Quarterbacks

Lamar Jackson FD 8800 DK 7700
Opponent LV
Proj Points FD - 23.38 DK - 23.38

It doesn’t always make sense to pay all the way up for quarterback on these cash slates, but here it might, considering the crazy floor you are getting on Lamar Jackson. The Ravens are -8.5 favorites at home against the Raiders and should have no problem moving the ball at all. Jackson is coming off throwing the ball 41 times and running it a crazy 16 times in Week 1. Sure, that was a shootout against the Chiefs, but the usage is nuts, and few other QBs in the league are going to get this kind of volume + trust.

Justin Fields FD 7000 DK 5400
Opponent DEN
Proj Points FD - 20.52 DK - 20.52

Oh baby, ready to go back to this well? We ended up playing a $5K Justin Fields in cash in Week after he was announced the starter for the injured Russell Wilson. It was a punt play for sure, built on the back of his running ability, not his overall quarterback play. Willing to go back to the well in Week 2 at this DraftKings price.

The dude ran 14 times for 57 yards, and there’s a lot of safety in that number alone. Plus, he completed 74% of his passes (17/23), though he got only 156 yards out of it. Overall, I think we can play him in cash again even if it doesn’t feel amazing.

Running Back

Jordan Mason FD 5500 DK 5200
Opponent MIN
Proj Points FD - 15.35 DK - 16.59

Christian McCaffrey is going to sit out Week 2 after being a late scratch heading into Monday night’s game against the Jets. It was something of a surprise (though not to San Fran, who knew on Friday), and Jordan Mason got the full (and I mean full) workload. The latter carried the ball an insane 28 times in the win, totaling 147 yards on the ground with a touchdown.

He was a bell cow and even though the passing game work wasn’t there, the dude still played 81% of the offensive snaps. The price didn’t come close to correcting for the role going into this week.

Breece Hall FD 8500 DK 7400
Opponent TEN
Proj Points FD - 22.02 DK - 24.62

Breece Hall tied for the 7th-best total usage in Week 1, finishing for 16 carries and six targets in the Jets loss to the 49ers. He’ll get a softer landing this time around against the Titans, though it should be said that Tennessee allowed just 3.8 yards per carry to the Bears on Sunday. But Hall was good for 82% of the snaps last week and features in every element of the offense.

There’s a reason he was being talked about going #1 overall in drafts over CMC (even if it was a bit rare). Guy is a stud and this is another good spot.

Isiah Pacheco FD 7400 DK 6900
Opponent CIN
Proj Points FD - 16.82 DK - 18.42

Isiah Pacheco totaled 18 touches (15 carries, 3 targets) in Week one for 88 total yards and a touchdown against the Ravens. And it was also super encouraging that he played 80% of the Chiefs snaps in a close game. Now, KC comes in at -5.5 home favorites against the Bengals who just allowed 170 yards on the ground to the New England Patriots in Week 1. Every reasonable RB metric lines up for Pacheco as a cash game play.

Also, consider Kyren Williams, who played 91% of the Rams snaps in Week 1 and is coming a bit cheaper than Breece Hall.

Wide Receiver

Cooper Kupp FD 7700 DK 7600
Opponent ARI
Proj Points FD - 20.06 DK - 24.99

We always learn so, so much in Week 1, and with Cooper Kupp, we know that he’s the top option (by a country mile) on the Rams. And that’s especially true now with Puka Nacua on the shelf for the foreseeable future. Kupp saw a staggering 21 targets (along with two carries) and finished with 14/110/1 through the air. It was WR1 stuff, to say the least, and the past production has shown that when Matthew Stafford is looking his way, there’s little other teams can do to stop it. With savings at QB and RB this week, fitting Kupp into lineups is no problem. Deebo Samuel Sr. FD 7300 DK 6800
Opponent MIN
Proj Points FD - 19.22 DK - 21.97

While Jordan Mason got the clear boost in the San Fran offensive attack with CMC out, Deebo Samuel also became an even more integral part of the offense as well. He factored into all areas of the attack, carrying the ball eight times for 23 yards and a touchdown while also seeing nine targets and a 5/54 line. The price didn’t adjust enough for his expanded role here, and there’s a lot of safety knowing the 49ers want to get him the ball in all different types of situations. CeeDee Lamb FD 9100 DK 8800
Opponent NO
Proj Points FD - 20.31 DK - 24.47

Again, I think we are going to spend at WR this week, especially if it’s a Justin Fields + Jordan Mason grouping at the other positions. CeeDee Lamb, like Deebo and Kupp above, was another guy who didn’t just catch passes in Week 1. While he saw 10 targets for a 5/61 line, Lamb also got three designed carries for 25 yards. The Cowboys want to get their best player the ball, no doubt. He’s expensive, but I think we can afford it here.

Other Wide Receivers to consider:

Allen Lazard saw the second-most New York Jets targets (9) from Aaron Rodgers in Week 1, finishing with a 6/89/2 line. The touchdowns were run hot for sure, but he’s still sitting at $3.3K which is too low.

Tight End

Isaiah Likely FD 5800 DK 4800
Opponent LV
Proj Points FD - 12.94 DK - 15.84

Tight end was, generally, a total disaster zone in Week 1, although there were some standouts (though not many). Isaiah Likely was one of them, easily crushing the rest of the field basically across the board. He had 12 targets and finished with 9/111/1, including a highlight reel touchdown in the game against the Chiefs. He was another whose price didn’t move enough relative to volume, and even with Mark Andrews there, it looks like Likely’s role is set here. He’s set to be a chalk play on DraftKings for sure, and possibly FanDuel as well.

Brock Bowers FD 5300 DK 4400
Opponent BAL
Proj Points FD - 10 DK - 12.62

We want to keep it cheap here at tight end if it’s at all possible, and with Brock Bowers, we get the chance to pay down for a guy who saw real targets in his first NFL game. He saw eight looks and finished with six catches and 58 yards. Those were both team-highs in the passing offense. For slightly more on both sites, we much prefer Likely, but Bowers is at least in play.
