Top Targets
Max Homa
World Golf Ranking (#7)
Vegas Odds (7/1)
DraftKings ($11,000)
Unless you are looking to be contrarian, it will be hard to not start your lineup with the California Kid, Max Homa! Not only has he won here in back-to-back years but he easily enters with the best form finishing off the season with four straight Top 10's and six straight Top 25 finishes. Considering a struggling Justin Thomas and two guys in Jaeger and Davis, who aren't exactly $10K material, are the only other two in the top tier, Homa is easily my top overall play this week.
Brendon Todd
World Golf Ranking (#59)
Vegas Odds (35/1)
DraftKings ($9,400)
After the top group, I gravitate towards Todd who is ranked behind only Homa in my overall rankings this week. While his season ended on a low, losing 7.9 strokes putting at the BMW Championship, Todd was a consistent option in 2023 making six straight and 13 of his final 15 cuts including two Top 10s in July/August. He also returns to Silverado Resort with some nice course history with three finishes of 26th or better in four trips including a career-best T9 last year. Fire up Todd in all formats.
Davis Thompson
World Golf Ranking (#103)
Vegas Odds (40/1)
DraftKings ($7,900)
A T9 here a year ago kickstarted Thompson's rookie season as he went on to make seven of his first eight cuts in 2023. He then hit a rookie wall which last almost the entire season but the good news here is that he finished strong with three finishes of T31 or better in his final four events while looking really good off the tee and putting. Finding a more consistent iron game is what will propel him to the next level and I am hoping a trip back to Cali will spark another strong start this time around.
Sam Ryder
World Golf Ranking (#112)
Vegas Odds (60/1)
DraftKings ($7,600)
It was a roller coaster ride a season ago for Ryder who made just 53% of his cuts but he also flashed his PTS/$ upside with four Top 10's and six Top 25 finishes. More importantly, he closed the season very strong in terms of his iron game as he gained five or more strokes on approach in each of his final three events and four or more in four of his last five. The course history is fairly ugly missing three cuts in the last four years but he did flash a T4 back in 2018. At this price, I will definitely be working Ryder into my GPP builds.
Greyson Sigg
World Golf Ranking (#223)
Vegas Odds (80/1)
DraftKings ($7,400)
Sigg really pops in the model this week checking a ton of boxes starting with the form down the stretch as he finished the season making five of his last six cuts with two Top 20 finishes. Directly correlating to that success was the oron game as he gained strokes in all five of those events and and two or more in four of them to go along with a solid and consistent game everywhere else. The course history isn't sparkling with a T51 and T30 in two trips but it's a solid floor for the price and I like his Top 25 upside this week.
