Playing an $8K De'Anthony Melton should feel crazy, but it really doesn’t considering how well this guy has been running since getting into the starting lineup following the injuries to James Harden and Tyrese Maxey. Over the last four games, Melton is averaging 18 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.75 assists, and even chipping in 3.5 blocks + steals as well. It’s meant a very high floor for cash games, especially on FanDuel where the defensive stats can really help things pile up. This is a good matchup against the Magic and I think we can consider him once again.
Meanwhile, Shake Milton is coming cheap on DraftKings and was a chalk play there on Wednesday. He ended up playing 39 minutes, scoring 22 points and adding nine assists. The 16 shots were the third-most on the team behind Melton and Tobias Harris. The 76ers is concentrated among these three right now, giving each a pretty high floor in terms of the minutes and the usage.

He’s a bit too expensive on DraftKings, but the FanDuel price is still very much in the cash game range and the floor has been high for Payne in his time starting for the injured Chris Paul. Over his last seven games, Payne is averaging 19 points and 6.5 rebounds while playing right around 33 minutes per game. Against a very bad Detroit Pistons team, this is a good spot for Payne.

Jose Alvarado got the start for CJ McCollum on Wednesday evening and it really looked like he was set to be a nice little punt play. That didn’t work out exactly to plan with him scoring just five points and committing five turnovers. But he did add nine assists and three steals in his 30 minutes which helped mitigate a total disaster. All this being said, I’m fine going back to him as a punt play here on Friday against Memphis as long as he’s in the starting lineup. The assists and steals give him a high enough floor and he’s coming too cheap on DraftKings.

We are buying Zach Lavine on a bit of a price dip right now which we will take all day considering some of it is due to short-term shooting woes. He was 1-14 from the field three games ago and is just 30% from three over the last three games. Now, he’ll face a Thunder team ranked 22nd in defensive efficiency in a game that has the fourth-highest implied total of the massive slate. I love the price on both sites, but especially on FanDuel at under $7K.

The Lakers have actually won three of their last four games and even though they remain without Lebron James, Lonnie Walker has been a big part of that success in the short term. He’s played 34 or more minutes in two of the last three and LA will be without Patrick Beverley tonight. Over his last five games, Walker is taking 15 shots per game and averaging close to 20 points per game. That’s great news against a Spurs team ranked dead last in defensive efficiency and running the sixth-fastest pace in the league.

Speaking of the Lakers being in a great spot, that applies to Anthony Davis as well who has as much upside as anyone on the slate on Friday. He’s been on an absolute tear over the last five games with some ridiculous numbers. In that stretch he’s putting up 33 points and 17 rebounds while adding 4.8 blocks+steals. It’s an unreal stat line that rivals just about anyone in the NBA when it comes to hitting top end fantasy upside. This matchup lines up perfectly for his skillset and the Spurs have little in the way of resistance for AD here.

Jaren Jackson Jr. isn’t up to a full compliment of minutes yet since coming back from the knee injury last week, but he’s made the most of his time on the court. He’s averaging 24 points and 7.5 rebounds over the last two games and has a 17 blocks + steals in his first three games. That’s a ridiculous number and something that’s been a staple of his game since he entered the league. The DraftKings price is still way too low here and there’s a chance we start to see the minutes push towards 30 as he works his way back.

It hasn’t been all that consistent for Jabari Smith to start his rookie campaign but he’s looked better over the last few games and is at least starting to find his shot more consistently. The efficiency isn’t all the way there, though there is some hope it rounds into form with more NBA reps. He’s been able to rebound the position well and should have more opportunity there with Sengun out again this game. The minutes are on the higher side and the matchup against the Hawks is a good one.
