Mavericks (6) vs. Clippers (-6)
This has been one of the best first-round series you could ever hope to see and fittingly it’s gone to Game 7. From a DFS perspective, it’s a very tough fade considering the number of minutes the superstars are going to play as long as it stays close. Let’s take a look.
Kawhi Leonard FD - $10600 DK - $9900
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 53.24 DK - 53.89
Kawhi saved his best game of the series for Game 6 when the Clippers faced elimination. He dropped 45 points including key baskets near the end that put them over the top. For the series, he’s averaging 33 points, 7.5 rebounds, and three blocks+steals. He’s a favorite to play 43+ minutes if the game is close. There’s no reason to take their foot off the gas and he was able to go a ton last game even guarding Luka for long stretches.
Paul George FD - $9400 DK - $9000
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 52.41 DK - 55.26
Paul George played all but two minutes in Game 6 and that could be the case again for him in this elimination game. His usage rate wasn’t all that high considering the amount of run he got, but he did score 20 points on 15 shots. The 13 rebounds helped the fantasy line a ton and you really just can’t fade him here on either site considering how much he’s projected to play.
Reggie Jackson FD - $5400 DK - $5400
Opponent - DAL
Proj Pts FD - 29.34 DK - 30.95
What a game he had last time out and the price hasn’t moved all that much. Jackson was second on the team with 25 points and was one of the main reasons they were able to pull this one out in Dallas. He also grabbed nine rebounds and added four assists. The middle tier pricing isn’t reflective of how much he’s been playing and if they are going to continue to rely on his scoring then he’s basically a must-play at these prices.
You can basically think about playing the whole Clippers starting five with Marcus Morris Sr. (FD $5000 DK $4900) and Nicolas Batum (FD $5200 DK $4800) likely to play a lot again as well.
Luka Doncic FD - $11200 DK - $11100
Opponent - LAC
Proj Pts FD - 61.75 DK - 66.36
It’s maybe a tougher call on Luka here than you would think. Considering the price compared to the Clippers’ guys, the production isn’t overwhelming in Doncic’s favor. Los Angeles has been able to sort of slow him down a bit over the last couple of games by moving Kawhi on to him. He’s going to play a ton and I hate the idea of fading him on this slate, but there could be a case. That being said, he still has the highest floor of about anyone. Boban Marjanovic FD - $3900 DK - $3700
Opponent - LAC
Proj Pts FD - 23.42 DK - 23.91
He’s still too cheap on DraftKings considering he’s likely to stick in the starting lineup. The Mavericks won the Boban minutes in Game 6 seeing as how he was a +5 for the game. They didn’t feel like they could run him as much last time out though for whatever reason. That could be the case again, but he should at least stick in the staring lineup. Even in just 17 minutes he scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He’ll be chalk once again.
Hawks (3) vs. 76ers (-3)
We start this series off with a complete unknown for Philadelphia right now considering Joel Embiid is listed questionable for Game 1. He missed the last game against the Wizards and is dealing with a partially torn meniscus. It’s a foreboding time for Philly and this DFS slate hinges on the news.
Ben Simmons FD - $8600 DK - $8300
Opponent - ATL
Proj Pts FD - 43.88 DK - 43.53
Tobias Harris FD - $8800 DK - $8500
Opponent - ATL
Proj Pts FD - 42.27 DK - 42.4
Basically, we need to wait for injury news to make a determination here on who are the lock cash game plays. If Embiid plays then we are in a tricky situation of maybe not being able to trust anyone on the Sixers in cash at their current price points. That’s going to be a bummer seeing as how this is just a two-game slate, but since this is the first game of the series, it doesn’t hold a candle to the game out West.
If Embiid were to sit then Simmons and Harris immediately jump up as excellent values on the slate. You can’t play them over the LAC guys for sure, but seeing as how they are both in the low-$8K range on DraftKings, they would ring in as deals considering the expected jump in both usage rate and rebounding especially. Again, with Embiid being a game-time decision this is a wait-and-see situation.
Additionally, other guys like Seth Curry (FD $4900 DK $5100) and Danny Green (FD $5000 DK $4700) are considerably more attractive at their prices without Embiid.
Matisse Thybulle got the start last game for Embiid, but considering the Hawks have Capela, we could see Dwight Howard (FD $4900 DK $4500) move into that role if Embiid sat. If that was the case he’d be close to a cash game lock.
Clint Capela FD - $7900 DK - $7700
Opponent - PHI
Proj Pts FD - 46.12 DK - 46.03
He’s a good example of what can change if Embiid plays or not. If Embiid were to sit then Capela becomes an amazing value and Philly would have little in the way of resistance for him on the interior. And he’d be in line for heavy minutes against an undersized 76ers’ team. Again, this is just one of the many if-this-then-that scenarios for this game.
Deandre Hunter is questionable for this game. If he were to sit we’d seen more minutes for Danilo Gallinari (FD $4500 DK $4100) and Kevin Huerter (FD $4100 DK $4000) most likely.
