Guards
Trae Young FD - $9900 DK - $9400
Opponent - MIN
Proj Pts FD - 46.43 DK - 50.43
We get three games tonight with monster totals and close spreads and I am going to start in Atlanta with one of the most consistent fantasy guards in the league. Going back to the start of February(15 games), Trae has been averaging a double-double on 26.2 points and 10.7 assists and has tallied 45 of more fantasy points in 13 of those games while just over 50! While the T-Wolves are 10th in overall defensive efficiency, they do struggle against guards giving up the fourth most fantasy points to the position. All things considered, Trae is my favourite payup at the guard position and in play in all formats.
Killian Hayes FD - $6400 DK - $5700
Opponent - IND
Proj Pts FD - 36.18 DK - 38.38
This game doesn't fall into "high total" category but it sure checks the opportunity and value boxes as the Pistons will be short-handed once again on Monday with Burks and Ivey out again. It was Killian Hayes stepping up in the Pistons' most recent game taking 17 shots and while he only made seven for 17 points he added 13 assists for a double-double and 49 DraftKings points. I am not expecting another ceiling game but it is in the cards as he faces a Pacers team that ranks 25th in defensive efficiency for the season and 26th over the last five games. Fire up Hayes in all formats.
Tim Hardaway Jr. FD - $5800 DK - $6400
Opponent - MEM
Proj Pts FD - 32.06 DK - 35.59
Jaden Hardy FD - $4500 DK - $4000
Opponent - MEM
Proj Pts FD - 30.3 DK - 33.41
With Luka still out and Kyrie questionable on Monday we get some more value at the guard position. Let's start with Hardaway who has responded in a big way to getting more volume recently as he is shooting 56% from the field(59% from three) across four straight games receiving double-digit shot attempts. That has led to an average of 35 fantasy points a game in that small sample. If Kyrie is ruled out for a second straight game, I think we can also go back to Hardy who started on Saturday, played 37 minutes, dropped 9 of 21 shots and provided over 30 fantasy points. In the low to mid $4K range, he would easily become one of our top values on this slate. Stay tuned for news.
Small Forward
Jimmy Butler FD - $9400 DK - $8700
Opponent - UTA
Proj Pts FD - 43.74 DK - 44.96
I am once again steering away from the three very high total games but I just can't ignore the consistent returns that Jimmy Butler has been providing lately. Over his last nine games, he is shooting an eye-popping 61.5% from the field on 14 shots a game and adding a balance of secondary scoring(5.4 assists, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 blocks+steals). I mostly interested in DraftKings where the price remains below $9K where we are looking for a 45 fantasy point return and he has done that in eight of his last nine while averaging 46.6 per game. In a matchup against the Jazz who rank 23rd in defensive efficiency and 20th in fnatsy points against forwards, I will have exposure to Butler in all formats.
Also Consider: Anthony Edwards(MIN) who is getting monster volume(20+ shots in three straight) and gets a terrific matchup in a projected high-pace game against the Hawks who rank 22nd in defensive efficiency
Power Forward/Center
Domantas Sabonis FD - $10000 DK - $9800
Opponent - MIL
Proj Pts FD - 47.84 DK - 52.09
This may not appear to be the best spot for Sabonis as the Bucks are 3rd in defensive efficiency but this game has a two-point spread and a massive 244.5 total so it makes sense to get as much exposure as possible. After back-to-back triple-doubles, Sabonis put a dud against the Suns on Saturday but I am not too concerned considering how consistent he had been previous to that with 11 straight double-doubles where he averaged 20.7 points, 13 rebounds, and 7.3 assists for over 50 fantasy points per game. He is in play in all formats regardless but if Giannis were to sit here, he would become one of my favourite overall plays on the slate.
Kyle Anderson FD - $6600 DK - $6100
Opponent - ATL
Proj Pts FD - 33.76 DK - 34.86
Naz Reid FD - $5200 DK - $4400
Opponent - ATL
Proj Pts FD - 24.28 DK - 25.88
One thing this slate is not short on is value and we have more of it in this fantasy-friendly matchup with a 244 total featuring two teams ranking Top 10 in pace. With Karl Anthony-Towns still out and Rudy Gobert questionable after spraining his ankle, I will look to the big men for value tonight and it starts with Kyle Anderson who is in play no matter the Gobert status. He isn't outstanding in any one area but is consistent across multiple categories and is averaging 12 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.9 blocks+steals over his last nine games which, for us, has resulted in over 32 fantasy points per game. For Reid, he is only in play if Gober is out and if that is the case he quickly becomes a top value as he dropped 60 fantasy points in his last start(2/26). Stay tuned for new.
