Point Guard/ Shooting Guard
CJ McCollum FD - $7600 DK - $8000
Opponent - ATL
Proj Pts FD - 40.22 DK - 43.76
Brandon Ingram FD - $7800 DK - $7100
Opponent - ATL
Proj Pts FD - 39.57 DK - 42.82
Thought Brandon Ingram is back in the mix for the Pelicans, CJ McCollum is still seeing plenty of usage in this offense and playing minutes in the high-30s on a consistent basis. With the price still on the lower side on FanDuel, I think we can run him in cash games against this Hawks team. Atlanta is 19th on defense and runs a top-10 pace this season. Meanwhile, CJ is averaging a 22/6 over the short-term with the scoring even set to possibly take a jump in this game.
And then there is Brandon Ingram who is fully back in the fold in terms of minutes and definitely all the way there on the usage as well. In 32 minutes on Saturday against the Lakers, Ingram took 28 shots and finished with 35 points while also pitching in five assists and four rebounds. He’s taken 20 shots or more in three of his first five games back. The price hasn’t caught up at all with the usage, especially on DraftKings.
Jalen Brunson FD - $7900 DK - $8500
Opponent - ORL
Proj Pts FD - 41.42 DK - 44.28
Speaking of guys who run big minutes, Jalen Brunson has one of the highest floors in the NBA where that is concerned. He hasn’t played fewer than 35 minutes in a game since December 20th and during that stretch is averaging 20 points, 5.4 assists, and four rebounds. It doesn’t get much better than that and the price certainly doesn’t reflect this opportunity all the way.
Small Forward
LeBron James FD - $10300 DK - $11200
Opponent - OKC
Proj Pts FD - 54.08 DK - 58.28
It’s not guaranteed, but it could happen that LeBron James could end up breaking the all-time scoring mark tonight. He has two games to be able to do it at home, tonight and Thursday against the Bucks. Both games will be on TNT and short of injury it’s nearly guaranteed to happen in this stretch. He’s 35 back of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and he’s averaging 30 per game on the season. The usage dips a bit with Anthony Davis back, but rest assured, everyone knows this is on the line. The matchup is a good one from a DFS perspective and I’m usually not one to play the narrative game, but this is a spot to do it.
Herbert Jones FD - $5400 DK - $4900
Opponent - ATL
Proj Pts FD - 30.66 DK - 30.86
Quentin Grimes FD - $4800 DK - $4800
Opponent - ORL
Proj Pts FD - 24.82 DK - 27.05
I’m putting these guys together as big minutes, low usage dudes who might be needed to round out some lineups on Tuesday. Herbert Jones has played 33 or more minutes in each of the last four games though the scoring really needs a lot to go right in order to get there. He can make his bones on steals (14 in the last four) but that’s a pretty variable stat. It’s all to say, he’s still a value at these low prices but you could be sweating it out on the minutes.
Meanwhile, Grimes has a similarly high minutes floor and with him you are hoping the threes get knocked down in order to maintain at these prices. He is getting looks, averaging about six triple attempts per game over the last month and just creeping towards 11 points a game in that stretch. The other numbers can come and go which is why he’s sticking under $5K but I think you can feel good about him at least getting run in this matchup.
Power Forward/ Center
Anthony Davis FD - $10800 DK - $10500
Opponent - OKC
Proj Pts FD - 61.09 DK - 61.84
The minutes training wheels are fully off for Anthony Davis who’s run 34 or more in each of the last four games. In that stretch he’s average 27 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks+steals. The prices on either site don’t really reflect that he’s fully back from injury and has major upside especially if the defensive stuff and scoring come all together in one game. That could happen against a Thunder team that plays a top-10 pace and gets blocked the fourth most in the league. Pairing LeBron and Davis together in cash would appear to have about as high a floor as you can get if the salaries work out.
Jaren Jackson Jr. FD - $7800 DK - $7300
Opponent - CHI
Proj Pts FD - 41.59 DK - 40.6
Xavier Tillman Sr. FD - $5300 DK - $4600
Opponent - CHI
Proj Pts FD - 27.96 DK - 28.83
The big question with Jaren Jackson Jr. is always whether or not he can stay on the court for minutes in the low-to-mid 30s. If so, then these prices are still too low. It’s happened over the last few of games, 32+ in each of the last three. In that timeline he’s averaging 21 points, eight rebounds and a completely ridiculous five blocks. It’s that latter stat that gives him unreal upside, especially on FanDuel where the swats count for even more.
Xavier Tillman is still starting for Steven Adams though the price doesn’t totally reflect this new-ish opportunity. Last game he played 32 minutes and put up 12 points and nine assists against the Raptors. Now he’ll get a plus matchup against the Bulls who allow above average opponent rebounding and get blocked at a higher than league average rate. Tillman is still definitely a value play at these prices understanding that he’s entrenched as the Grizzlies’ starting center in the short-term.
