A quick heads up - we post an updates article every day in the early afternoon, EST, to catch everyone up on how things are changing as a result of whatever news has come through. We also have great talks in the comments of that article. Hope to see you there!
Stacking in DFS MLB is such an important concept if you’re looking to take down a big tournament on FanDuel or DraftKings. It’s also a good way to diversify cash games because the variance in baseball can mean wild swings (ahem) in the scoring on a particular slate. The concept is easy. You want to pile players from one or two teams into your lineups because those guys compound scores by helping each other score runs when the going is good.

Stack Targets

Cleveland Indians vs. C.C. Sabathia
Park - Yankees Stadium

On the early slate, there are no offenses that are in prime spots to produce. That being said, the Indians are in the best spot of them all. They take on C.C. Sabathia, who is finally receiving the regression that has been waiting for him. Over his last 8 games, he has given up 5 or more runs in 5 of them, with the other 3 games topping 3 runs each. The Indians will look to take advantage of Sabathia with their left handed bats, though I am not against the lefties either as I expect the bullpen to take over early. Due to this stack being insanely high owned on the early slate, i think it is a great option to go with a contrarian stack that consists of some guys that are lower in the order which will result in them being lower owned.

Main Stack - Rajai Davis, Francisco Lindor, Mike Napoli, Jason Kipnis

Sneaky Stack - Rajai Davis, Carlos Santana, Jose Ramirez, Brandon Guyer

Baltimore Orioles vs. Carlos Rodon
Park - U.S. Cellular Field

The Orioles come in as my favorite stack of the night and it is not too close, outside of Coors Field. The Orioles are taking on Carlos Rodon, a southpaw that has been absolutely brutal against right handed batters. In 75.2 innings, Rodon has sported a .382 wOBA that is supported by 16 home runs allowed and a 21% line drive rate against righties. The Orioles on the other hand, have a few power bats that are going to have a huge advantage here against Rodon. While the Orioles are moving out of Camden yards, this actually becomes an upgrade. They will be moving into another hitter friendly park and they will now receive 9 guaranteed innings of batting, which will be very important to you when you are 8 points behind first in the 8th innings. There is definitely a case to be made for a sneaky stack here as the Orioles production is far from concentrated to only a few different players.

Main Stack - Manny Machado, Chris Davis, Mark Trumbo, Steve Pearce

Sneaky Stack - Adam Jones, Mark Trumbo, Steve Pearce, J.J. Hardy

Detroit Tigers vs. Logan Verrett
Park - Comerica Park

The Detroit Tigers have the highest projected run total outside of Coors Field and that is due to a few huge factors. The first of which being the match up. The Tigers are taking on Logan Verrett,a right handed gas can that has horrible peripherals and is expected to get blown up by both sides of the plate until he fixes his arsenal and control. While the Tigers have disappointing a bit recently, they have started to turn it around recently and I see them making a big splash tonight. While I don't think the Tigers will be too high owned, there is always a case to be made for a sneaky stack in large field tournaments. The reason for that is because even though stacks are high variance, when you put in guys that are lower owned, you distance yourself even further from the field. This is not a strategy you should ever consider in cash games or even small field tournaments.

Main Stack - Ian Kinsler, Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, J.D. Martinez

Sneaky Stack - Cameron Maybin, Miguel Cabrera, Nick Castellanos, Justin Upton
