more neutral parks in the league. I do prefer the left handers over the righties in the lineup, as Perez definitely struggles more-so against them. I do see the merit of using a neaky stack as there is a ton of production that comes from the bottom of the lineup.

Main Stack - Daniel Murphy, Bryce Harper, Jayson Werth, Wilson Ramos

Sneaky Stack - Daniel Murphy, Bryce Harper, Ryan Zimmerman, Danny Espinosa

New York Mets vs. Brandon Finnegan (Reds)

The Mets are going to be my top sneaky stack on the day, and I absolutely love the upside in this match up. Brandon Finnegan is actually a decent pitcher, but is on e of the worst in terms of home run production. Finnegan has given up the most homers to righties in the league, and has held that title for quite a while now. While the Mets aren't a team that mashes lefties, they have some power bats and I could see them taking advantage of here. They will also be playing this game in the great American Ballpark, which is a humongous upgrade from Citi Field. I do not see the merit of using a sneaky stack here as the optimal players will not be too highly owned.

Main Stack - Yoenis Cespedes, Jose Reyes, Jay Bruce, Wilmer Flores

  1. I just can’t see Kris Bryant going 0 for 5 again tonight…. to see Davies keep him in check was baffling to me.
