Top Targets

Scottie Scheffler
World Golf Ranking (#1)
Vegas Odds (7/1)
DraftKings ($11,600)
FanDuel ($12,400)

The World #1 is in a price tier of his own this week so there will be some decisions to be made, at least for others. For me, with the consistency he has shown, should put him in the $12K+ range on DraftKings and I say this as he enters the week with six straight Top 5's and 16 straight finishes of 12th or better. He even struggled terribly on the greens losing 8.5 and 4.6 strokes putting in back-to-back weeks at the Memorial and Charles Schwab and still finished T3 in both. Looking at the stats over the last 24 rounds, he is far and away the leader in SG: Tee to Green averaging over 1.4 strokes per round to the golfer in second over that time period. He has mixed results here with a T12 in 2021 and a missed cut last year but with his current form and success with the new putter, I will have plenty of Scheffler in my builds this week.

Patrick Cantlay
World Golf Ranking (#4)
Vegas Odds (14/1)
DraftKings ($10,200)
FanDuel ($11,900)

While not quite on the same level of consistency as Scheffler(who is?), Cantlay has been very good for a long stretch. Going all the way back to his missed cut at the PGA Championship last season, he has made 22 of his last 23 cuts at stroke-play events with a win (BMW Championship in the playoffs), 12 Top 10's, and 19 Top 25 finishes. Looking at the current form from a stats perspective, he ranks(in this field) 4th in SG: Tee to green, 4th in fairways gained, 15th in SG: Approach, 5th and 6th in Par 4 and 5 scoring, 8th in Birdie or Better %, and 4th in average DraftKings scoring. When fading the top guys in my builds, I will be starting a ton of lineups with Cantlay this week.

Justin Thomas
World Golf Ranking (#20)
Vegas Odds (40/1)
DraftKings ($8,300)
FanDuel ($10,300)

Is it a trap? It very well could be but I am not passing up the buy-low opportunity on DraftKings for a top 20 player in the world. To say the last couple of months have been a roller coaster ride for JT would be an understatement as he has missed three of his last four cuts but there is still a lot of upside. Over the last 24 rounds, he still ranks 22nd in SG: Approach and 2nd in Opportunities Gained but has been the victim of terrible putting(112th). While this event was not a part of the PGA Tour before last season, JT also returns to The Renaissance Club with two Top 10 finishes under his belt. Hopefully, he can use that familiarity to help kickstart a strong finishing stretch. I won't touch him in cash games but will fit him into my GPP builds on DraftKings at this price.

Alex Smalley
World Golf Ranking (#63)
Vegas Odds (66/1)
DraftKings ($7,900)
FanDuel ($9,600)

One of my favorite plays in the mid-tier this week is Alex Smalley who seemingly checks every box. He impressed here a season ago as a rookie with a T10 and now returns with some red-hot form. He has not only made the cut in four straight and seven of his last eight events, he also has Top 10 finishes in two of his last three. His game is led by some of the best iron play on tour as he has gained strokes on approach in 12 straight events and Smalley has gained 5.6, 7.3, and 8 strokes in each of his last three events. He is in play for me in all formats and on both sites.

Alexander Bjork
World Golf Ranking (#97)
Vegas Odds (110/1)
DraftKings ($7,300)
FanDuel ($8,900)

With the PGA Tour heading across the pond, we get a huge influx of DP World Tour players this week(75) and Bjork is right near the top of the list for me. I would say is is relatively unknown to the general public as the 97th-ranked player in the world but if you have been watching the DPWT you will know all about his consistency this season. He has made the cut in 18 straight events going back to September 2022 and comes in with Top 10 finishes in four straight and six of his last seven events. He is also ranked 16th in SG: Tee to Green on the DPWT this season and has finished of T26 and T19 in his last two appearances at the Renaissance Club. I will have exposure in all formats.

Others in my player pool include: Tommy Fleetwood, Wyndham Clark, Ludvig Aberg, Doug Ghim, Robert MacIntyre, Jordan Smith, Matthew Southgate
