Quarterbacks
Geno Smith FD 7000 DK 5800
Opponent NYG
Proj Points FD - 20.07 DK - 20.07
Geno Smith is QB7 in DraftKings scoring this season and he’s coming at QB8 in price just on this slate. We are still getting him at value prices even though the production has been excellent and pretty consistent. He’s thrown for 1,712 yards, the seventh most in the league,S and has 11 touchdowns to just three interceptions. The Giants for all of their feel-good 5-1 start still have the 29th overall defense and give it up both through the air and on the ground. Geno is coming cheap enough on both sites to start fitting some of the skill position guys we are going to want in cash.
Daniel Jones FD 7500 DK 5700
Opponent SEA
Proj Points FD - 19.81 DK - 19.81
I don’t think I want him on FanDuel where I can get Geno for $500 cheaper, but the DraftKings price is pretty nice and allows for plenty of flexibility elsewhere in the lineup. He’s only thrown six touchdowns on the season, but Jones has gotten it done with his legs, even putting up 107 yards on the ground last week against the Jaguars. He has three games of 68 or more rushing yards this season and has found the end zone three times as well. Again, I want to go cheap at the position this week almost for sure.
I actually think you can consider Sam Ehlinger here who is getting the nod over Matt Ryan for the Colts. He is the minimum on DraftKings, has weapons in this offense and ran a ton (a ton) in college. If that’s even part of his game at the NFL level then the floor is high enough to take the risk.
Running Backs
Saquon Barkley FD 9500 DK 8100
Opponent SEA
Proj Points FD - 22.66 DK - 24.77
In terms of opportunity, it doesn’t get much safer than Saquon Barkley who is coming off playing 81% of the snaps in Week 7 and is about elite as it gets when it comes to the usage. On the season, his 173 rushing attempts + receiving targets rank number one in the league by 16 over the next-closest guy (Joe Mixon). He’s game script independent when it comes to seeing the ball and gets a pace-up matchup against the Seahawks who allow the third-most opponent plays per game this season. You have to love the DraftKings price especially with the passing down work.
Alvin Kamara FD 7800 DK 7100
Opponent LV
Proj Points FD - 20.77 DK - 23.6
Alvin Kamara has 77 rushes and 35 targets this season, totaling up 550 yards from scrimmage. Zero touchdowns. It’s become something of a joke just how little he’s found the end zone while Taysom Hill has five running touchdowns and guys like Mark Ingram, Latavius Murray, and even Rashid Shaheed have scampered their way to glory for the Saints. But the usage in the offense remains elite and the lack of TDs has actually kept the price in check. He’ll face a Raiders team that is 26th in defensive DVOA and has been pretty bad against both the run and the pass. We are still getting Kamara at a bargain even if the touchdown work is getting vultured all over the place.
Raheem Mostert FD 6800 DK 5900
Opponent DET
Proj Points FD - 17.67 DK - 19.55
Mostert played 71% of the snaps for the Dolphins in Week 7 when they were back at full strength with Tua Tagovailoa back under center. This is Mostert’s job to keep now and he is getting a prime matchup in Week 8. Detroit is the second-worst defense in the league this season, equally bad against the pass and run and there’s a reason this game has the highest total at 51.5. The Dolphins are -3.5 road favorites and we should see Mostert get a bulk of the work. He’s averaging 4.5 yards per carry and gets work in the passing game. The price on both sites doesn’t match the usage or the matchup here.
Strongly consider Kenneth Walker against the Giants.
Wide Receivers
Tyreek Hill FD 8700 DK 8500
Opponent DET
Proj Points FD - 22.21 DK - 26.98
He’s got a game more than Cooper Kupp under his belt, but Tyreek Hill is still leading the NFL in receiving targets this season and that’s even with playing with three different quarterbacks so far. We were reminded what would happen with Tua under center in this offense though in Week 7 when Hill saw 13 targets, turning them into a somewhat disappointing 7/72 line. But the volume is tough to beat and this game could be a track meet against the Lions. He’s a tough fade at these prices, especially considering the game total.
DeAndre Hopkins FD 7900 DK 7400
Opponent MIN
Proj Points FD - 18.44 DK - 22.42
Speaking of tough fades, Hopkins got right back into the swing of things in his first game back from the suspension in Week 7. And it sure looked like Kyler Murray appreciated having him around as well. Hopkins saw 14 targets (48% target share) and finished with 10 catches and 103 yards. If this is going to be the kind of expected volume (which would be nuts in an actual shootout) then you really are going to have to sister him at the DraftKings price especially. The Vikings rank 21st against the pass and this game has a 49 total, the third-highest of the slate.
DJ Moore FD 6200 DK 5300
Opponent ATL
Proj Points FD - 12.8 DK - 15.59
DJ Moore owners have been in a bad way this season, having to watch the likes of Baker Mayfield throw his way or dump off to Christian McCaffrey. But both of those guys are gone now and PJ Walker looked like an actual upgrade to Moore’s production. The latter had his best week of the season with Walker calling plays and finished with 10 targets good for a 7/69/1 line. Now he’ll face off against the worst defense in the league in the Atlanta Falcons. We are getting him at value prices on both FanDuel and DraftKings.
Tight Ends
Tyler Higbee FD 6000 DK 4200
Opponent SF
Proj Points FD - 12.2 DK - 15.41
He’s coming off the bye and the price is still way too low on DraftKings. He’s averaging more than eight targets per game on the season and remains one of the focal points in Stafford’s progressions. Tight end is such a problem position in general so we are usually looking to get away with it as cheaply as possible. There’s an opportunity to do that with Higbee who still sees elite usage for the position at bargain rates.
Dallas Goedert FD 5900 DK 5000
Opponent PIT
Proj Points FD - 10.38 DK - 12.77
The price has come down for Goedert some and he’s coming off a bye this time around. He’s averaging about six targets per game this season though of course, he’s always going to be lower down the pecking order in this higher-powered Eagles’ offense. Again, we are looking to not spend at this position unless it’s the likes of Mark Andrews or Travis Kelce, neither of who are rolling on this slate.
