Point Guard/ Shooting Guard
Trae Young FD - $8800 DK - $9300
Opponent - OKC
Proj Pts FD - 46.55 DK - 50.97
There are a couple of games with huge totals on this slate and Hawks-Thunder is one of them. It’s sitting at 236.5 right now with only Spurs - Pacers above it at 238. Most other games are about 10 points less. That’s a good sign for stacking here and we are going to want to have pieces of both. Trae Young is coming at a bargain on FanDuel at sub-$9K making for a value there compared to some of the other elite point guards on the slate. I like taking the relative discount where we can get in a game he should have high usage.
Tyrese Haliburton FD - $9800 DK - $9400
Opponent - SA
Proj Pts FD - 49.21 DK - 53.03
Tyrese Haliburton went completely crazy on Saturday against Charlotte, playing 37 minutes and going for 43 points and 12 assists on 14-21 shooting and 8-12 from beyond the arc. That just blows through the ceiling and while we can’t expect the same kind of efficiency, the pace of this game should lend itself to plenty of scoring once again. As mentioned, this game has the highest total on the slate and it was good to see Hali’s minutes crest up and over 35.
Josh Giddey FD - $7700 DK - $8200
Opponent - ATL
Proj Pts FD - 41.31 DK - 45.38
Josh Giddey was a moderate disappointment last game without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the court, playing *just* 31 minutes and going for 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists with no defensive stats. That’s a problem considering what we thought might happen with SGA out of the mix.
There’s a chance the minutes just might not be all that robust for Giddey who hasn’t played more than 32 in a game so far this season. But if there was a time to really pile up stats on volume, this is the game.
Update: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is now listed as questionable so keep an eye on this situation.
Consider
If Jaden Ivey is out again then I like the Pistons guards Cade Cunningham (FD 8000 DK 8500) and even Killian Hayes (FD 5400 DK 4800). Both would be in line for major minutes and if they can keep the game close against the Warriors then there is a ton of value here. That’s a big if though.
Jordan Hawkins (FD 4200 DK 4600) is a great FanDuel value and should be the starter with CJ McCollum out because of a major lung issue.
Small Forward
Jalen Williams FD - $7000 DK - $6700
Opponent - ATL
Proj Pts FD - 38.95 DK - 41.61
Even on a monster slate, we could have consolidated lineups to a few games that have significantly higher projected scoring outputs than the others. Of course, we mentioned Hawks - Thunder as one of those and Jalen Williams is still coming at a value on both sites. Like Giddey, it wasn’t all upside last time out with SGA sidelines, and Williams scored 18 points with eight rebounds in 35 minutes.
He also turned the ball over six times and had foul trouble. I think the minutes upside is higher here and he isn’t likely to shoot zero threes like he did last time out.
Jalen Johnson FD - $6100 DK - $5600
Opponent - OKC
Proj Pts FD - 34.48 DK - 36.14
Jalen Johnson got back into the starting lineup on Saturday after a one-game move back to the bench, and showed why he maybe should have never left. In 36 minutes, Johnson sent 8-13 from the field tallying 21 points while also grabbing 11 rebounds. He’s been excellent on the boards in his minutes this season and it helps give him a solid fantasy floor even sharing the court with high-usage guys like Trae Young and Dejounte Murray.
Ausar Thompson (FD 6600 DK 6600) is definitely in consideration here and has been piling up the defensive stats this season even if the shooting is a bit of a mess.
Power Forward/ Center
Victor Wembanyama FD - $8500 DK - $8500
Opponent - IND
Proj Pts FD - 45.25 DK - 45.98
Zach Collins FD - $6600 DK - $6400
Opponent - IND
Proj Pts FD - 36.53 DK - 38.97
Victor Wembanyama has been everything as advertised to start his rookie season, already averaging 20.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and four blocks + steals in his first six. And those averages are trending up in the very short term.
This game could be another chance to pile on numbers considering the Pacers run the second-fastest pace in the league while coming in dead last in defensive efficiency. Basically, this is the dream spot for Wemby and the Spurs.
Meanwhile, considering Victor Wembanyama is the headline here, Zach Collins is quietly putting together a very solid fantasy season of his own averaging 20 points and 9.5 rebounds over the last couple with a minutes increase to the low-30s that hopefully should stick. Considering the price points, I don’t mind stacking these guys in cash.
Goga Bitadze FD - $4800 DK - $4700
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 32.99 DK - 32.97
Goga Bitadze was a surprise start last game with Wendell Carter Jr. out of the lineup. Many assumed it would be Moritz Wagner, but that turned out to not be the case. And considering Goga went for a 10-10 double-double with five blocks in 26 minutes, expect to see him back out there tonight against the Mavericks.
The matchup isn’t amazing against Luka and the Cavs, but the price is way too low for this many projected minutes.
