Pitching Targets
Note: We discussed Archie Bradley and Kyle Hendricks in the Main Article. And will be going over a few more options below.
Danny Salazar FD 10600 DK 11200
Opponent - DET (Norris) Park - @CLE
FD - 34.62 DK - 23.03
Looking for some upside? Then look no further -- Danny Salazar is your guy!
Salazar has been great this season for the Tribe. He is coming into this contest sporting a 2.22 ERA that is backed up by a 3.13 FIP. I know he isn't talked about much around the league, but this kid is good. His ERA and FIP are very attractive, but what sticks out to me is his K%. He owns a 28.5 K%, so we all know what that means -- UPSIDE!
It's never easy to go against the Tigers, but I love the matchup for Salazar. Yes, the Tigers are one of the best teams in the league against right-handed pitchers (9th in MLB in wOBA), but they also strikeout a ton. They own a 22.4 K% (9th in MLB), which is why I love Salazar. Sure this matchup has some risk, but he has the highest ceiling on the night and he's been one of the most dominant pitchers in the game today.
Carlos Martinez FD 8900 DK 8900
Opponent - PIT (Niese) Park - @STL
FD - 34.8 DK - 22.75
Carlos Martinez against the Pirates? That doesn't sound too appealing when you first hear it, but there is a lot to like when you dig deeper.
First and foremost, you have to love his price tag. 8K on both sites is just a thing of beauty. He will allow you to pay up for those big bats that you love on today's slate. Not only is his price tag very appealing, but so is the Vegas line. Anytime you can roster in a pitcher that is a -180 favorite and is under 10K, it makes your life a whole lot easier. Wins are very valuable in DFS, so going with Baby Pedro is the best way to go if you're chasing a W. Plus, we all know how dominant he can be when he is on his A-game.
Jerad Eickhoff FD 8400 DK 8400
Opponent - ATL (de la Cruz) Park - @PHI
FD - 30.82 DK - 20.39
Don't love Carlos Martinez? Then go with Jerad Eickhoff. He will be going up against the Atlanta Braves today, which provides him with a great matchup.
On the year, the Braves own a .285 wOBA (29th in MLB), 75 wRC+ (30th in MLB) and .112 ISO (30th in MLB) against right-handed pitchers. They have had a whole lot of trouble on offense as you can see, so don't be afraid of rostering Eickhoff. I know he plays for the Phillies, but he's actually been a solid pitcher this season. He owns a 3.38 ERA that is backed up by a 3.94 FIP. He isn't anything out of this world and doesn't have a whole lot of upside (20.7 K%), but if you're looking for someone will deliver a quality start and that is under 9K, then look no further.
So yeah, baseball season! And we've got some goodies you can take with you. At the end of the post, we have our MLB eBook that you really ought to check out before setting even a single daily fantasy MLB lineup. It's free, below.

No Matt Harvey love?
Not from me. Half the year has gone by and has not shown me any reason why to continue to roster him. He is cheap, but won’t have him in my lineups.
I’m going to have to roll a few line-ups with Harvey. Too damn good to not turn it around… 🙂
How’d those Harvey lineups turn out? This isn’t a fluke, Harvey is not good right now. Don’t be the guy who is trying to guess when he’ll snap out of it.
bradley or urias for pitching at 9’o clock games
