Upper Tier
Malcolm Brogdon
FD - 9000 DK - 7900
My favorite high priced guy from a PPD standpoint has to be Malcolm Brogdon. The senior guard from Virginia has been great this season, and he’s been hot as of late, scoring over 30 FD points in 6 of his last 7 games. This includes a matchup against UNC in which Brogdon put up 42.7 FD points, his highest output of the season. I think that his price hasn’t quite caught up to his production yet, so I’m buying Brogdon everywhere. Now this isn’t saying that any of the guys priced above 10k are going to have bad games or anything, but they have to have exceptional games to reach the value that a guy like Brogdon needs to hit value.
Dedric Lawson
FD - 9700 DK -
A little more expensive than Brogdon, but Lawson from Memphis does have a terrific matchup and some absolutely huge upside in this one. Tulane does not have a single guy on their roster who can matchup with Lawson physically, and it showed in their last matchup in which Lawson dropped 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to go along with 4 blocks/steals. He’s been an absolute fantasy beast this season, scoring over 30 FD points in 9 of his last 10 games, and I don’t see any reason for that trend to come to a stop in this one. He's not available on DraftKings in this one, but I love his upside on FanDuel even at these high prices.
A.J Hammons
FD - 8500 DK - 8000
A little bit of an off-beat pick here for a tournament is A.J Hammons out of Purdue. This senior forward has been a strong presence inside all year for the Boilermakers, averaging 14 points, 7 rebounds, and an astonishing 2.5 blocks per game on the season. I love the matchup with a tired, undersized Michigan team that is about to play their 3rd game in 3 days (the other two were absolute nail biters, adding to their fatigue level). I think Hammons has a big game here.
Middle Tier
Antonio Blakeney
FD - 7000 DK - 6200
Here's what I wrote about Blakeney yesterday, and since he's still in line to get 40 minutes in this one I'm playing him pretty much everywhere.
My favorite mid-priced guy on the slate is LSU’s number two option, Antonio Blakeney. He’s a guy who’s been getting a ton of usage and minutes ever since Keith Hornsby got injured, and his price tag has gone up, but not enough to reflect his value. Since Hornsby went down, he’s averaging over 22 ppg, and has hit at least x3 value in every game. Tennessee doesn’t have a very stout defense, and should be a little fatigued since they played yesterday so I like Blakeney in all formats today, and especially on DraftKings.
Jaylen Bond
FD - 7200 DK - 6600
Again, this is what I wrote about Bond yesterday, and it holds true again today except I love the matchup against a tired Uconn team that should have nothing left after that sensational game yesterday. Also I love him in this one (as opposed to what I wrote yesterday), and will have him in all my lineups.
I don’t love Jaylen Bond because he can be inconsistent at times, but I feel like I have to at least mention him given his upside potential. His inconsistency has kept his price relatively low, but if you can catch him on a good day he pays, big time. Over his last ten games, he’s got 5 games where he’s payed higher than x4 on FanDuel (which is incredibly good value for CBB). I like the matchup against a weak South Florida team, and considering Bond went for 18 points and 14 rebounds against them in their last meeting, I think he’s going to have a big game today.
Khadeem Carrington
FD - 7000 DK - 5900
This one's a bit more risky than the other two because Carrington's value relies heavily on scoring, but he's been producing in that department as of late, scoring over 17 points in each of his last 4 games. Seton Hall has been relying on this guy to score the basketball, and he's been responding in the tournament as well, scoring 25 ppg in his last two. I know Villanova is a great team, but I think that they'll focus most of their attention on Carrington's backcourt mate Whitehead, which should leave Carrington plenty of opportunities to carry the team. He's more of a tournament play for me, but I could definitely see him having a big game here.
Lower Tier
Wayne Selden Jr.
FD - 5200 DK - 6400
Selden has had an up and down senior season, but he's always managed to step up big when Kansas really needs him to. I think this is one of those scenarios where West Virginia is going to be putting extreme pressure on Frank Mason and Devonte Graham, leaving Selden with an opportunity to do some damage. Because of his inconsistency, his price tag has remained relatively low, but make no mistake, this guy has the ability to have a big game on any given day. I think that day is today, and I'm expecting Selden to reach x4 value in this one. I like him way more on FD, but I can stomach him on DraftKings as well.
Isaiah Wilkins
FD - 4700 DK - 4700
I really like Wilkins from a PPD perspective in this matchup with UNC. For a near minimum price, you get a guy who plays minutes in the upper 20's who can collect fantasy value from areas other than scoring. He has a knack for getting offensive rebounds, and against a big team like UNC, Virginia is really going to need this guy to get to the glass today. He's another guy who's had inconsistency problems this year, but when he gets his minutes, he almost always produces x4 value. I've got Wilkins in all of my lineups today.
